“The "Best" in Cancun.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is our second time at Paradisus, formerly Gran Melia. We always stay in the royal pyramid, service is amazing. Samuel our butler was very attentive. Poolside, Sergio helped us find the best bali beds near the beach and at LaPalapa Francisco was always there to bring us our drink of choice and cater to our every need. Simply the best service in Cancun. We'll be back!!!

We stayed at the Paradisus and could not have been happier with the choice. The location is great-close enough to the main tourist hub (10 minutes) but far enough away that you never have to see it if you do not want to. The beach was clean and well maintained, and there was plenty of room in either direction for a long walk or beach run. We cannot say enough about the service and how professional and attentive the staff was-it was first rate. The rooms were clean, presented well and had enough space so that you never felt as if your were tripping over each other. The only downside was that some of the food at the buffet was only above average. That said others were better and we would recommend Fuego, Mole and Blue Agave. In sum, we would not only recommend Paradisus, but intend to return on our next trip to Cancun.

Room Tip: We would recommend spending the extra for a beach front room so that you are not facing another hote...

Paradisus is unbelievable. The Royal Service experience is well worth the money for the experience you will receive in return. The staff at this all inclusive is the best we have encountered anywhere. Special Thanks to Luz, Vanessa, Sergio, Karina, Mauricio, Leonardo, Jesus, Francisco, Consuela, Octavio, Aidee, Diana, Gerardo in Royal Service, Margarita in Mole, Alphonso in Vento and of course our butler, Alexis, who is outstanding! It is this team of people who make this eye catching resort the best in Cancun! 4 pools, great beach, great views and service by a very knowledgeable team make Paradisus a must visit resort! Our family of six had a fantastic time. Waverunner rentals are a walking distance from the hotel, an added bonus.

Just got home from our week vacation in Cancun. My husband and I with our 2 grandchildren ages 9 and 7 had a wonderful relaxing week. The Paradisus is a beautiful resort. We had a greeting at the airport with roses and cold water from our transportation with the Greyline people. Upon arriving at the hotel we were immediately greeted and taken to the Family Concierge. We got arm bracelets and the kids got backpackets full of sandtoys and sunscreen. They recieved a hat and teeshirt too.We were explained all our immenities and greeted by our butler Hervik. He took us directly to our room. He made reservations for us in a restaurant and for a Bali bed later in the week. (Get one of those if you can!) Brought the kids a boogie board for the week too. Even brought us a bottle of Voda which we did not drink. Later in the week he brought us a surprise of tecquilla shots and spiced peanuts. We don't drink, but in Mexico it's all about drinking if you like that sort of thing. They also turn down your bed at night and leave little chocolates and bring the kids huge cookies and milk. They refill the fridge eveyday with drinks and botteled water. We had an oceanview that was simply gorgeous with 2 private balconies. 7th floor. The room was comfortable and kept very cool (our own thermostat) and the bathroom was beautiful. Everything worked wonderfully. Right outside our door was a beautiful view in the center of the hotel with vines growing all the way down.

Their was alot of food and restaurants to choose from. My family is very picky and we don't eat seafood so the food to us was not that great. We ate breakfast every morning in Naos the buffet. The omlets were good, but had to wait in line to get one. Lots to choose from. The homemade bread and rolls were very good. The juice was all fresh squeezed. We ate at the Market grill once and enjoyed the view of the ocean right there. We liked The Blueaquave mexican restaurant with tacos and quesadillas.

We did take the bus right outside the front of the hotel (down many steps). It helps tons if you can speak spanish because the language barrier is great. We went to the aquarium one afternoon and the bus driver dropped us off 3 blocks too far. Now in July it is sweltering sun and this was not a pleasant walk. When we got their our resevations had gotten mixed up. We made it for four and they only had 3 spots available so my husband sat out, and so we had a little bump in the road. We finally got in and the kids and I had the most amazing swim with the dolphins experience! You have to do that if you can. The dolphins actually push your feet and make you seem like your flying. Take a movie camera if someone sits out. They take pictures, but are very pricey.

The ocean water is the most beautiful color of blues. Its crystal clear and the sand is white and soft. On one of our evenings on the beach about 9:30 pm we saw a very large sea turtle who had come up out of the ocean to lay her eggs. They make large holes in the sand. We wondered who was making these holes? Nature people do take the eggs and put them in safe place to hatch later. This was very cool to see.

We did get a free sunset cruise with the Greyline transportation people. Loads of fun! Again lots of booze and drinking games. But they bring you back to a restaurant and so if you choose not to stay and eat there, you must take the bus back. Not so bad, just tough crossing the street and vendors anoying you.

We never did get bothered by a timeshare person. Which we assumed we would. Only at the Cancun airport, but not in the resort.

I gotta say our experience was a most enjoyable one. All the employees always greeted us and just in passing said hello. They were very helpful and attentive. All the drinks of any kind you can drink. They come to the beach, the pool, everywhere and ask if everthing is "OK". Food by the pool everyday and music made it so fun. The all inclusive is just that. Only money needed for tips. They work very hard for those.

Only negatives we encountered were inconsiderate people who hogged the chairs with towels early by the pool. You want shade if you can find it. We did find a table with chairs everyday down on the beach if you go no later than 11am. We only could find 1 working ice machine for the whole hotel! This was a pain because we like ice in our drinks and I had to go down to the first floor to get ice. Our refrigerater did not keep very cold. My family did not care for the food too much although we are picky eaters.

Over all view of this hotel...I would recommend it and would deffinetly go back!

Room Tip: We had an oceanview on the 7th floor and it was beautiful. If you take a family DEFFINITELY get the...

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay at the hotel. Our team takes great pride in providing exceptional service and we are happy to see if have even mentioned certain team members.

We regret to learn that you were affected by the reservations of the beach/pool chairs made by other guests, nevertheless we must remark that our resort does not encourage this situation, on the contrary, the towels used for reserving pool chairs are retired by the members of our staff after 30 min if any guest is using it.

the other hand, I was concerned to learn that you the food offerings did not satisfy your needs. Please accept our apologies for being not able to meet your expectations. We are constantly striving to maximize our food offerings in order to match diversity of tastes and it is our aim to achieve the highest level of service at all areas of the hotel. We discussed you comments with our Executive chief and the Food and Beverage Manager.

Thank you once again; We hope we may welcome you soon at the Paradisus Cancún Resort.

Warm regards,

First off, this is definitely a first class establishment. The staff is wonderful and the grounds are very well maintained. It, however, is too big for its own good. It took my friend and I about three days to really get oriented to the facility. I am going to ramble a little, because there was so much to take in and review....
If you do stay here, it is imperative that you have a room with an ocean view because it is well worth it. The views from the other side are very dull and unimpressive.
The room and lobby decor is very plain and could use some updating.......and some color. For some reason, we could hear people moving furniture in the room above us. Walking thru the lobbies is both pleasant and annoying because there is a continual scent of burning candles which can become not so pleasant after awhile.
The primary staff members are bilingual, so communication is not a problem and the maid service is excellent.
Okay...more..... The gym (YHI Spa) has very good equipment for a full workout. I, however, did not take advantage of the spa treatments that were available. The offereings were very good, but very pricey.
I actually came here by invitation of a friend of mine who had timeshare privileges. We did not purchase the all inclusive meal plan, but we are not sorry about that because the food in the Naos restaurant was not that wonderful. A large selection of foods for each meal, but except for a few items, it was not very flavorful. If you are not a heavy eater, you can eat out or go to a store and bring some items into your room. If, however, you intend on remaining on the grounds for your entire stay......the all inclusive is an option. (although, it appears that next year you will be required to stay as an all inclusive.)
I thouroughly enjoyed the Michael Jackson impersonation show that was part of the nightly entertainment. It was a good rendering of a live show....with some energetic dancing.
Unfortunately....I became sick after a day of scuba diving and the medical staff on hand was excellent at examining my condition. Suffered from dehydration and dizziness...and they were calm in asking questions and advising on what to do.
Hmmm.... Overall, a wonderful stay on a great beach. Oh.....one important thing.....you must get out early in order to get a hut on the beach. With the hut, you can stay out and relax for a long time.........without it.....it is hot!
Staff is great at recommending activities to participate in.
Well......like I said.....I am ramblilng. Suffice to say that if you love the beach and resort accomodations...........you will not be disappointed! Just be prepared to hand out a lot of tips to staff.

Room Tip: You must have an ocean view of the beach and pool area to have a truly wonderful experience. Get ou...

One of the best resorts we have visited!! We’ve stayed at two other resorts in Cancun and the Paradisus by far is the best for families with kids. Our 7 and 5 year old had a blast at the kid’s center. Daniela one of the kid’s staff was very special with all the kids and our children fell in love with her. Also we recommend the sushi bar Bana, not only was the sushi delicious but the staff really goes out of their way to keep you happy. The hostess Violeta was very kind and courteous to allow us as a last minute reservation. Then the service by our waiter Antonio Ortiz was professional. All the folks at the Paradisus Resort have done an excellent job at pampering our every need. Paradisus staff are the best!!

Room Tip: Any ocean view rooms are gorgeous!!

We had a great time at the Paradisus. It was truly paradise. The welcome upon arrival was amazing. The beach was beautiful, the staff kept the drinks coming and the maid service kept the rooms tidy. The grounds are well kept.

The negatives:

The food at the buffet was not too impressive but a good variety of dishes. I loved the breakfast smoothies...beets, spinach, carrots etc...Love it. Be sure to make reservations to the other restaurants or you will be having the buffet. The buffet needs more seating....I should not have to wait on a line for a buffet. They need to get rid of they Market Grill restaurant to allow more seating for the buffet. The bars shut down about 2am and no 24hr snack area....Dont bother upgrading to the Royal services....well, you'll get your own butler and a reserved cabana by the private pool and a few other things....big deal. We were happy to spend the day at the beach. The waiters at the beach were awesome with the Tequila shots.

Loved Sammy and Victor at Aqua world.....we did the para sailing, snorkeling and Isla Mujeres island. We had an amazing day.

We would go back and bring other couples because we know what to expect....a great relaxing time and wonderful service.
