We stayed in Cancun (awful) and arranged a private tour for just the two of us in a quality car for the 200km trip to Chichen Itza. Our driver/guide said he would pick us up at 8am to get to the site before the tour busses. This was good advice as we got there when it was still relatively quiet. A good guide for just two of you is well worth it as you get detailed explanations of what you are looking at. There is a terrific amount of history if you know what to look for. We finished up with a lunch at the site, but which time the place was filling. An interesting drive through the countryside on the way back was much better that the boring blast along the motorway. We were away 11 hours in total but wouldn't have missed any of it.

Unbelievable! A definite must see. Get there early to avoid queues and heat. Wear trainers or similar not flip flops as terrain is bumpy.

Just a very special place like few in the world. This is a center of harmony, mysticism and positive energy where many different cultures and races meet themselves in Peace. Enjoy...

Very interesting . Much history is here. I had a guide who explained to us the way in which they lived and organizau old maiasi. Deserve to be seen and recommend not to go without a guide to ensure that you do not understand much.

First experienced this architectural wonder in 2005 when you could climb it and enter into a small chamber at the top. While that's no longer a possibility, it still is amazing. Definitely go and hire a guide to take you around.

The age, history and rituals of this great site gives you a peek into the past. The Myan culture Lewis started any tourist about the sophistication of these people in astronomy and mathematics. The area also gives you a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of the people who live during this time.

Pyramid in the middle of an ocean of souvenirs shops. Horrible. Is closed, so you can not walk on it.

This is the main pyramid of the entire complex. Right in the center. When I first visited this site many years ago, you could climb up, now you can't. Worth checking out from all perspective and frankly worth having a guide explain to you the steps on each side, the snakes at the bottom, and how the pyramid was constructed. I love it.

Well worth being a Wonder of the World. I was blessed to have an early entry so I was there before the crowds. Plus it was cooler then too.

Well worth seeking out and taking the time to read about and enjoy.

The Wow factor? The feeling that you are in another space and time. It was like turning back the pages of history and experiencing the ancient times when the Mayas were in their greatest heights of achievement in architecture. It is highly recommended for every citizen of the world to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This place was AMAZING. Our tour guide really knew his information. We bought this as a packaged deal with the Cenote and it was worth it. You are taken around the different places and told about what each of the sites were used for. All of the information is just amazing. The guides tell you not to talk to the vendors there because they are ripping people off. This is a must see.
