Just a few steps off the main street is La Mission. It is an open air restaurant that is very nicely decorated. Please see the interior and exterior photographs that I posted for this location. We arrived about the time they opened on a Tuesday which was noon Central time. This is one hour behind most cruise ships that are on EST.
We both decided to have the black bean soup for an appetizer. This was better than good. We added some of the fresh salsa that was served for the chips. Highly recommend this soup. For our main course we had a Chile Relleno, stuffed chile pepper, and the Mexican combination plate. Photographs of both are posted. Both of these dishes were very good. They also served a side of fresh guacamole that would have been about a $7 item in most US restaurants.
The service was excellent. Salsa dish was refilled several times and all our needs tended to promptly.
As for the price... I am still a bit confused. The total bill was $30 US including tip. We also had two soft drinks. Not sure if this was lunch prices or just that they missed something.
The bottom line is that it was a very enjoyable dinning experience. If you are in Cozumel give it a try.
