During the spring break my family and I visited moon palace gold and spa resort. As usual we stayed at the best part, Sunrise. One night our family decided to take a rest in the Nizuc lobby bar area. Our ears began to be filled with delightment when we heard amazing piano playing. Bela Duka was the name of the extraordinary pianist. His playing blew us away. We ended up listening to the beautiful music he produced for about an hour. I highly recommend to listen to his playing and to his very professional technique. His playing will light up any room. My family and I are so excited to return to this hotel to hear the wonderful Bela play.

Great accommodation, outstanding restaurant selection and service, I didn't want to go home!
Food was outstanding and the golf including lessons, was terrific! The spa services are second to none, massages, pedicures, manicures, etc, they really know how to spoil you!

Just returned from our yearly trip to Moon Palace. This was our second year staying on the Moon Grand side. Our room was amazing, very spacious and had all the amenities we wanted. Despite the cold pool at Nizuc and Sunrise, Grand's pool was soooo warm. Elena was our server around the pool and she was fantastic. My kids loved her!
Only 2 downsides to our trip. I ordered a pillow from the in room pillow menu (twice) and it never showed up. We called for a wake up call for our early morning departure for the airport and it never happened. Neither if these things ruined our trip but prevented me from giving it a higher rating. Hope to be back again next year!

Room Tip: Rooms in 85 building don't have a view of the ocean but are very quiet.

We visited Moon Palace for Spring Break this year with our kids (ages 9 and 6). After much reading on the internet I booked a Golf Villa/Suite (2 Bedroom). I couldn't find much information on this room type and struggled deciding if the extra money was worth it or not...as it turns out, it was.

Our room was huge. It was actually 3 separate rooms. One Master Suite with bath and tub, a connecting sitting area with a table, sofa, and television and another large bedroom with 2 queen beds, tub and bathroom. There were 2 large balconies--1 large enough for a table with chairs as well as 2 lounge chairs. It was clean, quiet and the maids and concierge for the buildings were incredibly helpful and nice.

The villas are located on the golf course near the spa area and 1/2 mile down a path (about 3/4 mile from Sunrise). As a result, we had our own golf cart to use for transportation throughout the entire resort for our stay. There is transportation available in the resort but not having to wait for any rides was quite nice. Additionally our rooms were very quiet & everyone slept great.

The fitness center in Sunrise was nice--attended 2 spin classes that were great and the spin bikes were available to use anytime gym open as well. Nice treadmills (although we ran outside) and quite a variety of weights with machines, free weights, kettle bells, and medicine balls. A variety of classes offered as well.

If you are a runner, the resort was perfect. There is a running trail and with a little creativity a loop of 5-6 miles could be fashioned through wooded areas, on a running specific trail and on the beachfront. With an all inclusive resort, stopping for water was easy if wanting to run several loops!

The food was good--we had no complaints. A ton of different options and we didn't have a bad meal the entire week. The service in the restaurants was exceptional. Our last afternoon we found the outside Taco Bar near a pool at Grand--eat there. The tacos were amazing.

Our kids LOVED Kids Club. They made friends, liked the staff (Thank you Azucena, Cristina, Karla and Maricruz), and more than once almost wanted to be there rather than hang out with us.

This trip was planned fairly last minute as another trip didn't work out--it was perfect. We were there for 6 nights and no one was ready to leave. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: We loved the Villas at the Golf Course--not necessary if with just a couple but if traveling with ch...

Just got back from our annual trek to the Moon Palace. Wow! There's a lot of changes going on. All for the better I might add. Our room had been refurbished with a new jacuzzi and wall treatments. The enormous shower stall now has a rainhead - what a joy! I'm sure the mattresses are new because we all slept like logs. Same great in room bar with the well stocked fridge. Some of the biggest changes are outside the room. The new FlowRider was a big hit with the kids. My son and his friends would spend hours riding the waves. It's also a great spectator sport because they have a magnificent new bar with tables in the front of it. The wings are yummy. Revamped main bar, Sky Bar and new Noir nightclub mean lots of happy times late evening. The golf course was in good shape but even so they decided to punch the greens. Not so good for us but probably pretty good now. There's new snack shacks with free sandwiches and beverages every 4 holes or so which was a big hit with our group of golfers. They even provide coolers on the carts now so you never get thirsty. The oriental restaurant now has several Hibachi tables. These seat 12 (happily our group size) and come with a fabulously talented chef who cooks your meal right in front of you. Topped that with a bottle of wine off their upgraded wine list and it was a meal worthy of any gourmet restaurant. The usual massages, fabulous service and friendly staff rounded out another fabulous week at the MP. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Stay in Sunrise if you golf or have children. It has the biggest pool and the best shuttle service...

The resort is clean and well maintained. We stayed at Sunrise but Grand is also a good location, more isolated and quieter. Transportation from the airport was included, safe and comfortable. Being an all inclusive place one might expect the food to be so-so but most restaurants were very good while La Trattoria was truly exceptional. Our favorite waiter over there was Edgar, remarkable in every way while Carlos the Mexican entertained us with his violin. The food was delicious, small portions presented impeccably, must try them all! And keep room for the deserts, they are special. There are many restaurants on the premises, they are open almost all the time (short 1 hour breaks) and the variety of foods is impressive. The pools are clean and very well tended to with all sorts of activities for both adults and kids. There are bikes to be rented, a mini-golf course, tennis and basketball courts, a very nice club, shows almost every night, live entertainment in the lobby of both Sunrise and Nizuc. The singer at Sunrise was special; he kept us dancing late in the night. The bars are well stocked and the cocktails are good and fresh. It is nice to have all covered and enjoy such a variety of foods and drinks. But the MOST IMPRESSIVE of all is the STAFF. We rarely encountered such dedicated, nice, polite, smiling, helpful and friendly people. The staff everywhere made us feel comfortable, welcome and appreciated, tip them well, they deserve it. If you want to feel pampered like never before you must visit the place. 1 week is too short though, not enough time for all the resort has to offer.

Room Tip: Ask for ocen view, a lot of them have it due to clever architecture.

We have just returned from a week at the Moon Palace. The hotel is vast, but lovely. We stayed in Sunrise and although I requested an upper floor, pool or ocean view room, we were on the ground floor, facing the garden. However, our rooms were lovely, spacious and newly renovated and we were totally happy with them .There was always plenty of hot water, which is always a bonus.

There is free wifi and calls back to Us/ Canada which is great.

The staff in the restaurants are very attentive and eager to please, even if the language barrier can sometimes be an issue. However, we were really disappointed with the food. The buffets were all the same bland, Luke warm food and the only restaurant we really enjoyed the food at was the Italian, located on the golf course. We usually absolutely love Japanese food and always enjoy the Tappanaki tables, but we were really disappointed with this restaurant , the food was totally full of salt and we all hated it.

The beach is practically unusable, due to the vast amounts of seaweed that it accumulated and although the staff work really hard to remove it, there is a strong odor that comes onto the resort with it.

The Flowrider was a big hit with the kids, but it is frustrating when the guy who runs it, continually spends endless time on it whilst there is a big line up of guests waiting in line to use it, or when he opens it and it is for private lessons only. It would be nice for the staff that run it, to spend some time helping coaching some of the kids .

Although the pools were cold at the start of our trip, we found two heated pools, one inNuzic and one at the Grand side, which was lovely. The Nuzic has a coffee and sweets cafe by the pool, which became one of our favorite morning hangouts.

Although the resort is large it is lovely to walk along the path by the ocean frm one end to the other, there is transportation if you have difficulties walking.

We usually get really involved with the activities around the pool, but we found the entertainment very inconsistent and probably difficult due to the sheer size of the resort.

My daughter and I went for a deluxe manicure on our last day, which was very nice, but realized the next day, the our nail polish was already chipping, which is not what you expect for a $67 manicure,. I went to the spa and loved the steam room, with the hot tub etc, it was lovely to be pampered there.

We took thei hotel shuttle to their beach palace resort and had a lovely afternoon playing in the ocean and using their facilities, if you like the ocean it is really worth the trip.

The resort credit is difficult to use unless you play golf or go swim with the dolphins, you have to pay 11% tax on anything you use of the credit. You can use it to have professional photos done, which we didn't realize until it was too late to book, but this could be a lovely holiday keepsake.

There is an awful lot of construction going on, which was not too much of an intrusion, but I would not have been thrilled to be staying at the Grand side, with all the noise going on at that end.

Overall, we had a nice vacation, but would not return again to this resort.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe family room and it was spacious and suited our needs well
