“A unique and memorable experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

We spent Dec. 21-22, 2012 at this exotic and exquisite hideaway, which was the first archaeological site at Chichen-Itza and witnessed the end of the Maya calendar rituals with the shaman at a sacred site on the property. The food was phenomenal as was the very personal service of each staff member. The garden walkways wind around the bungalows and to the very large pool and outdoor dining. The Yaxkin Spa is an experience you DO NOT WANT TO MISS. You won't want to leave, and can't wait to return. This resort is green, pet friendly, and practices sustainable tourism. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a bungalow away from the street where the tour buses park.

This hotel was recommended by our travel agency (Imagine Latin America)
Don't get me wrong, the hotel is beautiful (hacienda style construction) and boasts a very large domain. The room we were allocated was large and clean and the lush gardens make this place a peacdful retreat (great after a long day at Chichen).
Also, and very important, it only takes 10 min to walk to Chichen Itza from the hotel!

However, spending the night in Chichen prevents you from doing anything else than eating at your hotel..:

My best friend and I booked this hotel last minute, without really knowing too much about the place but what a pleasant surprise! The eco resort is located off the beaten track in a beautiful jungle setting with lush gardens. The food in the restaurant is spectacular! The veggies were organic and locally grown by the Mayans. The resort is run by Mayans and the chefs create authentic recipes. On the day we arrived, they had a 3 piece mariachi band that sang in beautiful harmony during dinner! (Not the kind you see on a beach singing to drunken tourist either.) The bungelow we stayed at had two double beds a beautiful fruit basket waiting in our room. No tv's or radio so you can really rest and enjoy the peaceful tranquil surroundings. Some of the bungelows had hammocks and all had rocking chairs and tables with candles to set the mood. There is only wi-fi in the bar area and it is weak but you don't really need to be 'connected' to the outside world when you are here. I had a fantastic massage and skin treatment and it was heaven!!! I totally recommend this resort spa for couples and even a girls spa weekend. The location is right outside the ruins and within walking distance to the back entrance.....hence no lineups....no crowds! Its a short taxi ride (40 pesos) to Piste' which has a few good restaurants if you need a change or a tv! hahaha

Room Tip: Ask for a bungelow with a hammock!

We had a great time at the Hacienda Chichen & Yaxkin Spa to visit the Chichen Itza and to relax. I recommend the hotel for couples, romance and great dining!

I tried the mayan massage which was an amazing experience!

I went on a field study with the University of Cincinnati just a few weeks ago and stayed here. First off the grounds are beautiful as are all the buildings on the property. All the rooms are off the main building which does provide a nice bit of privacy. The room I had was one long room with a king sized bed and a bathroom that did not have a wall that reached the ceiling so sounds can easily pass from the bedroom portion to the bathroom and back again.

The bed was nice but the pillows were not the best and our room had no TV which was not a big deal since we were out and about usually but could be a problem for other travelers.

The biggest issue I had with the place was the restaurant where we had dinner the first night. The dinner was fine but getting the check was excruciatingly slow, so slow I left my fellow diners to deal with it since I had to get back to the room and the place was not busy so was not sure why it took so long. We did ask for it several times before he finally brought it but then took him forever to get back to us.

Overall this is a great place to stay with someone special and is a very easy walk to the ruins and a short cab ride into the town to get supplies.

Spent one night here to allow us to visit the site before the coach parties arrived. It is a very relaxing oasis away from the site. It is a 5 min walk from the mayaland entrance. The food in the restaurant was superb - although the service was slow. The concierge was amazingly helpful in organising a trip to the caves. I would recommend the hotel to families as well.

My husband & I have been staying at the Hacienda every December since we got married 4 years ago. We absolutely love it! We always feel regenerated & refreshed after our stays. The king-sized bed was very comfy & I always make it a point to set up spa treatments for the both of us. I have food restrictions (insulin intolerant) & was thrilled that the new menu offered some standard options for me without having to request a lot of substitutions to my meal!

We will be back again next year!

Room Tip: We have only stayed in the rooms with one bed (queen or king) & highly recommend them all. Our...
