Was a nice hotel but wouldn't rate it 5 star. Had no balcony, had to purchase wifi ( and only works when you inside the hotel building).was a bit noisy because you can hear every little noise coming from the hallway when you are in your room. Entertainment was amazing the staff are really super nice. The activities during the day were lots of fun thanks to Oskar,Alejandro, Edgar, Sabastian (the activities team) you guys were amazing and made it fun for us:). The beach was clean and loved the towels service at the beach;);).

Room Tip: Ocean view room

Good value for the cost of this all-inclusive.

The food is decent which aligns with the cost of the hotel: good, but not high quality. The restaurant staff consistently provided excellent service for my family with or without a tip. Grand Oasis Palm is part of complex that includes the Oasis Palm Beach. An all-inclusive at the Grand Oasis Palm includes access to the Oasis Palm Beach restaurants, but an all-inclusive at the Oasis Palm Beach only includes access to that one hotel. The Grand Oasis Palm has better quality and less crowded restaurants so I recommend paying a little more to stay at the Grand Oasis Palm.

The beach is beautiful like most in Cancun. It is not very deep so the number of chairs available is limited. Common practice is to lay a beach towel at a favorite location early morning to save it for when you are ready to visit the beach. There are no waves except small ones when an occasional boat passes outside of the swim area. The water depth increases very gradually thoroughly the swim area. This makes the beach ideal for small children.

The rooms were fine and look like the images that I reviewed on several booking sites. Housekeeping did a fine job of cleaning and restocking. The tap water is not good so we were thankful for the complimentary water bottles in the room to drink and brush our teeth. If you wash or rinse your swimwear in the shower it will have a light sour smell after it dries. Internet access is an extra charge per device not per room. There is a safe in the room that can be rented for $7 USD/day (as of December 2014). It is fairly large where it held our 15 in. laptop, three kindle tablets, an iPad, and other valuables.

The elevator system is poor. While checking in I asked about booking a room on a low floor because several reviewers recommended this because of the slow elevators. I was told that those reviews were from a time before the elevators made maintenance done to them. The slow elevators has nothing to do with maintenance. The slow elevators are because a decision was made before the hotel was built to install two small elevators. The hotel is now stuck with small elevators and that cannot be easily changed. The two elevators measure about 5 ft x 6 ft so at best eight people can crowd into one elevator. During a busy time of day the capacity of the two small elevators means there is a line to get to your room. The rooms above the 5th floor have a reasonable view of the hotel strip above the surrounding buildings, but you may have to wait up to ten minutes for the elevator. The lower floors make using the stairs a better option.

The greeters at the bottom of the elevator and around the lobby is aggressive about offering a tour of the complex. The goal is not to orient you to the resort, it is to escort you to a presentation about committing to a package of future stays at the hotel. It takes a lot of saying ‘no’ to avoid giving up 1-2 hours of your vacation for something that may be of little value to you. They stop bothering you after you look like you have been there for a few days.

A cab from the airport was about $25 USD so use this as a guide to booking transportation from airport to the hotel. You can pay significantly higher rates through vacation booking services. We booked through a link from the Cancun airport website to have someone at the airport with our name on a sign and not be lead away by someone selling time shares or other services.

I visited a bank before the trip and withdrew a bundle of US one dollar bills that was the equivalent of $10/day. This is very helpful to have a dollar bill readily available for the tip-driven service throughout all of the Cancun area. We exchanged cash at a local bank and the hotel instead of an ATM or exchanging money at the airport. ATM fees are expensive for US based cards and the airport is a federal zone so the exchange rate is low. I used a credit card without foreign transaction fees so I cannot speak to the extra cost associated with credit card purchases.

Beware that you need to use the entire hotel name when searching for information about the Grand Oasis Palm. The words Oasis and Palm are used as part of the name of many other hotels in the area. Knowing to use the correct hotel name, Grand Oasis Palm, will also avoid confusion with Taxi and bus drivers when in Cancun. We used our hotel bracelet to show the correct name of our hotel for a taxi driver who took us to the wrong hotel early in our vacation. That ended up being a very funny experience for all of us in the taxi. Be careful that any excursion with a hotel pick up is booked using the correct hotel. One of our excursions was booked from the wrong hotel resulting in quite a hassle to resolve.

Our stay in Cancun was very relaxing and enjoyable at the Grand Oasis Palm.

Room Tip: Choose a lower floor during check in if you want to your room faster. The elevator system is poor. While checking in I asked about booking a room on a low floor because several reviewers recommended this because of the slow elevators. I was told that those reviews were from a time before the elevators made maintenance done to them. The slow elevators has nothing to do with maintenance. It seems that you either love this place or you really dislike it. We enjoyed our stay here and wish we could have been there longer. The people who work there are amazing and are always ready to help you out in any way. I can not name everyone, but the service and smiles were amazing!!! The food was good in all of the restaurants except the Oasis buffet. The steak was especially tasty and we enjoyed it 3 times, although we haven't eaten red meat for awhile. The sushi bar excellent for lunch or late afternoon snack. New Year's dinner was excellent!!! The fire show fantastic!
The only downfall for us was the annoying "HolidayLifestyle" sales people who lie, lie and bother you constantly. Why this hotel allows it to go on is beyond me.

This was our fifth visit to the area. The hotel is nice and we would rate it as a 3 to 3.5 star as it was not the norm we are used to. No balcony and no grounds to walk. Very clean and the staff is nice.

Stayed 1-8 Jan

Pros;

Clean
Nice staff
Food - good at all locations but basically the same. It was the same with the speciality restaurants. All six of us had no issues finding something we liked.
Beach is nice, small, super shallow (a plus for family with young kids)
Pools nice
Activities - ok to good
If stay at Grand you can get a day pass to Grand Oasis Cancun which has an amazing beach (big waves and lots of sand) and very nice grounds
There is a $1 bus to go into town for ice cream, Starbucks with free wireless and flea markets.
Price- very well priced. Good value.

Cons

More of a hotel than a resort
Pay for safe ($7 a day- haven't seen this in years)
Pay for very slow internet connection (criminal less then .380 Mb) at $5/hr
Note - restaurants at the Grand side staff were well trained great service however the Oasis side they require training. Had breakfasts with no coffee offered! And staff reaching across of me to get other dishes as I was eating.
Beach water max depth 3-3.5ft no snorkelling

Overall we enjoyed our stay. My wife and I with our four children ages 19-24 all enjoyed the stay. A good value for the price.

I recently spent 2 weeks at Grand Oasis Palm in Cancun. I think that the hotel offered exactly what I expected for the price I paid. There is nothing good or bad i want to mention about the hotel but I really want to thank HERVIN, our waiter on the beach. He is the perfect mix of humor and fast service.
I do not know if I will ever go back to Oasis Palm but i will certainly go to see Hervin again when i am in Cancun.
Thank you Hervin for your great service provided.
