We took the Chichen Itza deluxe tour which included deluxe bus with breakfast on board (ham and cheese baguette, oj and a muffin). Pick up was at 7:00 at the hotel to Xel-Ha where you switch buses depending in where you go. Our guides Enrique and Alex where very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and their Mayan ancestry. You will be given hearing devices so you will hear your guide even if you are not next to him. There are so many incredible things about the place (architecture, acoustics, astronomical) that having such knowledgeable guides was a real plus. We got about an hour after the tour to explore on our own before heading to Valladolid and a cenote before hand. You will have a very good lunch at a local restaurant (buffet style) although take into account that the lunch will be between 16:00 and 17:00 so if you know you'll get hungry from walking make sure you bring something to eat after Chichen Itza. The food at the restaurant is local, not extremely spicy and quite good. The way back was perfect for the siesta, and we got back to our hotel at Playacar after 8 in the evening, tired but enchanted from our day!
