We were on a trip to Playa del Carmen for a week and just couldn't pass up the chance to catch the ferry to Cozumel for a visit to one of our favorite restaurants "LA CHOZA". This was our first time to the new location and it was cool and open air, which is nice in the humidity of Cozumel. The atmosphere was very charming and the staff was friendly and attentive. It was a special treat to be able to visit with Ignacio, Jose and Christian as it's been 7 years since our last visit. We have to admit that we made two visits that same day for their awesome food, drinks and fresh chips with homemade salsa. We have enjoyed every item we have tried on the menu but are especially fond of their fajitas. Whether you come here for just a drink or a meal, you won't be disappointed.

After all of the trips we have made to Cozumel, we finally decided to try La Choza. We were left unimpressed. The service was excellent, thorough, and prompt, but that was the only glowing part of our visit. The noodle soup that was served before each of our entrees was lacking any real flavor. I order the fresh grilled fish fillet served with garlic butter. The fish was ok, slightly overcooked, but the garlic butter sauce was not good at all. My wife had the chiles rellenos, they were ok at best and way to heavily breaded, they were seasoned appropriately however. The price for the 2 entrees and a couple of cokes was close to 400 pesos. For the price there are much better meals to be had on Cozumel.

We were a little hesitant to eat here but full of local people so we decided to ty it. Quite good.
Once again our family of four each ordered something. We were not disappointed. The service
was also very good. You can't beat the freshly made corn tortillas that come with your meal.
Don't be afraid to stray off the main streets, the prices are usually higher the closer you are
to the ferry.

Loved that this was a little off the main drag, no cruise ship passengers, mostly crew and some local, great food, we went for breakfast. Always a favourite when in Cozumel

All the food is great here and everything you order starts with your choice of 2 different soups. The best bargain is for the "comida del dis" which means meal of the day. It is usually 65 pesos or the US dollar equivalent of $4.50! I also recommend my personal FAV the arrecherra, which is a marinated flank steak with no fat. I have lived here for over 5 years now and I can assure you that is where the locals go! Enjoy :)
