The room was big, but the beds very small - NOT a queen size bed. Therefore for us rather uncomfortable as we were a Family of 4. As they cater bus tourists it is very noisy in the main building untli 5 pm - and it feels "cheap". Water pressure was so low, that it took 5 minutes under the shower to get the hair wet. For the Sound and light show, the main entrance has to be used, which is a 5 minute drive away. I booked the Hotel also because of the nice Swimming pool in the Pictures - the pool is right next to the main building and with all the bus tourists....
Very nice it the garden though with beautiful plants. There is another part of the Hotel in the back of mayaland, but on the same ground - the bungalows seemt to be much nicer there and the pool as well - I would book there).
Service in the restaurants friendly, but very, very slow.

Excellent location with a private entrance to the Mayan site, which means you can access the site very easily and avoid crowds. The hotel is very nice, lovely to have a pool and good dining facilities. The only downside is that the hotel is on 3 levels and there is no lift - so it is a bit of an effort getting up and down. However the porters are very helpful. The hotel grounds are lovely and it is worth taking a walk around the property. They also put on a good show in the planetarium which is well worth seeing. There is a shop with clothing, books and souvenirs, also an ATM.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower levels - easier to access

Let me start with the pros of the hotel:
(1) perfect location
(2) entrance direct to the site of chicken itza
(3) three pools, nice main building and some nice amenities
Unfortunately these positive sides were outweighed by
(1) a very low quality restaurant, I felt sick after having tried it
(2) air conditioning not properly working
(3) bath that needs some renovation since it starts to show the time passing.

All in all it is a nice choice for those who wants to see the night show at chicken itza and visit the site during the day but please stay away from the restaurant and be ready to complain about not functioning features.

Very nice hotel right next to Chichen Itza. The walk to the ticket office and entrance was 2 minutes so when it opened at 8, we were the first to get in. Before all the tourist busses arrived. The facilities were fine, we really enjoyed the snack menu at the bar.

The room and the garden were very beautiful, just like a little paradise. Definitely would stay here again!

Spent the last day of our tour at the Mayaland hotel. It is located next to the Chichen Itza site (the hotel owns the land the ruins are on). If you can, try to get the rooms at the front of the main hotel with views towards the Mayan Observatory - you will have awesome sunset and sunrise vistas to enjoy. The bedrooms are huge - enormous even - and the separate bathroom has not just a walk-in shower, but a huge 6-person jacuzzi as well!!!..(Just remember to pull down the roller-blind on the picture window before using the Jacuzzi, as the bathrooms look out onto the coach arrival area at the front of the hotel, and you don't want to be caught with all your bits on show!...
The hotel has its own mini-Observatory on site, where guests can enjoy a pre-dinner show explaining the Mayan cosmos and mythology. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were fine, with ample choice and portions, all served efficiently and unobtrusively. As a hotel guest, you can enjoy early access to the Chichen itza site (from 8.00am) from the hotel private entrance for just $13 - worth every penny for the peace and tranquillity and to avoid the heat of the day and the coach-loads of other tourists arriving later - who you will meet later on anyway in the buffet restaurant at lunchtime. The hotel also has 2 shops on site selling souvenirs, and an interesting chocolate museum too. Recommended.

Room Tip: Room 101 is huge and has awesome views over the Mayan Observatory at the front of the hotel
