“Moon Palace Grand Room Photos”
Reviewed February 12, 2009

This review is to show room photos at Moon Palace Grand side. The rooms on the Grand side do not have the best view but they make up for it in size and comfort. The rooms are much larger than any room we've stayed at any of the other resorts. We really loved returning to a nice spacious, comfortable, clean room after a long day. The balcony is extremely large compared to the others, more on the order with the Presidential Suite balcony. Our favorite resort was the Adventura Spa, but we now have a new favorite, The Moon Grand. The lobby had not open yet in October 2008. This was not a problem, we just took the cart or bus over to other lobby or maybe walked.
The food was fantastic especially the Brazilian and Italian restaurants. Gained a few pounds on this trip. Staff was great as usual and cleanliness was top notch.
But like I said before this review is mainly to show photos of the room on the Grand side.
The only change I would make is to stay longer than a week.

Stayed at the Moon Palace from 26 Jan until 9 Feb and had a fantastic time, could not fault a thing. The whole stay was fantastic from start to finish and you leave feeling totally pampered. Went for my brothers wedding (38 of us in total), it was a really beautiful and special day for everyone. Food was great with lots of choice, definitely recommend trying all the restaurants. The waiters can't do enough for you and even carry your plates to the table. The rooms are lovely with double whirlpool baths and optics and are kept spotless by the cleaners. The only downside is the evening entertainment which is very limited and finishes early. If you enjoy just sitting around and drinking (as we do) then you'll be ok. If you want to party however there are staff from Senor Frogs and Coco Bongos in reception every evening waiting to take you into Cancun.

We traded to the Moon Palace through RCI. What a fabulous place. The service couldn't be better, the rooms were beautiful, the food was good and there was a lot to do at the resort. Larger beds would have been preferred as 4 of us slept in one room with two double beds but aside from that the rooms were much better than I expected. The spa is wonderful and offers a hydrotherapy room to use before and after any service. We were offered two rounds of golf, two club rentals and $200 to use at the spa if we listened to their sales presentation so we took them up on the offer. The presentation ran too long at 2 1/2 hours but if we didn't already own a time share we probably would have bought as the resort is fabulous. I would avoid steak for dinner but the appetizers, soups and most other entrees were great. If you are a big shopper you may not like this resort as it is off the main strip and away from all the shopping but for anyone else I'd recommend it. Definitely take a tour to Chichen Itza. Tulum was also neat to see if you have time for both. Xel-Ha was a little disappointing - not a lot of fish to see but the SeaTrek was highly rated by my husband. I will definitely consider a Palace resort for another vacation.

My wife and I stayed at the Moon Palace from Jan 31 to Feb 7 2009. Where do I begin, the check in was quick, the bellmen were efficient, and we had no hassle from the membership people although they did call later. We stayed on the Nizuc side of the resort, but we were at Sunrise a fair bit and we also dined on the Grand side as well. The food was excellent at the a la carte restaurants, with our favorites being mo mo no hana, and the brazilian restaurants. We waited about 30 minutes for transport to take us to the italian restaurant at the golf club, and surprisingly, it was our least favorite place to dine. The rooms were immaculately kept, and turn down service was provided every night. I had the all inclusive golf package, and could not have been happier. I played 54 holes of golf and hit the range twice as well. The spa was excellent, my wife and i were booked in there for a number of treatments the day before we left. We took the boat tour to Isla Mujeres, which was fun, and went zip lining, which is really close to the resort. Maybe the only issue would be the distance to the ruins at tulum and chichen itza, but we decided to go there on a different trip in the future. By the way, this place is family friendly, and only ten minutes from the airport!! So if a golf vacation is something you are looking for, this is the place for you. The internal transport system via bus or golf cart isquite regular and you don't have to wait long. We will be returning to the moon palace in the future, probably bringing our kids with us the next time, so like i said in the opening, an incredible week and can't wait to return. Gracias Moon Palace!!!

we travelled to the Moon for our niece's wedding in Jan. The resort was super and the Mexican people are fantastic hosts. We have travelled to Dominican in the past several times and have always been lovers of the D.R. Mexico will be our new vacation spot. The food on this resort was great our favourite being the Japanese. Our room was an ocean view and was great with our little "petits fors" served to us nightly. The weather was not the best but it was better then -25 and snow!
We would highly recommend this resort. Be sure to stop by Los Tacos pool and visit with Miriam. She is more then willing to attend to your drinking and eating needs with pleasure. The gift shop has an excellent selection of everything you need and the prices are very affordable. We left the Moon Palace 2X and travelled into Playa del Carmen to visit 5th Avenue for some fantastic shopping and bartering. The 2nd time was to go to Adventure Park to Zip Line....absolutely amazing and well worth the visit. If you have upgraded your pkg check to see if this is included and go for it. It was alot of fun.
We had a private check-in and this was great service. The wedding package our niece purchased was incredible and just like a Cinderella fairy tale without the pumpkins. If you get an opportunity to visit this resort, you will be more then satisfied. We are already planning our 1 year reunion.

We were at moon Palace Mid January (Me, husband and kids boy 7 and girl 2) And we really miss it!! The people are wonderful (especially loved the waiters in the Nizuc buffet restaurant, Their Mayan coffees were amazing!! Meredith the first choice tour rep, always around always happy and helpful! and My daughter had a real thing about the sax player in the Nizuc buffet!!) but to be honest everyone who works at this hotel are lovely!

The rooms have been described alot in other reviews that are very accurate, all good, kids loved the jacuzzi and the endless minibar soft drinks!
Food was great, although didn't love the room service food but was still way above any room service menu I've ever seen especially during the night!
Pools were great (a little cold at first but fine once used to it!!) Got a bit sick of all the seagulls scrouging for food and actually stealing it if you turned your back!! We loved the beach, the sand is lovely and yes there's seaweed but they do a good job cleaning it away all day!
Went on one excursion to Isla Mujeres to swim with dolphins which was a great day!! Coming back on the catamarran with the tequila freely flowing was a great laugh for everyone!

So, yes now back in cold UK we really miss our Moon palace comforts and weather!!!

  • Liked — The friendly attitude of all the staff and the endless food!
  • Disliked — The red ants nipping your feet by the pool!!

This was our very first stay at this resort and already have plans to return next year. We stayed at the end of January, Thursday through Sunday on the Sunrise side. We were part of a U.S. business group of over 250 rooms - employees and their spouses, support staff & entertainers (almost 600 persons total). Our company rented out the ballrooms above the lobby and we had plenty of room to spare. We’ve been to about a dozen of the finest resorts in the Caribbean, and this one was the cleanest, friendliest, largest and most accommodating. If you are considering this resort, I suggest that you download a map of the grounds, take a look at the google aerial, and do some internet searching for yourself. There are a lot of negative comments about the palace, but you’ll always have those. Our experience was superb, and I heard of no-one with any complaints. Below are some notes.

Like previous posters said, the resort is large. The word “huge” is an understatement. “Herculean” would be a better description. We stayed in a building farthest away from the lobby on the Sunrise, but it was only about an 8-10 minute beautiful & peaceful walk through the lawns and breezeways. There are golf carts constantly driving around to pick you up if you wish though and the buildings are linked with covered corridors in case of inclement weather. There are a lot of activities to do. There is not really a list of these, nor is there a comprehensive activity itinerary. I recommend you find one of the bellboys to take you on a tour on a golf cart and ask him questions about every little building. But rely on your own sense of adventure and explore on your own. The resort lifestyle in the Caribbean is a fun, carefree, let-loose atmosphere. If you are the type of person who wants everything written down and on a schedule with your clothes laid out, then take your snobby self to some thousand-dollar-a-night castle somewhere where they call things “Lovely” and eat “pudding” made out of animal flesh.

The staff was always polite, courteous, friendly and helpful. They put U.S. hospitality to shame. Even tops Puerto Rico, and you know that’s saying something if you’ve been there. Keep in mind, the tone & tambour of the Mexican folk is very different from what most westerners are used to. When they get mildly defensive, they can be taken out of context. That is just us, not them. Just want to be clear on that because I know some of the posts you’ll read the idiots never set foot out of downtown Arkansas, let alone out of country.

Building & Grounds were immaculate. The structures were built to last, and I did not notice any wear or tear. Not that there isn’t any, just didn’t notice it. We hopped on the bikes (included) and rode around the Sunrise, Nizuc and Grand. It was great being able to stop & grab a snack or drink as we toured. I think we were gone for a couple hours and probably rode 3 or 4 miles around the resort. And remember how small the bike seats were when we were kids? They are the same size – but we are not. Ouch. Beach wasn’t as bad as the negative posts made it sound. In fact, if I never read a bad post, I would not have even noticed what little seagrass there was. My son and I walked a half mile one morning to the parasail and he wasn’t bothered by it one bit. Pools are a tourist destination in and among themselves. The pictures do not do them justice. Just something you’ll have to see for yourself. Rooms have been described a hundred times on the reviews. Very nice & roomy. And a warning – make sure you do NOT turn on the jets in the Jacuzzi until the water level is appropriate. Funniest damn thing I ever saw. Our kids tried to clean it all up before we got back from dinner. And I flew home in wet bluejeans the next day.

Restaurants & bars were great. Food was ok, but if you get all wrapped up in planning & paying for the perfect getaway and hit the Mexican buffet two or three times in a row, you are just asking for trouble. It was OK, but everything else was better. I won’t Xerox all the other positive reviews of MoNoHana. Just try it. You’ll like it. Gondolas had a better breakfast bar. Probably had the same items, but everything seemed warmer & fresher. I second the opinion of a previous poster that the Cuban sandwiches in the lobby bar were excellent. We ate at one of the pool bars on two occasions, but really didn’t care for the food. I had some ribs that were steaming hot, but inedible as far as taste and texture – and I have a pretty high tolerance level for food. There was only one time where the restaurants in the lobby were all closed at the same time for switchover. Our fault not theirs, as the times are posted at the entrances. Service was awesome wherever we ate. We didn’t try room service. I guess the food was the weak point of our stay. Everything was kindof on the bland side. Could be just the way they cook though. On the last day, I couldn’t wait to get back to the Cancun airport and eat at Bubba Gumps. –Airport menu prices are in Pesos by the way.

Shopping & excursions – we never left the resort. Had too much fun poolside, beachside, and buffetside. If you are planning on doing any shopping – booze, snacks, souvies, clothes, jewelry, etc – do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with the sundries shops at the resort first. Prices and variety are very good. And there was an outdoor market setup near the stage a couple of nights.

Our group of 600 voted to come back again next year – the first back-to-back resort we’ve ever stayed at. Already looking forward to it. Hope this review was helpful!! Any questions - just ask!
