“Spring Break Paradisus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

We stayed at the Paradisus with our 3 kids (14, 11, 7) over Spring Break. The hotel was built for a great family experience. At first they had our kids' room on a different floor but once we got the Operations Manager and Guest Services Manager involved, the kids were put right next door. Throughout the rest of our stay the Ops Mgr and Guest Services Mgr checked-in on us to make sure we were satisfied. As an all-inclusive the quality and variety of restaurants/food was great. The kids loved going up to the pool bar to order Virgin Pina Coladas and Daiquiris. Skip the 9-hole Par-3 golf course and spend all your time between the beautiful beach, royal blue ocean, and the variety of pools on site.

Room Tip: Do whatever you can to secure an Ocean View Room.

The property was beautiful, the beach sandy, water clean, waves fantastic. rooms had beautiful views-
The food was ordinary- the gym up to date equipment-
and the spa--expensive
The service was fantastic- everyone went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers 14 & 18) spent 5 nights here in February. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and seemed to try hard but they couldn't always get the job done. We had constant problems with our room keys. The first time was our fault because the key was in a bag next to a phone which is not good for keys. It would have been a good idea to mention this when we were given our keys. They were very nice about getting us new keys. Another time, it was because the battery went on the door lock. Again, they were very nice about fixing this, but this possibility did not occur to them until after trying new keys twice more. The key thing went on with both of our rooms throughout the trip. The night before going on an early excursion the family concierge staff kindly offered to pack a back with towels, waters & snacks and have it sent to our room. Apparently they sent it to the wrong room. We called, they got one to us quickly and, again were very nice. We did not have high expectations for food and in some cases were pleasantly surprised - other experiences were just awful. Generally, we found the buffet to be pretty good. The grilled meat a the the open air grill restaurant was fantastic. We had very good food at Mole and the taco place. The Mediterranean tapas (this was not tapas) and the Asian restaurants were truly awful. But, in every one of these places the staff could not have been more lovely. We did enjoy the Family Concierge service and the Bali beds by the pool were a nice perk. Our rooms were fine and they were clean - housekeeping was good - but a bit tired. I think there have been some renovations, but not our rooms. We booked two ocean view rooms (same price for each) but they were on the first floor and only one room actually had an ocean view (unless you stood on a chair). We booked through a travel agency and, while not cheap, we felt as if it was very reasonable. The place is generally nice and the staff couldn't be nicer but next trip to Cancun, I'll look for another property.

Room Tip: ocean view is lovely, but make sure you request to NOT be on the first floor if you really want a vi...

Simply put, great experience!!!! Beautiful, immaculately clean, wonderful friendly service and great food.
Yeah the pool was cold and our initial room wasn't great but our room was changed to an upgraded one in the center pyramid and dont really care about a pool when I'm in Mexico next to a fantastic beach.
The restaurants were all good. Blue agave and Mole are standouts...the local cuisine is outstanding and the service is as good as any of the high end restaurants i've ever been. On our last night Juan carlos served us and put a exclamation mark on our already great week. In any resort I don't put much faith in the buffet, but this one at the Market grill was excellent! Francisco, the manager at the buffet was the highlight, always with an authentic smile and friendly greeting.
We had a great time in an amazing setting being taken care of by a great staff...we'll be back!

This review is for the Paradisus Resort in Cancun Mexico. We booked
this trip thru Orbitz and traveled during the first week of April 2013.
We have stayed at several different all-inclusives mostly in the
Playa Del Carmen - Maya Riviera area, and consider these resorts to be a
great value for experiencing a relaxing and fun vacation.

I am giving Paradisus 5 stars or Excellent review, and here are my reasons.

Accommodations. The ocean front room we stayed in was very clean with a
great view of the pool and the ocean. I would not consider it super luxurious but the
beds were comfortable and things were well maintained. In the bath I liked
the rainshower fixture and the overall layout. One thing I didn't like
was stepping down from bath/shower to the floor, to me it seemed to be
a big step, but maybe its something other people are more used to.

Hotel grounds. The outdoor areas well managed with the swimming pool placement
and close proximity to the beach. My spouse had read some reviews of the water temperature
in the pools being too cold, and was concerned that our preschooler would
find the same thing. In our opinion the water temp felt good and the water
was very clear and the pool area was well tended.

The main lobby and hotel atrium has a series of connected pools that is
quite beautiful and the koi are a great attraction. The fitness room has
some really nice equipment and is situated in a space that is mostly dedicated
to a health spa.

Food. We enjoyed the freshness, variety, and taste of the main buffet.
Unfortunately our planned week long vacation was shortened so we did not have the
chance to check out all the reservation-required restaurants. We did go to
the Japanese theme restaurant though and it served some fine sushi.

People. All the staff and crew that we met at Paradisus were friendly
and provided great service in a quiet and unobtrusive manner. The quality of the Hotel
managers and staff members at Paradisus definitely makes me want to return
again soon. We especially want to thank Mr. Fred Boutouba, the Operations Manager, and Guadalupe at the front desk, who very patiently helped us in contacting Orbitz at 3AM. We had to shorten our vacation due to my daughter who has a medical condition was not responding well to her usual treatment.

Mr. Boutouba was very fair and gracious and was immensely helpful in coordinating with Orbitz
and helping to quickly make the changes. I definitely recommend Paradisus Cancun as
a vacation destination and would go again.

I have to visited some lovely resorts in Eastern Mexico ( Barcelo Maya Palace, Azul Beach,Riu Maya Palace, El Dorado Royale Casitas) and have to say that Paradisus Cancun is fantastic. We stayed in Royal Service, Oceanview. Three gals sharing a room and had an extra cot and had lots of room . The service in this section is beyond expectation. Sergio at the pool was fantastic. we loved having a Bali bed each day. I left my glasses on my chair and they called right away and delivered them to the room.. Any food, any drink, sunscreen, towels were all available from 7am on. Pool is great and water is warm. Resort is very clean and updated. Buffet was fine but A la Cartes were lovely. You can eat at Tempo for free and just pay for drinks if you stay there seven days.I loved Vento for the great Tapas. Order lots since all portions are small. These people work so hard to make your vacation great so please give them a tip.Would recommend this resort to any of my friends.

Room Tip: Royal Service is well worth the extra charge. Oceanview is nice but we were hardly in the room.. The...

Our room service was excellent. We had a chambermaid named Elizabeth Jiminez Marquez who was fantastic. She always gave our room the extra touch and you could tell she spent time on making the bathroom area and bedroom clean, orderly, and as nice as she could make it appear...right down to the flower decorations made out of the toilet paper. She was kind, friendly, and conscientious. This was my fourth visit to this hotel and I love it there.
