We took a chance on this small, unassuming restaurant and were rewarded with a fine dining experience none of us will ever forget. Every facet of the evening was absolutely world-class, matching and beating the cuisine and service at our favorites in New York, Paris, Chicago, and New Orleans. The restaurant, nestled in a small local mall, is attractive and nicely appointed. We left satisfied, pleased, and genuinely happy.
Arriving by cab, we were greeted outside the front door by our wonderful waiter, Raoul, who, it turned out, had accepted our reservation and was waiting for us, making sure we found our way. From then on, Raoul was the perfect combination of ever-present but completely unobtrusive, answering our questions and tending to our needs the moment we looked around for help, yet invisible the rest of the time, allowing us to enjoy the sumptuous meal. Raoul did an excellent job describing and translating the menu items and the several specials, and he also recommended an excellent wine from the middle of the list (to me, a sign of honesty). He and his team offered impeccable table service, painstakingly aligning flatware and china, precisely timing servings, and dutifully keeping our drink, water, and wine glasses full. Most importantly, he seemed so personally invested in our satisfaction; he was very pleased when we told him we liked a course. At the end of the evening, we told him how impressed we were by the entire experience, the food, the wine, and especially the service; he seemed genuinely emotional that we were so happy.
While the service was the high point of the night, the food was equally impressive. Each appetizer and entree (there were four of us) was creative and artfully presented, and the portion sizes were plentiful. The meats were tender and cooked spot-on to our orders, and the seafood was fresh and delicious. Every course could not have been better. And, at the end of the evening, the chef came to our table to see how we enjoyed it all and to add his own thanks for our patronage.
We chose Les Cepages over some of the other larger, more famous restaurants, ones that are located in the hotel district and that are very expensive. We were so glad we went local, finding exquisite food, personalized service, and a local experience we will never forget.
