I enjoyed the interior design also the fact that it is centrally located and close the ADO bus depot, it is a good choice for those not interested in the fake hotel zone, everything is nearby. The basic breakfast was good.

Room Tip: I would phone to reserve rather than email, I had some trouble to get an email answer

We stayed at Hotel Xbalamque for one night in May 2013. Good hotel in a great location near the bus station. Comfortable, and clean with a good shower and wifi connection. Air-con is good if a bit noisy and you can't adjust the temperature. Basic continental breakfast included.

Hotel Xbalamque Resort & Spa located in downtown Cancun on Yaxchilan Avenue allows visitors to experience a more realistic version of Mexico than those who spend all of their time in the Hotel Zone. The variety of dining options run from elegant [La Dolce Vita] to mid-range [El Pescadore] to 'Curb-Side/Push-Cart' Vendors. Three city park areas where the locals spend time celebrating alomost every evening provide excellent people-watching opportunities. Religious services are readily available for most denominations. All within easy walking distance. The Xbalamque Hotel attempts to bring a 'Mayan' feeling to its guests. Certainly, it is not a five-star operation, but it does provide 'good' value for ordinary folks on a budget. The staff is friendly and tries to be helpful. The Standard Rooms are comfortable with two double beds, ensuite bath, and enough storage space. The upgrade 'Suites' offer a king-size bed and considerably more room. [Make sure to ask for the Akumal Suite, which is the 'pick-of-the-litter' in terms of spaciousness.] The'Suites' cost about twice as much as the Standard Rooms, so the budget traveler should probably just settle for a Standard Room. The rate usually includes a modest continental breakfast of coffee, toast, butter, jelly and either a small plate of fruit or a glass of fruit juice served in the small restaurant from 7AM until 11AM. Additional items can be purchased to expand the breakfast. The restaurant is open well into the evening with the usual Mexican dishes. While the Xbalamque cannot compete with the 'top-of-the-line' hotels, it is by far the 'best' value for the budget traveler. No one should consider staying at the Xbalamque unless they understand the difference between a 'luxury' hotel and a 'budget' hotel. The price certainly gives an easy-to-interpret quantitative measure of the qualitative difference between the two. In our mind, the Xbalamque is a neat place to stay in town in Cancun, especially if you make your reservations a few months in advance and get a 30% to 40% discount from the already inexpensive base rates.

Room Tip: If you must have an upgrade 'Suite', be sure to ask for the Akumal Suite. Also, be advised t...

We stayed for a week in this hotel and I was immediately unsatisfied. Luckily i didn't pay too much for this hotel seeing as though i booked it the day before i flew out to Mexico, as a last minute deal.

Also please be aware if you book bed and breakfast with this hotel, be sure to check how many breakfasts are included as we only got 2 breakfasts every morning for 4 of us. It was very noisy at night as there was some sort of jazz band playing till the early morning. There was no fridge in our room, the shower was very old and i sometimes got a static shock from the taps when trying to turn it off or on.

The location of the hotel was very poor as it isn't situated near any beaches or any major shops, other than souvenir shops which meant we spent alot of pesos on taxis everyday. Also, there was no other solution to traveling to the beach as the 'pool' area wasn't very nice and didn't get any sun during midday.

Other than this id have to say the staff did try to help us out but didn't know very much english, so id recommend learning a few spanish words to speed up the process, Also the beach, 'la playa tortugas' was the main beach we travelled to, it was very nice and offered trips to near by islands, snorkeling and swimming with dolphins. Id recommend the all inclusive boat ride to Isla Mujeres, which was the highlight of our holiday as it had loads to do on the island like, shopping, sightseeing, trips to turtle sanctuary's and an all inclusive buffet which was beautiful.

We stated in the hotel for 1 night only and although it was tolerable, I definitely won't be back. Rooms, although cleanish, in terrible need of updating. There was a thumb width gap in wall around the aircon. The aircon itself seen better days - rattled throughout all night! No remotes(or we weren't given them) for TV and aircon. The breakfast was a total joke: 3 pieces of toast for 2 and a little butter.
My advise pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

We always stay here while in Cancun, but generally not for more than a day or two. We booked through Tingo and our room was $43 USD. Very reasonable rate, which included continental breakfast. The hotel again accommodated our request to be on the 2nd or 3rd floor overlooking pool/garden area. Much quieter than facing street and beautiful breeze so you can open window and go without AC. Our chamber maid, lovely Mayan lady, brought us blankets on request and gave us both a big hug the morning we checked out. We have come to know some of the staff over the years and they always remember us and treat us well. Their new elevator is up and running again!

Not much activity around pool area this visit. I don't think their restaurant onsite attracts a lot of people because there are so many great restaurants within a short walking distance. Their beer prices were too high, so visit the Oxxo nearby and purchase your beer and ice.
