Thankfully I went to mexico after spring break was over. Yet i'm still not impressed with this resort. Seems like a bunch of amateurs are running the place. On my 4th day, I noticed that someone went in my room and moved my stuff around after the cleaning lady was done. I called management and they came to my room, scanned the card reader and turned out one of the hotel staff had entered my room in the evening while I was gone. When I asked why he was in my room and why my things were moved I got no answer and they told me they had to investigate.

The food was pretty basic, nothing special plus they had no premium liquor. My last time in Cancun was at the Gran Park Royal next door and the food and service was much better for a lower price and they offered all types of premium at no extra cost (don julio, black label, belvedere)

The pool was nice but the entertainment was there all the time with music, talking on the mic and I was kind of disappointed there was no swim up bar.

The location was pretty convenient close enough to the downtown area yet not to close.

The beach was very nice and they had plenty of beds and chairs for everyone.

The Wifi was free on the resort and never to slow.

Room Tip: Ocean View is a must although Ocean view equals pool view

Amazingly surprised...better than expected! My husband and I celebrated our 10 wedding anniversary at this resort. It was our second time in Cancun and the resort and location was great. Mid way between town and great shopping. Food was very good. Room was very nice and comfortable...was upgraded to oceanview but was on the second floor which was very noisey. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would visit in the future.

Room Tip: Steer away from rooms over the pool area if need rest and relaxation.

This is our 4th stay at this hotel. It is truly a 5 star place. The beach was gorgeous in Mar 2012 - you could walk in either direction for miles. The rooms are not ready before 3pm so be ready to go get lunch and some cocktails as soon as you arrive. The hotel does not cater to rowdy spring breakers. There were some very nice and well behaved college kids there while we stayed. All the restaurant food was excellent - The only thing I felt lacking was different types of fish - always served the same whitefish fillets (just in different sauces) Restaurant reservations were easily attainable so we made them for the week on our 2nd morning there. You can have your choice of the quiet pool or the "activity" pool. Both were great except the "activity" pool could have turned down the volume a bit.
All the staffers there are wonderful. Yes, they do like their tips, but if you were only paid a few $'s per day you would certainly be nice to customers to make any extra you could too! This hotel is also located within walking distance to 2 shopping malls which is something else to do if you want to get out of the sun for a while. Hotel entertainment in the lobby bar in the evenings was excellent! Would definately go back again!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the quiet pool are just as nice as the ones overlooking the activity pool and they...

Good
Food was good, enjoyed the buffets as well as the Mexican and Italian restaurant
Rooms - nice rooms, clean with a lot of space

Bad
This is not a family resort during spring break, this place is loaded with loud obnoxious spring breakers who act like they never have had a drink before. It should be noted that although most USA spring breaks are over by the end of March, the Mexican spring breaks are just getting started.

It never ceases to amaze me how people every year complain about the spring breakers. Every year its the same thing. You'd think one would learn to stay away from such places during spring break and not leave bashing reviews for the resorts. This resort is fabulous! Everyone that works there is super friendly and become like family. I will admit last time I stayed here they were doing some renovation and we had to upgrade our room to get away from the construction noise. Also, our favorite bar on the beach was closed for the majority of our stay due to the renovation, which caused us to have to stay at the lobby bar which wasn't as relaxing and had not so great bands, but still great fun. I fell in love with Cancun, Mexico and this resort, and I will continue to stay here every year. Pepe at the beach bar is wonderful. If you meet him, you'll understand how helpful he is. I just really wish people wouldn't leave such negative reviews about the resort when they visited CANCUN on spring break! It is like the capital of spring break... and to expect a FAMILY vacation, with KIDS?! Go somewhere else that's more expensive (out of budget for most teens) and not been known for years as a spring break destination. Or better yet, don't go anywhere on spring break and wait until it's more of family vacation time! I LOVE GRAN CARIBE! Great job you guys :) See you in December!!

This hotel looks a lot better in pics than real life. The food is awful, unless you make reservations for their upscale restaurant. The staff is okay. We unfortunatley were pressured into buying into their vacation club. Also we were looking forward to swimming in the ocean, until the lifeguards would only let you wade your feet in the water. This continued for the whole trip. So being on the gorgeous ocean without being able to really enjoy it sucked! We had also called in the night before our excursion trip for a sack lunch to be ready by 7:30, which was not ready by the time our tour bus left. I would not stay here again. :(

We stayed at this hotel from March 24-31st, based upon representations by our travel company, Funjet, and the hotel's web site, that said it was "family friendly." This might be the case most of the year, but in this instance, the hotel had apparently contracted with a travel agency called Traveo that unleashed probably 300-600 teenagers traveling by themselves upon the place. The resulting situation most closely approximates Bushwood Country Club during Caddy Day, but fueled by alcohol and who knows what other substances (hint: this is a reference to Caddy Shack for those of you who have seen the movie).

On a "big picture" level, there was plenty that went awry. Drunk kids at the dinner tables, drunks shoving my family in the elevator banks or walking down the halls, all-night alcohol-fueled rages outside our hotel room, hung-over, drunk, and vomiting kids in the restaurants during breakfast, cigarette butts everywhere, staff that was so ovewhelmed by the teenagers that they couldn't serve appropriately.

There were no restful nights in this hotel - the kids made prank calls not just to us, but to many other guest rooms and they ran amok every night banging doors and yelling throughout the hotel. Then they woke us up in the morning when they returned from their night out between 4 and 6 am. There was stuff (I don't know what) spilled throughout the elevators and hallways every night. The bathrooms by the pool stank of vomit the whole week - disgusting. We couldn't let our kids out of sight for two minutes because the teenagers would mess with them.

Then there were the near fights when the teenagers shoved family members, the near fight at the snack bar in front of my family, and the hours spent trying to deal with hotel management, which was entirely unresponsive concerning the situation (they said they couldn't do anything unless there was a specific violation of hotel policy by an individual, and they said they could not put us up in another hotel). This despite the fact that the staff freely admitted that the Spring breakers had completely taken over the hotel.

Here's a question for anyone who cares: would a family friendly hotel set up a Jaegermeister Party Zone for teenagers? Think MTV "Spring Break."

The food - frankly, it was hard to tell. Most meals at the hotel were spent dodging drunks and trying to get the attention of the overworked staff, who I'm sure were great, but who were also overwhelmed by the tidal wave of drunk teens Traveo unleashed on the hotel. What we did eat was mediocre at best.

Good things about the hotel: The kids club was good, and the staff were very good with the kids. I can't imagine them being better - they were tremendous. The maid service in our room was excellent. We managed to escape to the Royal next door a few times, and that hotel had no Spring breakers - it was an island of tranquility. We loved the spin class every morning.

Room Tip: If there are Spring Breakers - choose another hotel.
