Loved this restaurant! The staff really treat you like family and the food is top notch. It's a little away from the usual tourist district so you may have to get a cab. It's worth it though! This place is truly wonderful!

We never eat dinner in our hotel when we travel, so before our trip, I did some TA research and had decided that we would eat at 2 or 3 of the TA top-rated places. El Moro is #3 (or really #2 if you don't count a burrito bar). This is NOT a white tablecloth, fancy restaurant. If that is what you want, don't go here and then post a negative review because it wasn't what you expected. It IS a local, family run eatery, away from the touristy areas near the water and if you want authentic, cheap Mexican/Yucatecan food served by one of the nicest restauranteurs I have ever encountered (and I travel and eat out a LOT) then go to El Moro! Food was awesome and 3 of us ate and drank like princes for US $60, including a nice tip.

Wanting authentic food and superb service - then go to El Moro. It's off the beaten path, but the food is worth searching for! Our group was treated very special and we loved everything we ordered. And don't forget the banana milkshake....it's fantastic! We will be back on our next visit.

We ate here twice during our trip. The food was very good. What made it stand out was the customer service. They were attentive and friendly and we will definitely make it a regular stop. A little challenging to find on your own but any taxi can take you right there.

You must try El Moro for authentic Mexican food, served in a friendly, "you are family" atmosphere. Seafood was excellent (try the combo platter) and they had the best guacamole I have ever tasted. Service was excellent and there is music and a dance floor for those interested. El Moro was recommended by a friend who lives in Cozumel, its off the main tourist strip, so easiest to take a cab. You won't be disappointed, its reasonably priced, generous portions and everything is fresh and home made.
