My husband and then 4-year-old son and I stayed at Mayaland in 2010. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. We spent at least an hour just wandering around the grounds and admiring the beauty. The staff was helpful and respectful and our reservations were honored without any problems. But the most amazing aspect of the stay was the unhindered view of the Chichen Itza ruins from our hotel room windows. Our only regret was that we only stayed for one night instead of several days. It was amazing.

Come back with your family in a few years. Your son will love to experience what you so much appreciated about Mayaland. And are we great full for your comments and the fact you shared them with the wold's traveling community!
When you return, you will experience a new museum on our grounds, devoted to cacao and chocolate. A new planetarium, opening this month, that will assist in the learning of how the Maya saw and interpreted the heavens. We really look forward to being of service to you and your family again. Until then, safe and happy travels!

The hotel is a short walk away from the entrance of the Chichen Itza site. It's a old but pleasant place to be in. The rooms are clean and you can enjoy the chill of the forest at the balcony. Right at the front entrance, you will be able to see the observatory of the Mayan site, which gives a peculiar feeling. The hotel staffs are friendly and is knowledgeable of the attraction near by, which is very helpful. The hotel has a mail box, but they don't sell stamps. You'll need to buy it at the hall of Chichen Itza, which has a mail box next to it as well. Nice hotel!

Good hotel with very good location next to the site.
We only stayed one night and ate there which was also good but do agree that in spite of being an old charming building there are certain areas which could do with a bit of an update

We were impressed by the atmosphere of the location, the staff and the room. We had read reviews telling this is an outdated hotel, but the decor and decoration fit the history of place. The furniture in the room felt retro and there perfectly inline with the place.
The older buildings might do with a bit of TLC like the new bungalows get, but overall a great place to stay.
A tip: inform the bell boys better about what restaurants are open or closed.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a balcony, a great place to end the day

Quick trip to Chichen Itza and stayed one night at Mayaland. Beautiful property and walking distance to all the sights. Service and food was great but property could be updated bit. Overall, great experience and cool hotel history.
