“Best holiday ever”

It was the best holiday we ever had. The resort is great as well as all staff. My parents and i had a wonderful time and we'd like to thank especially Juan Queno, manager at the pool and Philip who works at hospitalidy dept, you and all staff made us like feel like family.

Room Tip: Since you'd spend most of the day by the beach, so it doesn't matter much if it is a Ocean V...

The resort was beautiful. We were in the Royal Service area and the pool staff were all wonderful! We would especially like to acknowledge the waiters Francisco, Octavio and Rogelio and David the pool attendant for their over and above service and attention. They were a delight and truly made our vacation. Thanks guys!!
The rooms were nice, cleaned well everyday and the bed was very comfortable - we slept well every night!

Room Tip: It was worth taking the ocean side.

The other reviews have already covered what a lovely resort this is. We are Melia members, but did not chose royal service. We selected a studio and it was more than enough for our purposes! It had a partial oceanfront view and was kept meticulously clean by the staff, all of whom are every bit as friendly and caring as described in other reviews. What made the trip very special for us is that every one of the restaurants had delicious gluten free options. We are gluten free by necessity, not by choice, and since we still get many blank stares in the US from wait staff when we ask for gluten free options, we figured my lame Spanish would get quite the workout or we'd simply be eating lots of corn dishes to avoid gluten. What a pleasant surprise the Paradisus Cancun has in store for us! The "Mole" Mexican restaurant was our favorite as they offered gourmet Mexican food and with gluten free options marked on the menu. They offered us gluten free bread, as well as corn chips with guacamole for starters. The Tamarind Margarita with Sea Scallop and Bacon Skewer with Mango chutney was fantastic, and the Stewed Lamb Mixiote with Red Radish, Cured Onion, Coriander and Corn Tortilla was so delicious that we went back a 2nd time to have it again! the breakfast and lunch buffet at "Naos" was very extensive and we had no problems finding gluten free items there either. In fact, every day, the chef has at least one special gluten free desert, so I'm sure I put on a few pounds. There are usually several items marked "gluten free," but if you ask about the ingredients on some of the other items, you will also find that they are gluten free, but no one thought about marking them as such. (Recommendation to Naos staff: if the recipe doesn't have gluten in it, go ahead and label it gluten free!) In the Asian fusion restaurant, Bana, the wait staff were easily able to point us to gluten free dishes and they were knowledgeable enough to know that soy contains gluten. (Recommendation to the Bana restaurant: if you have some Tamari sauce on hand, you can use that instead of soy for your gluten free customers and expand your offerings). the staff at Vento and chef at Vento went out of their way to provide delicious gluten free tapas for us. The Fuego restaurant seemed to have the fewest gluten free options (menu wasn't labeled), but our waiter and the chef adapted their offerings so that we waddled back to our room completely stuffed on fine food. For those who can eat anything, this may not be a big deal, but those of us who are gluten free usually end up feeling deprived at restaurants - we generally can't eat at buffets 'cause we have no idea what's in the food, and often end up watching others eat bread and dessert and pretending we don't mind that we can't eat it. Or our food is very "plain" with no special sauces etc. because the typical offering is "we can hold the sauce on that and make it gluten free." Many thanks to the Melia chefs for creating gluten free options that enable to "fine dine" with everyone else without feeling deprived. They actually made us feel "special" instead. I'm hoping the entire Melia family of resorts is catching on to this trend - we'll find out at Playa del Carmen next year!

By the way, the evening entertainment at the Avenue Bar was also very good. We particularly enjoyed "Carusso" and the wandering sax players.

Room Tip: Well, the four buildings are in the shape of a pyramid, so not everyone gets an ocean front room. I...

excellent hotel (royal service)!, extremely friendly stuff, ha, after coming back home i stiil couldn't help greeting people around with "hola" and smiling, just like they did in Paradisus, Excellent beach bar (Octavio, the waiter, Hola))) Strongly recommend to try local mochito with basil (not traditional mint) from Francisco, the barman. If you do go there, don't be stingy, get yourself an ocean view room (i had 3018, breathtaking!!!)
Beach bar is excellent, no need to go to Naos - the mail restaurant - just in case you'll let your hair loose and won't be able to help overeating - you can enjoy a nice meal at the beach bar... - Alex, the chef, respect!
But the sea beats all - it's turquoise colour, rough, salty , but veeery clean.
Special thnks to the Pyramid 5 team - Victor, Aidee, hector and Natalia, very efficeint and just nice guys))
Wnanna come back one day, Hola!

Room Tip: ocean view rooms

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

Just got back from 6 days here & overall it was a good trip. Going into it, this was my second time in Cancun. First time I stayed at the Sun Palace, so from the beginning I knew it wouldn't be as good, but was still happy, considering we got a great deal-def. made it worth it!
When we arrived we checked in(did not get resort credits at first like we were supposed to, but got resolved second day) & got to our room, which was in the 3rd pyramid. Room was great, minus the power going off in our room 1 night & the sink getting clogged. Room was lagoon view & updated, very nice, would rate it a 9 out of 10!

Actual resort was great also, was big, modern, very nice! Didn't think i'd like the atrium, but loved it!

The ocean was great too, although would be perfect if it was a little more groomed. Never had an issue getting a chair on the beach.

Service was also great, everyone
was so helpful & pleasant!

The food is where part of the issue was. The buffet was ok, not very good for a picky eater, but was still tolerable! One night we ate at Bana, and did not care for it. Last night we ate at Vento & loved it! loved the beef & mashed potatoes! Wish we found it from day 1! The market grill(i believe was the name) is closed...& the menu had everything imaginable! Def. think I would have enjoyed the food more if it was open! (they're in the process of remodeling) Also got room service twice(no charge) & it was also ok..

loved the free wifi! I've read mixed statements about it, but it is free!

Now to the guests.. most were ignorant & rude! Everyone seemed so stuck up & full of themselves..not sure why, since it isn't one of the top rated resorts--people at the sun palace were much nicer & friendly! Most of the old women & well most girls were wearing thongs & it was quite disturbing, especially with children around--i can see if you were at an adult only, but none-the-less, was pretty gross!

Also liked that there was a papa johns, mc donalds, oxox(or xoxo) & 7 eleven across the street..def worth walking & saving money as the resort shops are always expensive!

Overall it was a good trip, like i said compared to the sun palace, i liked there better, but for half the price, I was happy with what I got! Would I do it again? For the right price, yes, & prob more likely to if the other restaurant was open!

I think this is the best hotel we have ever been!!! Try the ocean view and you will be amazed by the views! Now the service at the pool bar, the cleaning people, the concierge, the front desk people are all very professional and caring and this is one hotel you have to try. Thanks to all Paradisus Cancun workers for the nice holiday you gave us.
