From hanging out with Victor and him showing everyone the ropes for different scheduled events (think cooking classes, cocktail classes, yoga, etc)... to even just Mike at the front desk being helpful, this hostel is a definite favorite. Great ambience. I really wish we could have stayed longer :)

It's not far from some shops and bars, and there's a little corner store about half a block away. They organize beach trips as well and it is nice to be away from the touristy parts and feel more like a local.

The hostel is really clean and the staff is very friendly. It is a good place to meet people, there is heaps of activities and social events organised at least 4 a day which create a friendly environment. The breakfast is really yummy and the dinner is great value for money. I would highly recommend this places for anyone who is traveling to Cancun.

My husband and I flew into Cancun on New Year's Eve and spent a week staying at the Mezcal hostel. We aren't really resort types, but I also wanted us to stay somewhere a little nicer than the average hostel. After reading reviews and looking through the pictures, I settled on a private room at Mezcal. Room was spacious, clean, bathroom had a nice walk-in shower with a ledge to sit on if needed. I read a lot of complaints about the noise, but from our room it was never really an issue. We stayed in the Patron room. This hostel wasn't the "crazy unending party hostel" I kept reading about. I found it to be a great balance of fun, entertaining and laid back. There is ALwAYS something to do there thanks to the entertainment staff- Huge shout out to Victor-- he's amazing and a lot of fun and very accomodating. We want to do shots of tequila and play games- he was there. We wanted to organize a snorkel trip- he did it for us. We wanted to go to the beach, he took the bus with us there. Great guy! We aren't the go out to the club types- but he'll definitely hook you up with some all you can drink deals at the clubs in Cancun. The pool is definitely small and its not heated (I wasn't expecting it to be) so in 70 degree F weather, we didn't really swim at the hostel. Having breakfast AND dinner included was a huge perk. The made to order omelets in the morning were our favorite. Also- if you're on a budget there is an AMAZING seafood taco, tostada, ceviche place practically next door which you can get a good meal for less than $5 US. If I can find that place on tripadvisor I'm going to recommend them like no other. Over all- good stay! It's not very close to the Hotel Zone- you can't walk or anything. But we rented bikes one day (big thanks to Andrew who even let us use his own personal bike when we didn't reserve one early enough for the day- he was also a helpful, informative staff member!) and went down to that area and the other days the R1 bus goes straight there for about 12 pesos. It was a huge plus having the ADO bus station about 7 min walk away. Good location, decent food, great staff!

Room tip: Because of the time we came the price of a private room was a little more than usual. No problems with noise or AC in the Patron room.
