Upon arrival we told we booked Royalty Service, no idea what that meant but I guess we were assigned a butler. He helped us to the room and we didn't hear from him again that day. Seeing him the next day upon walking through the resort, he did get us a dinner reservation which was nice. I witnessed a lot of butlers checking in on their guests around the resort and on the beach, not ours. We never heard from or saw him again after day 2 of a 5 day encounter. Even upon check out, other butlers were gathering people bags and bringing them to check out, not ours. I guess maybe you need to ask for what you want.

Resort overall was amazing, our view was just breathtaking from the balcony. The room was just the right size although beds seemed a little stiff but overall not bad. The bathroom was clean and a good size. Beach was just great as our weather albiet windy was beautiful. The food was a little different for us Boston folks however, it was okay.

The restaurant Vento would have to be my favorite, although others complained about the food not being hot, I found it warm enough. Our waiter, Jonathan was absolutely Amazing!!! I was very impressed with the service I received, so impressed we ate there a second night!

The Avenue Bar has a great bartender, "Alexander the Great", he keeps the atmosphere lively and fun.

We meet amazing people from the UK, South Carolina, Florida, Minnesota and California. It was so much fun and very entertaining.

All in all, I would go back tomorrow!

The views of the ocean from the pool area and the restaurants are spectacular. The service staff in the restaurants were very good, especially Omar, our waiter at Vento. We all loved the pork carnitas at Blue Agave. The central atrium is beautiful. Our room was always spotless. The 9 hole golf course in front of the hotel is fun if a little quirky. The hotel enjoys a central location on the strip. The beach has been replenished since the last time we visited 4 years ago.

The resort was spectacular, the room was a little small, but we never spent much time in there, just to shower and sleep. I would recommend getting an ocean view room, the view and the sounds of the waves were just out of this world. Food at all restaurants were okay, however, the service was spectacular. Our favorite restaurant was Agave - no reservations needed, very laid back and the service we got from Juan Carlos was better than any 5 plus restaurant anywhere. He was eager, fast, friendly courteous and would do whatever to please us. He got us the recipe for a spiced oil, which my husband loved and the recipe for the soup I found to be delicious.
We travelled with our two kids, 5 and 7 and they loved it, they were sad to come home and insisted on saying goodbye to the ladies at the Kids Zone - wow, worth every minute. The kids asked to go every day and always came back with crafts and things they worked on. The evenings they also had the Kids Zone open for kids with a variety of activities (movie night, camping night, talent shows, drumming, etc) This allowed my husband and I to go to dinner and enjoy a quite dinner without the kids. The ladies (Evelyn, Isa and Mary - so many I couldn't remember them all, so caring and sweet).
The kids always wanted to eat at Naos, the buffet, mostly because of the variety and they marched straight over to the kids area (different choices - nuggest, fries, pastas, breaded fish plain rice etc.) Plus the waiter Baltazar knew our kids drink orders (fanta, milk, my coffee and my husbands water). How do they remember everyone. They even remembered the kids names.
Martin and Andres our Naos waiters at breakfast were always happy, helpful and had given us personal service in a buffet.
The pool area was beautiful, beach spectacular waters were rough, but still beautiful. The beach and pool area had waiter service as well, they brought you drinks and food to your sun beds, our waitress Yolanda was fast, and so pleasant, she knew our order by heart and always brough the kids water bottles.
Nothing but good things to say .... highly recommend this resort to families.

For a resort on a beautiful beach and in an area where you can leave the resort to shop/explore, this is the place. However, if you are a vacation club member used to all of the pampering you get as part of the "perks" at other resorts, this is NOT the place for you! We were left to find the club member check in on our own after confusing directions and hand gestures to "help" us find our way through three buildings, then we were greeted with an attitude. The girl at check in was very condescending to the platinum Melia Club member we were traveling with. We have never encountered a rude person on ANY Melia Club properties until this trip.
The food was unremarkable, usually cold and one note in flavor. Drinks were so slow that we began ordering doubles. Bana, the Asian fusion restaurant, had the best, most flavorful, fresh food. The sushi was excellent and the hot dishes came to the table hot. We were so impressed that we ate there two nights in a row. However, in the Brazilian restaurant, The Market, I watched the waiter go to the buffet next door and "assemble" our appetizers and desserts-disappointing! I was told that another woman and I were laughing too loud in the Blue Agave bar, so everyone at the bar (17 of us) got up and left. The bartender was left without any customers thanks to the manager.
Our room was always clean, but I had to repeatedly ask to get the fridge restocked with water, then received a phone call telling me I only get one restock per day-that's all I wanted since it was never done to begin with!
Overall, this was an acceptable place to stay, but if you are a club member, the level of quality and service is not at the level that other Melia Club resorts offer. Playa Del Carmen was $6 more per night and 10x better in service, quality and dining.

Room Tip: If you want a jacuzzi, ask for a suite.

We have been staying at the Melia, now the Paradisus, since 1990, and became members of the vacation club in 1998. It was one of the better investments we ever made. Many wonderful moments of watching our children having a great and enjoyable vacation.
The change to the Paradisus is for the better as the Melia was beginning to show her age. Rooms have been remodled with new furniture, decorating, air conditioning, and clean, clean, clean. The entrance to the hote is a scene from a Hollywood production. People are courteous and hard-working.
We were not on the all-inclusive plan, but we did dine at a number of restaurants, and the food was very good. Since we dine out somewhat, here are a few recomendations: breakfast--La Pasteleria (Mexican and crepes), dinner--DuMexique (French) and La Palapa Belga, and an inexpensive Italian restaurant is Rino's a few doors down from DuMexique on Bonampak Ave
Talked to a number of people who were on the all-inclusive plan and did not hear one complaint. One family from Ohio since becoming vacation plan members said the change to the Paradius was outstanding.
Keep up the great work, and we will see you next year.

We were amazed at this resort. We had a corner 1 bedroom apartment so consequently had 2 large balconies with views of the ocean and above the pool area. Twice we got up early to have a coffee on the balcony to watch the sunset and then return there in the evening to have a cocktail watching the sunset. Spectacular!!

We booked through RCI and were awarded Club Melia membership which rather blew us away. We had a private beach with sun loungers which you did not need to book. There is always someone to get you drinks as well so you can feel real pampered.

We found the staff very courteous and friendly throughout the Hotel, especially Carola Jiménez-Castro Espejo, our representative at Club Melia, who was so helpful to us during our stay and solved every problem or enquiry we had.

There was a bus stop at the end of the drive and buses passed every minute so we never had to wait. The cost is $8.50 per person per trip so dirt cheap. No need to take a taxi or rent a car. We never ate at the Hotel because of the choice of restaurants in Cancun.

We have travelled the world and are returning next year to Cancun and to the Paradissus because we were so impressed.

We booked 11 nights in Royal Service for our Honeymoon and weren't disappointed. On arrival we were taken to Royal Service check in. The room was great although a little worn but can't expect it to be immaculate, it was clean. We were offered a mobile so we could contact the butler when we wanted but we chose not to. The Royal Service staff were amazing, they were more than happy to help no matter how small the request, and we had a few.
The restaurants we ate in were delicious, our favourite being Market Grill which served 6 meats cut straight from the skewer. La Palapa, the Royal Service pool bar/eatery was great as we didn't need to go to the main buffet and could relax next to the pool. The menu could have had a few extra things on it but after a while they offered us other choices not on the menu as we kept to what we liked after trying a few, which made lunch times better.
They have a few bars but non of them really our scene, Avenue was too loud for us, Toji had 8 seats at the bar and 2 2 seater tables which we liked when you could get a seat, We never drank in Red Lounge as it opened at 2100. The majority of the time we drank in the Royal Service lounge where they had a selection of drinks you could help yourself to but they had servers available until 2300.
We would stay at this hotel again.
