Fantastic pyramid with loads of history - get a private guide to explain all the history - well worth a visit!

El Castillo is the central temple in Chichen Itza which is a showcase of mayan's astronomical and architenctural skills (See Chichen Itza Equinox). Its a master piece among mayan ruins in Yuncatan region and usually confused with "whole Chichen Itza"

Kukulkan is represented by snake (see Spring Equinox in You tube) at the bottom of the pyramid which was Chichen Itza's central worship place. Sadly now it is not allowed to climb the stairs.

After a long bus-ride from Cancun, we were all excited to arrive. My mother and I chose not to follow the tour guide, because we wanted to explore on our own. It was such an incredible day. Pictures can't do justice to the size and scale of Kukulcan. When I first saw it, my jaw dropped. My first thought was, "this is something everyone such see".

If you're in the Yucatan and miss this then you're dumb. Other than Tikal, these are the best Mayan ruins in the world. Stay in the park for a great experience and beat the crowds by exploring a couple hours before the buses arrive. Great night shows, too.
