Great staff, at front desk, at the pool bar, and in the restaurant, especially Edwin and Juan. Massages were very relaxing. Nice walk around the golf course. Away from the beach, thank goodness. Modest rooms, very clean, nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. All inclusive package was reasonable and worth it for us, as we didn't want to go out and the food was fresh, healthy and delicious, if limited in choice. We salute the chefs! Tip: Only overhead lighting in room - bring light for reading. No fitness center.

As you were able to experience, Laguna Suites is perfectly placed between the golf course and the Nichupte lagoon, enabling holidaymakers to rest and relax in the splendor of the natural surroundings.

We thank you for your kind review and hope to see you back soon.

This is a review in two parts - the first is for the hotel itself and the second if for the timeshare company it is owned by.

HOTEL: located about 1/2 mile (estimated) from the main drag of Cancun's hotel zone. This is a small place with a nice pool and a very attentive staff. There are only a couple other small hotels in this area and you are not on the beach and not close to the beach. There is a golf course adjacent and a small spa on site. We had an end-unit upper floor suite and honestly did not spend much time in it. Pluses were the mini-fridge and a great shower and an in-room safe. Minuses were super hard mattresses and pillows (even for Mexico), no WIFI in rooms, and after the first day - no bottle or filtered water available w/o an extra charge. The restaurant on site is open for three meals and there is always someone available to make drinks. This is a place for people who don't mind not being at the beach, and just want to enjoy the sun and maybe some golf. It is quiet (unlike the Hotel Zone), clean, and friendly. However, if you are not a Sunset Timeshare owner - or don't have something else that exempts you from the Sunset sales talk - it's probably not the best choice due to the timeshare sales experience.

SUNSET WORLD RESORTS TIMESHARE COMPANY: we got our reservation on a timeshare exchange with another company. This "required" us to participate in what was repeatedly explained to be a 90 minute presentation. We agreed to do the breakfast option and were picked up from our hotel at 8:20 am and taken to the Sunset Harbor location. We were not allowed to sit for breakfast until nearly 9 am and then when breakfast was over - the timeshare presentation finally began and involved touring through two properties plus a yacht and then finally going to sales office. We never expressed interest in buying and repeatedly asked for confirmation that they would be done in 90 minutes total. Early on 90 minutes became "approximately 90 minutes" and then it became "90 to 120 minutes." The sales rep that we were assigned to was perfectly nice but clearly needed to do her job. And we couldn't leave until they signed off on our denial of offer. That occurred at 12:20 pm. And we still weren't back to our hotel yet. The final sales push was AWFUL. The sales manager was rude and aggressive and borderline scary. We got handed off to the quality control person who "wasn't selling" but still made a sales ask. And then we got handed off to a third person who signed us off. All in all - it took 4 full hours and was only that quick because we were so insistent that they promised us 90 minutes. Others staying at our resort said theirs were 5 and 6 hours long. BOTTOMLINE - IT IS NOT 90 MINUTES, not even 90 minutes post-breakfast and as to the sales pitch - it is heavy-handed and awful and just shy of threatening.

Needed a vac with the family very badly! suffered from hurricane sandy last year and getting blasted from this cold and snow this winter in NYC. It was just pure luck we ended up at Laguna Suites. we chose this place from the computer. Wife and kids love the spa and I wanted to golf. seemed perfect. Of course plane was delayed and there was a huge crowd leaving the airport. We never visited Mexico and didn't know what to expect. A few days before our trip someone from the hotel called to confirm our arrival and gave me real good advice on what NOT to do upon arrival. That was soo helpful!! especially traveling with kids. Took us to the hotel and the wife and I was handed a great drink as soon as we walked in. That was great! The food there is top notch and the presentation is as good as most fine restaurants in NYC. The service was even better. just wanted to leave a big GRACIAS!!! to Adalberto, juan bolio, Edwin, Manuel, Oscar ,Yuliana, Felix , Yeraldin, Aimando and Miguel. Yes I made sure I took all there names before we left just to leave this message. That's how well we were all treated. They remembered what we drank and what we liked and didn't like to eat. It was my wife's birthday at the end of our vac and Adalberto and Juan bolio without me asking got us a cake with candles and sang happy birthday. The music in the restaurant was so soothing and relaxing I asked if it was possible to get a copy and within 20 minutes I had my own CD that I have been listening in my car since we have been back. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you to three other hotels that you can enjoy the beech and other restaurants / night life. But if you wanna just relax and not be bothered you can just hang out at Laguna at the pool and bar and just take in the sun. I wish I was there right now its a 19 degrees today..

Bartenders Valario, and Armando were terrific, friendly and gave great service.Armandoeven delivered me drinks as I was getting on the Shuttle. The food was excellent and the service was very good.It is right next to the golf course but far from the beach,We could go to three other hotels for food, drinks or shows which was good but the time share presentation started off informative and friendly but ended ugly and pressured.I would not have taken the trip if they wouldn't have lied to me and said it wasn't a time share. However,I don't believe time shares are a good deal, and I have a realative who sells them and has told me the truths and monetary values of them but that is my opinion. Each to his own.The Laguna Suites are a great place for a relaxing and peacefull place to stay.I would go back there again. We met several nice people there from Canada and New York.Rooms were clean, staff were very friendly, tips do wonders anywhere in Mexico, but some places annoying.

Room Tip: We wanted a second floor room with a small balcony cause my girlfriend of 30 years smokes but we wer...

We were treated so wonderfully by everyone - great customer service, massages top of the line and excellent food. Everyone was very helpful. We had all inclusive so could visit 3 other resorts so had a great time. Great service - Alberto, bell boy - Chefs Omar, Carlos, Felix, Yuliana, Edwin all were wonderful! I can't remember the names of the 2 ladies who gave us hot stone massages but they were EXCELLENT! Also, upon arrival and visiting with the concierge(beautiful woman who was so helpful), the ice cold beers were much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this resort. If too quiet, shuttles are easy to get to other places in Cancun.
