I've stayed her several times. This time, my fiancé and I brought along an old childhood friend of mine. We had what is called a Presidential suite. We had a large balcony looking over the pool and with a great beach view. There was a hot tub, but we never had occasion to use it this trip. Like I've said before, this hotel is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. There is always someone washing, dusting, and sweeping. The staff are always busy, you don't see anyone standing around. The pools are very clean and they have activity staff that keep the place jumping. I did the aqua aerobics 3 days at noon; lots of fun. This is a great base camp to visit the rest of Cancun and the area. This trip we went on a Coba/xel ha tour. The only real drawback is they now charge $10 a day for Wifi. Also the phone number on the phone that says that people from the US can call you using, doesn't work. Watch out if you decide to swim in the ocean, the under current is very strong.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine, but if you get one with a balcony and an ocean view it always makes your tri...

The Good: Great grounds. Beach was beautiful & not very crowded unlike some of the other hotels. Pools were nice & clean. Bartenders, waiters, waitresses were very friendly. Municipal Bus service is very convenient.
The Cons: You have to pay for wifi. In this day and age, that is sad. You have to pay $6/day/person for the gym...another surprise for an all inclusive. Don't expect good customer service from the front desk. You will be treated as a terrible distraction, and how dare you interrupt whatever it is they were doing before you dared to ask for assistance. They should spend some time with the restaurant employees in order to understand how to treat a customer. The chambermaids were hit or miss with soaps, etc. no shampoo the 1st day. Mysteriously appeared the 2nd day. The 'Vacation Club' aka timeshare presentation is introduced as a 90 day minute deal, expect at least 2.5 hours and seriously, don't waste your time

The place is just fine for the price.

Hotel:
The rooms and grounds are clean... no mini bar in the rooms only water. The grounds are a little dated and overall not fancy. The check in employees are not friendly, nor are they very helpful... make sure you speak up or they will not even look at you. The cleaning staff will make many mistakes such as forgetting towels, water, soap... can be fixed with a tip, that is, do not wait to tip until your departure, tip each time you get your room serviced... couple of dollars will do. DO NOT do the timeshare presentation even though they offer you discounts etc. It will waste on or about 4 hours of your day, and there are not really any true discounts. You will get a fifty dollar voucher toward an excursion booked through the hotel. Again, not worth the time. Get a safe for your room... costs you 24 pesos per day or 2 US dollars... worth every penny. Skip the Wifi... available for free at the mall located right across the street.

Swimming:
The 2 pools are not heated so guests are limited to swimming only during the day. The beach is unreal, absolutely beautiful and not crowded... many small tiki huts to provide shade while at the beach.

Food:
Not a tremendous amount of options at the buffet... breakfast is good (not great), lunch is good (not great), and dinners are adequate (not good). Saturday night is the best buffet night. There is one restaurant on sight (Italian) which is bad. Stay away from traditional Italian meals (pastas) and stick with pizza, calzones, chicken, and steak. It is worth eating there, only once, for the live music and appetizer bar. Reservations can be made on or after 2:00 pm each day. It fills up quickly so make sure you set at 2:00 pm.

Drinks:
Not a great selection. Well options/bottom shelf only regarding liquor and only one type of beer, Carona. All drinks are served in styrofoam cups which is very unappetizing at first but you get used to it.

Excursions:
Snorkeling... Acumel is great (lots of turtles) and I also recommend not going on the "Albatross" boat trip but instead choosing the "Islander" boat trip (lots of exotic fish), you will not regret it. Avoid "Aquaworld's" snorkeling excursions, not worth it. Take advantage of the free sailing at "Aquaworld".

Misc:
Outdoor mall across street is great... not much into shopping but you can do a ton of it if interested... high end stores. Its good to get a cold drink and walk around, people watch. If interested in nightlife, the bus, located right outside of the hotel, is very easy to use. It costs 95 pesos or they will accept one US dollar.

Overall, we had a great time. This hotel is generally a lot cheaper than other comparable hotels, so again, its probably a very good deal for the money.

We are surprised that we have to pay to use the safe in the room. The wifi is 10$ for 1hr and 16$ for 24 hrs. When we first arrived room, there is cleaning cloth left in the sink. The cleaning staff also forgot to put enough towels and complementary two bottles of water during one of the days. The food in buffet has not many variations. The waiters are nice. The front desk staff on the first day does not speak much English and not very patient to answer questions. The pool are good, not much shade though. The sea is rough and we could not swim during our stay.

The good:
the bartenders
the Italian restaurant

The bad: 90% Brazillian guests. 15 year old Brazillian girls in thongs. Everyone stared at us everywhere we went as we were some of the only Americans.

Had a pair of sunglasses stolen from out room.

I wouldn't feed the buffet or snack bar food to my dog.

The hotel manager was the most incompetent man I've ever met.

The safe didn't work, we called down to have it fixed-noone ever came. When we checked out they said we had to pay and I refused. They wouldn't let us checkout until we paid for it. The manager said they didn't have a record of our calling to have it fixed so he couldn't drop the charge. He said we had to pay and turned and walked away. I had to pay so they didn't charge my card for an extra night stay.

From the US? DO NOT STAY HERE.
