I could easy say it is by far my favorite restaurant in Cancun
This seafood restaurant has a thatch palapa with a huge sail boat as bar in the middle. You always have a warm welcome when coming in.
They have tons of options from whole fish to the stuffed catch of the day, and from cocktails to ceviche and some other fish and shrimp specialties and also some great soups. Don`t miss the shrimp tacos, really amazing, to start of your meal.
If you like beer, try the way Mexicans drink it, with sauces, ask for an Ojo Rojo, just waht you need for Cancun's hot weather.
The service is impecable, there is always someone taking care of you, without being so pushy. They do receive Credit cards here, so just come hungry!
You can also find this restaurant in Playa del Carmen, but I have not visit them there.

Hot off the presses! I just went there on Saturday,August 20th with 4 local Mexican friends. This was my 4th visit there. The restaurant is open daily from 11-AM to 7:00-PM, so it is not a place for late evening dining. Please note:most local people have their main meal in the afternoon between 1 to 5-PM especially on weekends. It is a large high ceiling thatched roof made of wood and palms called a palapa. It is very Mayan in design. It is mainly a sea food restaurant. The menu is in spanish but the staff is very friendly. You paper place mat has information on dishes and prices. Several times during the week there is a young man right by the entrance playing the harp. He was excellent! The 2 previous times I went there I had Paella de Maricos that cost $150-Pesos and was excellent. You can order it for 1 or 2 persons. Another time I had Camaron al Coco(coconut shrimp) that was $155-Pesos. They have a bar in the middle of the restaurant that you can sit at for drinks or your meal. The bar is shaped like a fishing boat. Parking on this side of Yaxchilian Avenue is near impossible so we always use the valet parking which was $30-Pesos and well worth it. If you are a member of Costco(they honor U.S.A. & Canadian membership) you could park for free across the street but you would have to purchase something at Costco to make it free parking. From the hotel zone you could take the R-2 Bus that goes on Avenue Kabah. You would have to ask the driver if he stopped by Costco and the Mega Comerical Mexicana Super Market. Once downtown/centro Cancun you could take a taxi that would cost about $30-Pesos. The bus fare from the hotel zone is still $8.5-Pesos each way. Now more new and air conditioned buses. As listed in my other reviews I work in tourism and am lucky to be listed here on Trip Advisor as:Charlie Drew Cancun Tours And Activities. My website is at:www.charliedrewcancun.com. END OF SELF PROMOTION! I do not own nor get commissions from any restaurant or place I recommend on Trip Advisor. I try to do this as a service. I am always looking for places that are good values.
