“Lovely Stay - Great staff”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Really enjoyed our stay at Sandos. Staff in bars and restaurants are very good and friendly. Everytime we had to ask the front desk for help it took forever to get a result. We moved from 2 double beds to a king-bed room (we had requested this, but as the hotel will full and we checked in late in the evening no rooms available), in our new room the fridge did not work. We ask reception to fix or change - it took 2 days before this was solved and only because my boyfriend escalated to the manager on duty. 2 days with no cold water in the room is a long time when you are in Mexico!! The pools were all in the shade of the big Secrets hotel next door just before 2pm, which is a pity, if you are there to tan and relax in the sun you need to get a sun bed on the beach.
The food was surprisingly good. Excellent breakfast and the fish and meat for lunch/dinner was lovely.
The SPA is AMAZING - however a bit pricey (went twice to get a facial and a massage)! Check out the daily updates for deals etc.

Room Tip: Higher floors close to beach have great views

My wife and I recently spent a week at sandos in cancun. We found the facilities to be excellent . The staff was friendly and did what ever they could to make us comfortable. The food was very good with a variety of healthy choices. The pools and beach where beautiful . The exercise room was very nice and included a spa for additional charges . There where hobiecat sailboats, paddle boats, and kayaks available at aquaworld at no additional cost.

Our only negatives were some pressure to attend a timeshare meeting and to use the spa for a fee. But the people did back off after we said no thank you . We also had some noisy neighbors for several nights and had no trouble switching rooms... 622 has and excellent view with a balcony. But has two double beds not a king . Try and get a room with a balcony on the north side at least 4th floor and up for views of ocean and lagoon .
We would return .

We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food. The accommodations were roomy and clean. The only down side was that by 1:30 in the afternoon the pools were all in the shade of the looming Secrets next door. Had to save chairs early in the day if you wanted to sit anywhere at all. People 'hogged' the chairs all day even if they weren't using them so we had to join the crowd if we wanted a lounge chair. All in all though a good stay and wish it had been longer.

Room Tip: Request a better view than we had. Our room over looked the airconditioner vents.

My husband and I spent a long valentine's weekend at Sandos Luxury Experience. I was very excited to return to this property as my two sons and I, along with a friend and her son spent spring break here last year and had an exceptional experience. Sadly, this stay did not reflect last year's.
First off, let me start out with the positives: The staff - Alfredo (who remembered me from last year), Isabel, Karla, Nava, and Enedina, along with the wait staff on the beach were all exceptional. Thank you!
On our last night, we finally got the room we requested (king size bed with balcony). The bed and view from the balcony were heavenly.Breakfast is served buffet style and is wonderful
Negatives: The quality of the food, drink, and dining experience dropped dramatically. Last year we had the option of a la carte dining in two dining areas with exquisite choices, including lobster. This year there was only one a la carte restaurant and it also had a dress code. The food was mediocre at best, although the presentation was impressive.
The lunch and dinner buffets were awful. It was very apparent that some of the dishes were made from leftovers, including grilled salmon that had been prepared at the afternoon outdoor buffet by the beach was served at the evening dinner buffet.
Last year there was high end liquor and a healthy wine list available. Not this year. Not sure when everything changed or why.

They only thing the Sandos has in common with luxury is the pricing! First thing I knew when I checked in,is that i was being charged extra for an additional person although i had made a reservation for 2 people! I was tired of arguing ,so I cough up the extra money! The location is great and the hotel is clean but that is it! Certain staff members are good but most of them are barely average! You will get asseled for timeshare meetings and stuff like that! The pool closes at 5 pm if you can believe it! The rooms are very ordinary and there are no balconies! Also I had made a reservation for a room with a king bed and we got a room with the "doubles" my girlfriend was very happy to say the least! Luxury experience? You will get a better luxury experience at holiday express..spend you money somewhere else!! Oh yes one more thing..the wifi sucks..can't do anything with it..they are not in 2014 yet :(

I stayed at this hotel a few years back when it was run by another chain. I returned not knowing this was the same hotel and my initial fond memories were immediately eroded by the shockingly disinterested staff and general decaying of the once wonderful hotel.

Some parts of this hotel are very good, the sea is wonderful, some of the food is pretty good (not the basic Japanese) and the spa and its staff are exceptional (letisha in particular)

However - the staff ruin the place and in general have an approach of complete indifference - our checkin was terrible, the bell boy superbly rude, the waitress and waiters uninterested and ill trained (for example we bought some wine (outside the all inclusive package) at the above mentioned Japanese restaurant which the waiter proceeded to give to other diners at our expense!)

To cap things off we are checking out tomorrow and are in discussions about some erroneous charges applied to our stay which the reception manager is insisting on even though they were not mentioned when we checked in - lets hope the hotel manager, with whom i am meeting tomorrow, will resolve.

There are lots of great hotels in cancun - if you want to drink unlimited beer from 8am come here, otherwise choose one of the other places!

We stayed here for 5 days in Feb, with another couple. Both of us really enjoyed the resort. The people working here are helpful, attentive, and fun. It is a quite relaxing atmosphere. There have some minor activities but are just enough for a couples get away. The spa was first rate. I had both a massage and a facial. The massage was very, very good. The facial was more of a moisturizing then a cleansing experience. The food was good, and while they had a Mexican night, seafood night, etc. There was a good variety on the buffet to meet all tastes. We also went to the Hibachi restaurant one night, it was very good and very entertaining. The only item to note, is the drinks are very weak. While i loved the taste, there was not a night that i ever felt the liquor.

Room Tip: Rooms are a bit of an odd shape but most have at least a partial view of the ocean.
