Very nice site (probably an inland portion of the El Rey site) with several small ceremonial buildings and structures for villas and small housing. The museum has great gardens and architecture. Upstairs is a small but nice collection of Maya artifacts with some English (but largely Spanish) signage. Pieces cover from prehistoric through the Spanish conquest. There is a small book store. A good spot on a rainy day. The jungle keeps most of the rain off outside, but carry an umbrella.

Free if over 65 and Mexican. Opens at 9am 57 pesos. They made trails through the jungle to ancient mayan ruins that are not all that interesting but I liked the massive jungle trees and listening to the birds and seeing the huge termite nests in the trees. Get there when it opens. They were spraying insecticide fog when we arrived. It is a short walk from the royal Caribbean and captians Cove. . Additionly there is a museum on the second floor which houses artifacts and has videos with English subtitles. Tip see the jungle first then take the elevator up and walk to the end near the entrance and start the museum visit there.

This is a beautiful museum that captures the rich history of the meso american cultures. The Myan ruins adjacent to the museum as well as the site further down the high way at El Rey - are fascinating - and don't require a two hour drive .

The museum is in the hotel zone and they charge about $56 mexican pesos per person. When you first come in they have a nice, small exhibit that isn't related to the Mayans. Upstairs they have many Mayan artifacts that are really wonderful from jewelry to weapons. They also have a long winding "road" that has a handful of ruins to check out. They really aren't that great except for the one all the way at the end (El Rey ruins nearby is better for this). The ruins are not wheel chair accessible They also have a small gift shop with decent prices.
