Jerry clearly loves to share what he knows, and his passion comes through, especially when it comes to the carelessness with which many in his own country treat cultural and historical sites. We learned a lot, and he made the longish drive pass quickly. Best part is leaving early enough that we got to the site before it got crowded, and left just as the hordes were arriving in tour buses.

Do you want a guide who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and who speaks English well? Then you really must "Go with Jerry". Not only is he an encyclopedia of knowledge about Mayan history, culture and civilization, but he also is very familiar with the flora and fauna of the Yucatan peninsula. We spent two weeks with him in Yucatan and Quintana Roo and did everything from climbing Mayan temples to swimming in a cenote to watching the flamingos at Celestun. He also knows all the best places to eat, so we were well-fed and were able to try many local specialities. Everything went smoothly on this trip (we thank his assistant Jorge for this as well!) and the attention to detail was amazing- he even brought along Mayan music to play in the van. You can also ask him about any aspect of contemporary Mexican culture and get a thoughtful response. This guy can do it all!

Twelve traveling buddies just got back from a fantastic two week tour through the Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo with Jerry. We custom designed the itinerary and left it to Jerry's expertise to fill in the blanks. His knowledge of and love for this area are both remarkable. We visited numerous Maya sites with him as well as some spectacular natural areas and beautiful colonial cities. He knows exactly where to go and what to do and prepares you ahead of time with talks on the van then fills in as you wander the area. Jerry is the consummate professional. He is prompt, courteous, and really does treat you as his "family". Most of us are experienced travelers in Mexico and have other guides in other areas we have come to consider family and friends, and Jerry is now part of that group. I would highly recommend him for anyone who is truly interested in this part of the world. We also adored our driver Jose Gabriel.

Get 4 or 6 people together and hire a inn van for the day rather than go on an organised trip. It will be far more comfortable than sitting in a coach for hours, picking up and dropping people off. You can choose your own comfort breaks and you will avoid the hard sell of the local guides.
