“Had to scratch it off the bucket list...”

We have always wanted to visit Chichen Itza and it did not disappoint. But I would not return because it is such a tourist trap. The ruins are beautiful and well preserved. I was a little disappointed that you could not climb the ruins but I totally understand due to the amount of foot traffic. Ek Balam ruins are near by if you really want to scramble up a pyramid(the tallest in the Mayan world) for the view. Chichen is also the first Maya ruins we have visited where they allow the vendors inside the park and ruins. That is a check in the "against" column.

“Very impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

An iconic image of the Yucatan area & an image synonymous with Mayan ruins. It certainly is impressive & well worth the visit & if you have a local guide to give you the history etc, then even more worthwhile. Go early when if you can before the crowds start pouring in & try to ignore all the vendors which detract from the experience somewhat. Take water to drink, it's very hot walking around Chichen Itza.

“Amazing Site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Stunning site. The sound effects are amazing so is the architecture. Doesn't quite match let's say Macchu Piccu..but definitely worth spending a day. For serious visitors it might be a good idea as posted by other visitors to stay over night and show up first thing in the morning..

“Early morning”

We stayed in a nearby hotel, so we were able to see and shoot the Pyramid without thousands of tourists milling about like locusts.

“So Worth It!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

It's a long long drive but more than worth it. Light show was not that exciting but enjoyed the personal tour which I purchased for a reasonable price. Much more interesting than Tulum and the one tour all should do.
