The day we were there, the site had hundreds and hundreds of people and very very few were in the restaurant. Waiters stand outside with tablets to show you the menu. We were seated immediately and it was so nice and cool inside. We could not have had better service and the food was excellent. It was a great respite in our trip to Chichen Itza.

We left our hotel too early to find breakfast, so I was stressed about finding a place to eat before entering Chichen Itza. So glad I read these reviews because it is indeed a wonderful and pretty restaurant!! We arrived at 815 and were out by about 8:50- not super fast at that hour but the food was worth it. They served the beans and salsa in these adorable edible tortilla cups- just loved it!! Delicious food, friendly service, and really nice atmosphere.

when you find a restaurant within an archeological site you have doubts if you can eat anything at all. instead we had the pleasure of eating tasty dishes and even more so with an excellent service to beat. the waiter that served us was EDGAR. he guided us all through the menu and suggested the best items to choose. we all thank him because his service and assistance was really appreciated. compliments.

One of the best club sandwiches, salads and ceviches in Mexico, great grouper filet and wine and wonderful service at moderate prices.

Usually onsite restaurants at tourist attractions should be avoided at all cost. This is a rare exception. If you can, get a table inside in the back where it is cooler. We arrived at 11:30 after touring the grounds before the rush. There were 12 of us (adults and kids) with a variety of preferences and Oxtun met almost all of them. Our Mexican friends loved the Panuchos, conchinita pibil tacos, the guacamole and the kids had pasta for something different, great nachos, and my daughter had tuna tartare which was amazingly fresh and an impressive presentation. I had the shrimp tacos with chipotle mayo sauce and they were sweet and flavorful. My friend had the Arrachera skirt steak and it was buttery with crispy edges- super good. The only thing that got a thumbs down from my son was the hamburger. I gave it four stars only because the kids meals and tuna tartare came out much later than the adults’ meals. This is your best bet in the area for a good quality meal with well done local specialities and choices for those wanting a break from Mexican food.
