The best thing about this hotel is the level of service. It is very high. Very courteous staff, attentive, polite and not at all overbearing. 10/10 .
Food in the main restuarant is good if somewhat overpriced. Bottled water is well overpriced, but I'm afraid you are a captive audience.
Visiting the ruins (via the hotel's own entrance) is easy but do go early (8am).
The interior of the hotel is very pleasant, airy verandas overlooking the well laid out gardens. Our room was a bit "tired" but everything worked.
All in all you're paying a hefty premium for an excellent location.

Thank you for staying with us and for your wonderful comments.... which are not reflected on your opening phrase or your final score. As mention in other responses to reviews, we are quietly remodeling ALL our rooms in the main building. One at a time, so as not to disturb a single guest.

We hope to be of service to you in the future. Muchas Gracias!

I had intended to stay at a more expensive boutique hotel in the area, but that was booked up, so I chose this place instead. Thank God I did! My room was immaculate. I had a glorious tiled balcony overlooking fantastic landscaped jungle gardens. The bathroom was small, yet well-appointed: shower as well as a jacuzzi bath. The toiletries provided were hand-crafted. There is a nice buffet style outdoor restaurant separate from the hotel with a thatched roof. Had a great dinner there. Chicken and pork tenderloin. Met a very nice couple at dinner: the husband was Welsh and the wife was German. We pounded shots of Don Julio together.

In the morning I had breakfast at the same restaurant. Delicious again. If you want to order from a menu, they have that at the main hotel. There is also a nice bar. Patio seating outside the bar and restaurant. One of the coolest things about this place is that when you walk out the front door you see the Chichen Itza Mayan observatory.

The hotel is a stone's throw away from the ruins. I counted at least two swimming pools. There is a spa. Some kind of planetarium. The grounds are expansive and there is also the possibility of staying in bungalow style structures separate from the hotel itself.

I recommend checking out the funky town of Piste when you're there. The finest woven goods shop I saw during my one week journey around Yucatan is there. The proprietor was kind enough to direct me to the hotel when I was lost. I tried to go back in the morning and patronize him, but they were closed.

My one complaint is that the front desk clerk I think ripped me off for about $60 pesos selling me a ticket to the ruins. He charged me $188, and I think they only should cost $129 pesos. Buy your ticket at the ticket office. I should have known when he wouldn't take debit card for payment.

Another tip about Mexico. Only use your home currency when you are in a position to barter. When the price is non-negotiable, always pay in pesos.

This hotel is wonderful. I don't see how you can go wrong.

Thank you for staying with us and for your wonderful review !

By the way, the front desk clerk did not overcharge you. We sell tickets as a courtesy service. No one makes a penny. It is just that, a service, so that you do not have to wait for even one patron to get in from our private entrance (government run and operated from our grounds). No credit cards are accepted for payment because they all cost over 3% and again, tickets are sold at cost as a service (remember the total price is the addition of Federal and State entry fees, and they vary by age, nationality and occupation (students pay less).

We hope to have the honor of your visit again !

We , that is my wife and I stayed here for three nights as part of the Yucatan Explorer tour. We were allocated room 106, a large room overlooking the jungle, two double beds and loads of room, clean bedding and quiet and restfully positioned. We were on full board and enjoyed the food which was a mixture of buffet and a la carte. The food was somewhat more national and less International which was good. Staff throughout the Hotel were friendly and attentive and we found what little Spainish I have went a long way. The location of this Hotel is yards away from the main site at Chichen Itza and this makes it even more desirable. On our third day a minor calamity occurred when part of the ceiling in our bathroom collapsed, luckily we were out on tour so on our return we had to move to room 25. This was a room with a Jacuzzi bath and huge balcony overlooking the Hotel grounds, these grounds were beautifully kept and were a home to a great variety of birdlife . All in all a great time was had, good accommodation and a great tour.

We stayed in this hotel for a night as part of a group tour which included breakfast and dinner, our experience may not reflect individual bookings.

Ideally sited being very close to the Chichen Itza complex. Large hotel in lovely gardens with swimming pool and various dining areas. Now slightly worse for wear.

We had a large room with two large single (or small double) beds. The beds were a bit lumpy with two fat lumpy pillows. The tiles on the floor were stained. The main door had a stained glass effect insert at the top, from the corridor you could see right through it (we tried!) Not good especially as it was opposite one bed. A coffee maker in the room but we didn’t try it, we got good coffee from the coffee bar downstairs. A large bathroom with bath and shower over bath and a hairdryer. The bath was chipped and repaired. We found the shower ran when the bath taps were being used even when the diverter was engaged , annoying. The air con was efficient and ours wasn’t too noisy although some of the group said theirs was too noisy to leave on. A ceiling fan is also provided. Cleaning standards left a lot to be desired, the beds were clean but the floors most definitely weren’t. A cupboard holds a TV and mini bar. The room had a large table and chairs, the chairs and other wood surrounds had lovely carvings on them. No Wi-Fi in rooms but Wi-Fi in the lobby area. Dinner and breakfast buffet style, fair selection for both meals with efficient service..

Thank you for staying with us and for your wonderful comments !

The location is forever. The building is not, and thus it most be nurtured and upgraded, and as I write you this note, we are doing exactly that. Very quietly. I promise all our guests they will be delighted with the results ! In the meantime.... what fantastic rates for huge "standard" rooms that are well appointed! Where in the world can you enjoy a property with the level of service that we provide on a location that is the envy of the industry, at our rates? Honestly. The rooms of the hotel closest to us are the size of our bathrooms... Not to speak of location, services, quality and variety of our cuisine, etc. etc.

We hope to have the honor of serving you again in the near future. Until then, Happy & safe travels !

We stayed at Mayaland in early January. It is a large property, which offers different kinds of accommodation. Very well maintained and beautiful. Our room had two queen beds and was very large. It also had a nice terrace. There is an extra entrance to the archeological park (Chichen Itza) right on the territory of the hotel. This was very comfortable as you do not need to drive to the main entrance. We went early (opens at 8 am) and had very few people around us. It felt like having this beauty all to ourselves!

Room Tip: We stayed in the main hotel (not bungalows) and it seems all the rooms there are nice and large

Great Comments ! You make us all very happy on learning about your experience amongst us !

Like you, i travel the world, promoting our hotel and the services we offer. Truly, the level of service and commitment we are blessed to have from our collaborators is without equal !
Mayaland, being Mexico's tourism pioneer and the hotel, being in the very heart of Chichen Itza, the first hotel in the world built within a pre-hispanic city, are very special. But what makes the experience unique is the relationship with our collaborators !!
We are blessed to enjoy their smiles, commitment to you our guests and hard work. In all my travels, nothing compares.... They are the soul of Mayaland !

due to misinformation we ended up getting on a 2nd class bus that took us 6 hours to get there from Cancun instead of the 2 1/2 we were planning on. When we got to the hotel THEY had lost our reservation, which normally isn't that big of a deal, except that by this point it is later into the evening and we just want to get settled in. It takes about 1/2 an hour and they finally find it. We're taken to our room and it is very lovely, the bathroom did have a musty smell that went away after we opened the windows. The TV and Cable didn't work. We had a most wonderful supper out on the patio overlooking the beautiful gardens. The staff was very polite and attentive. Had a refreshing splash in the pool and slept pretty good. The hotel is in an EXCELLENT place to get to the ruins quickly. We went early and enjoyed the peacefulness of it before all the crowds and vendors arrived. It was wonderful. We got back to our room and had a dip in the pool before packing up. We checked out and then asked about the bus back to Playa, and were given WRONG information again, We were told that there was only second class bus back from the town, so waited for the taxi to take us there. when we told the taxi driver we needed to get to the bus station to catch it back to Playa, he said 'OH you don't need to go to town, you can catch a bus at the Main entrance to the ruins AND there IS a first class bus'. We ended up having to sit and wait for about 4 hours for that bus, when if the front desk person would have told us that we could have stayed on the Hotel grounds and had lunch and enjoyed the gardens. Am thinking the staff could be more knowledgeable about things like that. It would have been a much nicer finish to our trip there.

Thank you for your wonderful comments, which among other measures, have resulted in the hiring of a new concierge, being trained as I write to you, so that the misinformation of the bus schedules does not repeat again.

We all hope to have the pleasure to serve you again in the future. Hasta la Vista!

excellent access to the ruins. makes it possible to have the place (the ruins) to yourself the first couple of hours in the morning. the hotel is nicely laid out and the rooms alright if a little tired and old. a bit of an attitude issue with the personnel - almost as if they see too many tourists for their liking and can be bothered to be more than politely responsive

Thank you for staying with us during your recent visit to Chichen Itza !

We are remodeling all rooms in the southwest building. We are doing so gradually, so we don not disturb a single guest. All bathrooms are being refurbished entirely to a brand new status. All floors to be of local stone and marble throughout both bedrooms and bathrooms.

We hope to have the honor of your visit again soon. Muchas Gracias.
