“An amazing week”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

My husband and I just got home from a wonderful week a this wonderful all inclusive resort. All of the staff was found to be exceptionally polite and friendly. Their attention to detail and dietary needs is tremendous. As they tell you at check in "just ask for whatever you may need" and they will do everything in their power to assist you. From Sergio at the "Market Cafe" to Martin at the "Blue Water Grill" (which I hate to name names as I am missing many others), so kind and attentive and professional. Martha at the morning buffet was always smiling and attentive. The Entertainment staff always happy and upbeat wanting to do their best to make your stay fun. Victor made water aerobic so much fun!
The restaurants in the evening create an experience of eating, so be prepared to take your time and enjoy. Your appetizer, salad/soup, main entree and dessert - just so delicious and even for me, who is very picky and not very adventuresome, I found delicious items to enjoy.
Breakfast is amazing. You cannot want for anything. Fresh fruits, cheeses, mexican inspired dishes, oatmeal, made to order eggs/omelets, bacon, smoothies, vegies, pastries a multitude of juices, champagne etc. Afterward we made our way to poolside and were treated to any drink we wished for. (Please tip these hardworking staff who are so very attentive to your needs). There is an outside luncheon all afternoon. Wonderful local salespeople wonder the beach selling their wares which are perfect for souvenirs. Many adventures to partake in either scheduled by the hotel or by those working on the beach.
THE BEACH. Beautiful white sandy beaches and gorgeous turquoise water. We parasailed right off the beach of our hotel.
Our ocean view room was perfect. HUGE shower, private WC, 2 sinks, large king bed and patio. Experience room service as even with our evening icecream, it is done so lovely. Morning b'fast on the patio should be done at least once as well !
Housekeeping came by twice per day to refresh towels, make beds and prepare for bedding for evening use and to straighten up. They did an amazing job as well.
We saw many groups dining together and they accommodated everyone I saw. I never saw anyone unhappy or having a stern word, that is how they want to please.
There are plenty of shady areas to be found for people not seeking the constant sunshine. Even outside the cleaning is constant. Service was nothing I have ever experienced before in my many, many travels. I could go on and on. Suffice to summarize. We had a time we will never forget. Thank you to the entire staff at Secrets - The Vine and our Apple Rep staffed there that was always available if we needed him.

Room Tip: we asked for a King with ocean view and it was perfect. It was very quiet.

My husband and I were one of the first few guests to visit this resort once they opened their doors. The service is top notch and the resort was very clean. Convenient and secure. This is a beach front resort with beautiful crystal blue waters. There are also 4 pools and a lot of activities! However, if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, you will have to leave the resort. The food was good, but more Americanized. Looking for a get away with your honey - this is the place to be, as this resort is adults only!

Visited with a group (17) in October 2013. The hotel has awesome views! We did the preferred room so we had access to the upper pool and bar which was fabulous. Spent a lot of time at pools since the ocean was rough this time of year.

Food was fabulous at all of the restaurants we visited.

We were disappointed that our group was split up among the floors, all were booked together and arrived together so having rooms together would have been best.

They were not as accommodating as I would have liked about having dinner together, we pushed and were allowed tables together but the resort is very focused on groups of "2" only.

Room Tip: upper floors... the view is awesome!

Dear luckytraveler2014,

Thank you for choosing Secrets The Vine as your host and taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are glad to know that you have found the view that characterizes our Preferred Club pool as fabulous. We are also delighted to read that you have enjoyed the facilities and special amenities delivered to Preferred Club guests.

It is very important that we mention that the location of the suites is subject to the resort's availability, as everyday guests check in and out from different rooms, for this reason unfortunately we cannot guarantee that a whole floor will be empty for the exact dates of a group stay.

We also have availability for guests to dine in groups included in their stay, there are tables in the restaurants that are fit for many guests however sometimes it might not be possible to fit everyone at the same table due to the architecture of the restaurant to visit.

We hope that regardless of this you were able to enjoy of the great service and amenities provided to our every guest and look forward to welcome you.

Sincerely,

Stayed at this beautiful hotel from January 19-25 and I have to say, this hotel is quite something. We have only stayed at 5 star hotels, but this one would definitely be in my top 3. The staff go out of there way, the food and drinks excellent and rooms very comfortable. We choose not to upgrade, from reading the comments there did not seem to be a reason to, and it's true the rooms are very nice.

My only complaint, and really it’s not a complaint, is the attire for the men for the breakfast buffet. Most people go to breakfast then to the beach or pool, my husband was told to change into a proper t-shirt, as he was showing his upper arms. Note, he did not have a muscle shirt but a sleeveless tee. So for you guys make sure you bring proper t-shirts.

My favorite restaurant would be the Steak house, having a father-in-law who raises his own beef, the steak was very good and the Cream of Olive Soup, to die for. The one thing that I wished they did have was a supper buffet, I'm not knocking the A-la-Carte restaurants, trust me I like them, but some nights, it would have been nice just to go to a buffet.

Beware of the romantic dinners, there is a catch. My husband tried to arrange a romantic dinner on the beach, as I was celebrating my 50th birthday while we were there. The catch is, you have to buy a bottle of champagne, and it’s not cheap! My husband and I do not drink champagne, but my husband occasionally will have a glass of wine, I do not drink wine at all. He asked if he could buy a bottle of wine instead, but they would not show him the wine menu, simply pushing the champagne as it was a "Celebration!” So for those of you who do not drink wine or champagne it would seem that we cannot enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach. As a beach lover who spends her whole time on the beach, it would have only been great to have ended the day with a nice dinner on the beach, but that was not the case.

For you beach lovers, its AMAZING!!

Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Dear kathy849,

Thank you for taking the time to write and share your recent experience at our resort.

We are very happy to learn that your stay was a most pleasant one, and that you were highly satisfied with our service.

In regards of dinners it is very important that we mention that there is only one romantic dinner on the beach which is held by the beach and there are three different menus with established prices.
Special dinners or special set ups are done whenever you would like to purchase a bottle and dine at a restaurant for an special occasion, this is not related to the romantic dinner neither offers the same menu.

We would like to review your case in regards of dinners if you could email us at your convenience at info.sevcu@secretsresorts.com

We do hope that our reply to your feedback restores some semblance of trust on us.We would love to have the opportunity to host you again in the near future to offer you a remarkable stay.

Secrets The Vine was our first encounter with All Inclusive, and we were not sure whether this type of holiday would suit us as we have always gone self catering in the past. However, we are now complete converts, and cannot praise this resort highly enough. We booked our holiday through Virgin Holidays and were immediately impressed with the efficiency and ease with which our booking was handled. We were given all the information we needed to locate the Virgin rep in the arrivals hall at Cancun airport, who, in turn, directed us to the courtesy bus waiting to deliver us to our hotel, and within half an hour we were being greeted by the hotel staff in reception with glasses of champagne (a nice touch). The Virgin rep was on hand every day should we need his help with anything.

As we had booked a “preferred” suite, we were immediately taken to the 21st floor and introduced to the “preferred” concierge who checked us in with minimum fuss. Here we were introduced to our butler who took us to our room and explained how things worked and what services we were entitled to as “preferred” guests. Our luggage soon followed and we were then left to explore our suite, knowing that we could call on our butler at any time should we need anything. To be honest, we hardly ever called on him as our every need was taken care of by the hotel staff in general, who were friendly, polite and efficient throughout our stay, whether it was the lad cleaning the inside of the elevator, the girls on reception in the Market Café, or the poolside waiters – they all gave the impression that their only function was to serve us in the best possible way.

Our room was just as we had imagined from the information on the hotel’s website. It was light, airy, spotlessly clean and had lovely big sliding doors leading out onto our private balcony. (See Room Tips for more info on the room). We had a secure safe, coffee making facilities, and a mini bar containing soft drinks, beers, water, some miniature spirits (though not gin for some reason), that was topped up daily.

There were seven restaurants to choose from, all of which were outstanding in terms of the quality of food and the service. House wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot are included in the All Inclusive cost and are perfectly drinkable, although other wines are available to purchase if you feel like pushing the boat out. There is no booking system for any of the restaurants, which means that you are not tied to arrive at any particular time. We only had to wait to be seated once in the whole two weeks, and then only for about 5 minutes. The breakfast buffet is amazing, and can get a bit busy at peak times, but if you do have to wait a few minutes to be seated, it is well worth it.

There are a number of pools and plenty of loungers (plus a constant supply of beach towels throughout the day). In addition, “preferred” guests have a separate pool and sun bathing area located on the 12th floor. This area has its own poolside bar and waiters. There are lots of umbrellas for those who like some shade, and always someone on hand to assist in putting them up! Steps lead from the hotel straight onto the beach where more sun loungers and umbrellas can be found for those who prefer to be nearer to the sea. The beach itself is wonderfully clean and sandy and stretches for several miles in each direction – ideal for early morning walks!

The gym on the 12th floor is very impressive being full of state of the art equipment, and a few visits to this facility is a must for anyone (like us) who takes full advantage of the All Inclusive food and drink!

Last but not least, the entertainment throughout each day and each evening was varied and enjoyable. It was never intrusive, and because of the size of the hotel, there is always somewhere you can go for peace and quiet if you prefer not to be entertained!

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms face the Hard Rock hotel and get the sun on the balcony for most of the day and h...

Beautiful place. everything easy walking distance. We did upgrade to the preferred status, but I honestly wouldn't waist your money. the Preferred lounge was nothing more than a small area right off the elevator with a few small tables. The few times we went to the bar to get a "premium drink" the bartender was no where around. The desserts and food in the Preferred lounge were nothing to write home about. We went up to the preferred pool once and went back down to the main pool. Very low key and boring at that pool. Also, we never utilized the private butler that came with the preferred status. they seemed to work during the dayshift only when everyone is by the pool or beach. Everything else was very nice. Crowd was on average 40-55 years of age. Definitely not a young rowdy hangout. Place was very quiet after 12mn.
Room was nice and bed was comfy. VIew was beautiful. Staff very nice. Spa was a rip off as far as pricing I am used to in the USA. They offer massages on the beach for far less.

We just returned from 5 nights in Cancun at Secrets the Vine. The property is incredible and reminded me of an upscale hotel in Miami Beach: stunning pools (3) on the main floor and one infinity pool on the 12th floor for preferred, all overlooking a beautiful and clean white sand beach. The ocean is a little rough, but crystal clear. The rooms are fantastic and equipt with flat screens, rain showers, his and hers sinks as well as great smelling bath products including sunscreen, toothpaste, body wash, and shaving cream. We were staying on the 27th floor on the Sandos side of the resort looking north onto stunning views of the Cancun peninsula. The staff were really amazing from water aerobics at the pool, to volleyball, to Spanish lessons, to bartending lessons, to karaoke night, everyone had a great energy and always aimed to please (there response to requests is almost always "its a pleasure"). The free wi-fi was a major plus as you could use your cell phone throughout the resort at no extra cost (this may be a preferred feature not 100% sure). Also, you can call free to Canada and the US from your rooms. The food was good especially impressive for Mexico. Loved the Asian restaurant for california rolls, teppanyaki and pad thai. The Italian restaurant had good pizza and pastas as well as good quality parmesan, olive oil and balsamic for the bread. The steak restaurant was also pretty good and they served salmon steaks which was a plus. At breakfast they offered a large selection including an omelet / eggs station, bacon, traditional Mexican fare, bagels w philly cream cheese, hash browns, fruit, iced lattes etc. As others have mentioned, the nighttime entertainment is so so, but most of the guests are there on romantic vacations and not that interested in a night time party scene. Also, the spa is great, I had a wonderful massage with Marcos and the gym is state of the art overlooking the ocean from the 12th floor. The resort is beautiful top to bottom and the staff is wonderful. I would recommend this to any couple looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway.

Room Tip: rooms facing south (Hardrock) get more sun (this is true in jan feb), rooms facing north (Sandos sid...
