Being at the tip of a peninsula a mile long located in the Nitchupte- Cancun lagoon, Coral Mar is a long walk to the bus but there is a taxi pickup spot on the site. They have tours organized to Chichen Itza. The staff are charming, the restaurant (a waterside palapa) is just changing hands. It was quite good value, except the coffee which was awful (64-cup percolator). The grounds are excellently maintained, the pool is unheated, the housekeeping is daily except Sunday and well done. Everyone was complaining about the poor WIFI reception and the management would do well to pay for an upgrade if they want people to return.

Room Tip: There are three floors and no elevators so choose what you need.

Rooms are spacious, view is exquisite. No dishwasher, but the maids do the dishes so "No
problem" Grounds are lovely and well maintained and rooms very clean. Quiet except for party boats on the lagoon on occasion. View from 3rd floor balcony was so nice, beautiful sunsets and sunrises; nice to watch locals walking their dogs at 6:00 am. Staff were soooooo helpful with everything. If you are into the party scene this lovely place is not for you.

Room Tip: Third floor Rooms have top notch view you will not get on ground floor. However you will get your e...

We stayed at Coral Mar through our RCI time share. Coral Mar is definitely a place to go and relax. It is across the lagoon from the hotel zone and it's extremely quiet. Not a place to go if you are looking to be in the "hub" of the action. Taxis are always available to take you to the action if desired. The units are extremely clean, the kitchen is well stocked and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We ended up eating at the bar/restaurant often. We thought the prices were reasonable and all the food is very fresh -- great guacamole and salsa! Our biggest complaint would be the window air conditioners are very loud.

Room Tip: Request a room in building 3 or 7 if you want to face the lagoon. The other buildings are staggered...

Nice, quieter complex in between the lagoons in Cancun. About 1.5 to 2 miles and a $10 cab ride to the heart of the hotel zone, nightlife and the beaches on the Caribbean Sea. Can walk to the main street if you really want to. Plenty of buses run frequently on the main street.Sandy area facing the lagoon with chaises, palapas and ocean breeze . Nice place to laise about and watch boats go by. Rooms kept very clean. Small kitchen was enough to fix meals in most days, but didn't have an oven which would have helped. Staff was great, very helpful. Easy to book tours onsite, make restaurant reservations, and arrange shuttle service to the airport. Small convenience store next door; another one a couple blocks away alongside a deli and a pizza place. There's a "strip mall" about 1.25 miles just as you get onto the main street that has a grocery store (no butcher meats) and a pharmacy, along with some quick taco stand type places. All in all, a very relaxing and decent spot.

Very nice property; very well maintained. We stayed here with a couple that has this as a time share. This is not a place for 20 something party, party , party! Its a nice relaxed atmosphere, pool lounging with a great view. There is a restaurant on site that is very good, a little pricey for Mexico, but still good. The bar by the pool had Happy Hour from 1200-1400, and again at 1700-1900, definitely do the 2-1 Pina Colada's (Raul does the best mix). Management goes out of their away to ensure the guests are happy, this is evident not only in the Maintenance, but all facilities. I would definitely recommend Coral Mar for a relaxing, family friendly option in Cancun.

The units and grounds are well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful on recommending restaurants and area information. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit from 3-3 to 3-10-2012. Unit was cleaned exceptionally well everyday. We were surprised to find that there was no safe in the units. The pool area was nice (but very cool) and there was no shortage of lounge chairs both in and out of the sun. There was also a sandy area with loungers that looked out over the lagoon. This is a nice resort if you don't want to leave the resort very often as it is 1 1/2 mile walk each way to the main road to get the bus. We would usually walk out to the bus and then take a taxi back as it was less expensive to return to the resort. The onsite restaurant has good food and the pizza restaurant up the road is very good and will deliver to the resort. There was wi-fi available for a small fee but we could only access it from outside. It is nice to have an option for a small resort that is not all inclusive. Not only do you save money but you also have the opportunity to visit some very good restaurants in the area.
We probably will not stay at this resort again though due to the location.

We stayed at the Coral Mar on a RCI timeshare exchange after two weeks at a more upscale resort further out in the Hotel Zone. Our unit was comfortable and clean, and we were pleased with the fully equipped kitchen. Staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. A well-stocked lending library (in alphabetical order) provided plenty of reading materials. The resort has done a nice job of creating a manmade sandy beach with a beautiful view of the lagoon in addition to providing a small pool, all equipped with reclining chairs. We were given a starter kit of a large bottle of purified water and a few other supplies. The resort's mini-market offered both packaged and fresh foods at reasonable prices. A helpful tour desk provided many types of tours. This small resort did not offer daily activities but assumed that we would be away during the day or lounging with our books. We also enjoyed a fairly reliable wireless Internet service that was available for $5 for the week. Several downsides to the resort detracted from the generally pleasant atmosphere. A large sign on our door warned us that the resort was not responsible for stolen items. Yet no room or office safe was provided. The resort is located at the end of Pok-Ta-Pok Ave., a mile and a half from the main street and bus stop. To go out to dinner meant a long walk to the bus stop or a cab ride which got expensive (although cabs were always available). We did not care for the onsite restaurant/bar. (The atmosphere was OK, but the food was greasy--not even good Mexican food!) The resort seemed to cater to retirees and families who want a quiet place after a day of adventure on a tour.

Room Tip: Most units seemed to have a view of the lagoon, but some had patios or decks which were pleasant. A...
