“Nice Beach, Nice Staff, Room eh...”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the CasaMagna, though I was a little disappointed at the check-in process. It was definitely slow and I didn't feel very "appreciated." Granted I think I'm spoiled, because I'm Platinum. We had a FABULOUS rate at the property, which included breakfast every morning; however, I found the food to be somewhat pricey while very "average." The waitstaff at the pool were all very nice and overall the property is nice. The room (which was supposedly upgraded) was EXTREMELY average, but again that's me being somewhat spoiled. The location was awesome, so I would go back (as long as I got the great rate).

Room Tip: I loved the pool/beach view (with a balcony).

We had a great stay at CasaMagna. Loved the old world charm of the hotel. It's a little older and needs a little upkeep here and there, but all in all a great place to spend a week in Cancun. We had a wonderful straight on view of the pool and beach, it really could not have been better. It was super clean and all the staff we encountered were so friendly. We did not have the all inclusive deal, so we bought breakfast and lunch in the gift shop and found it to be good and affordable. We ate one meal at the hotel, Champions, and found it to be somewhat pricey(that's how it is anywhere you go though). We walked down the road to a great road side taco cantina a couple of night and had pizza from Papa Johns, across the street, another. Not sure if it was the time of year that we were there, last week in April, but we never had any trouble finding a place to sit, even under a cabana, on the beach. Beach is super clean...didn't really use the pool. But it always looked like there was plenty of room. We loved our stay at CasaMagna, clean, very friendly staff, nice location, easy bus ride to other places. We would stay here again, no question.

We planned a trip to Cancun for a quick recharge and the Casa Magna really delivered. The hotel is well situated in the middle of the strip and has easy bus service and food options right outside, however, my wife and I found little reason to leave the property due to the outstanding amenities available right on site. The beach is beautiful with pristine white sand and strong surf and breeze. Service was available at the beach and we both had drinks delivered to our seats and also brought our own drinks from outside, overall the hotel was very amenable to bringing your own food and drinks to the ocean and pool. We were not on an inclusive plan, but we got a room w/breakfast included at an incredible rate so we were able to explore the restaurants and every meal that we had was exceptional. If you use the Spa, get Andreas as a masseuse, he truly enjoys his work! There are a few cons to mention 1) Check in time is fairly late and we had to sit around waiting for a room to be available, 2) The rooms are a little dated and small. Overall, we thought that the Casa Magna was an exceptional value and are planning on going back in the future.

We stayed at this hotel under the Sand Dollar plan you stay 3 nights and you get the 4th night free. We thought it was a great deal 2 queen beds for family of 4 (all other hotels chared extra for 2 additions people) and because we had the Sand Dollar plan we were given $50 credit to spend anywhere in the hotel. We used our credit towards the breakfast buffet it was about $22 each and was wonderful!
We had a full ocean view our room was very nice and exclusive, we did pay extra but it was worth it. Here is what we loved about this hotel, you can bring in anything to the pool area beer wine anything food and they don't mind! this is different, I think it's because it's expensive so they give you a brake. bus stop right outside the hotel, OXXO store across the street buy the banna wraped tamales they were wonderful, pizza joint, McDonalds and pay attention to were the taxi drivers are eating they under neath a small store across the hotel they sell the best and freshes shrimp tacos we have ever tastes low low prices! sorry can't rememer the name of the little store. We saved $ on the airport transportation. Exit the airport to your left you will see red buses that are for the locals we paid $5 ea. to down town then 2 ea to our hotel vs $60 with any other of the mini vans or private shuttles don't pay it not worth the money the bus was very nice inside and out!

Room Tip: We stayed at this hotel under the Sand Dollar plan you stay 3 nights and you get the 4th night free...

The CasaMagna Cancun is a very nice hotel.
Pros:
1) Good Location about the middle of the Hotel Zone
The local buses run right out front. 20 Peso's takes you
anywhere you want to go, and they run every five minutes.
2) Mc Donalds and two convenience stores right across the street.
Everything in Cancun is very expensive, so if you can get beer and
snacks right across the street cheap, that's a plus.
3) Beautiful hotel, a real wow when you walk into the lobby
4) Rooms are nice, clean, good size
5) Nice beach, adequate pool- a little small, nice hot tub
6) Very nice staff
7) Nice big balcony
8) Reasonable price

Con's:
1) Like all Marriott's they really gouge you for the extra's
a) Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, but extra in the rooms
b) Breakfast costs an additional $10.00 per person in the room package.
A very nice typical Marriott breakfast. But it gets very boring after a week,
and there's a Mc Donalds across the street, you could get a good breakfast
for alot less.
c) On site food and drinks are very expensive. Boat Drinks at the swim up bar
are $12.00 each, and don't have much alcohol. A hamburger at the sports bar
is $19.00, it was very good, but that's alot.(But a 32oz Beer of $10.00 was pretty good)
d) The room descriptions are deceptive. The balcony of "Ocean View Guest Room"
faces another hotel, if you stand to the far side of the balcony and twist your head you
can see the ocean, but if you want to sit on your balcony and look out at the ocean, its
a "Premium Ocean Guest Room" and that's an upcharge.
e) $4.00 a can for soda from the mini-bar, $8.00 for beer.

Overall I would recommend this hotel. A nice room, in a good location, at a fair price.
The extra for the Premium Ocean View was worth it, even though it made me mad. And make sure you buy your beer and treats across the rooms.

Room Tip: Pay for the Premium Ocean View if you want to sit on the balcony and look at the ocean instead of th...

Very central. Bus station is very close. Big, clean hotel with great rooms. We had a sea view room. Amazing views from the bed or balcony.
Pool is great as well as a beach.
Not a cheap place.
Restaurants are nice, we loved a Japanese.
The only hotel i found in Cancun with charm. Not a new box with all inclusive tourists.
Love this place
Advise: there is always waves on that side of Cancun.
Take a north side hotels with Isla Mujeres view. They protected from waves by the Isla

We stayed here for one night following our honeymoon in Riviera Maya. Our American flight got canceled and American put us up in this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are nice and our room overlooked the beach. The property was very clean and the staff was helpful. We had dinner at the sports bar onsite and it was good. I much prefer an all inclusive hotel but this one was ok for a non inclusive spot.
