We are on night 2 of a 4 night stay. Rooms, food and staff are wonderful. We did the club 91 upgrade and is well worth the cost. Big issue for us has been the LOUD music and strobe lights right next door at the Hard Rock Hotel which are expected to run for the lenght of our stay. Just beware to anyone traveling with kids. Even with the doors of the room closed you can feel the base and see the lights from the show scanning the hotel room as you try to sleep. It has ruined our experience regardless of the great staff, food and service. Our kids have not slept well with the thumping and hotel room light show which has led to crabby days.

Suggestion: check the concert schedule for the Hard Rock BEFORE you book. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation or have kids who need their sleep and there are concerts booked, do not stay at this hotel.

The neighbor hotel had its opening event last week; that was the reason of the lights and the music. From conversations with their directives we learned this will not be an ongoing situation. We will keep monitoring this and any other close by events to prevent them from disturbing ours guest during their stay.

The hotel, the grounds, the pools and the beach were all beautiful !! The people were more then friendly and very accommodating. Our room service Surf & Turf was as good as any restaurant I've eaten in. The rooms were comfortable and the prices were reasonable. This is a great place to spend your vacation so don't listen to anybody that says this hotel is "Horrible". There is the most beautiful indoor heated pool on the 4th floor and a 20 x 20 spa right next to it and we were the only one's using either. How much nicer do you want it ???

Room Tip: Main pool view is the best !!

My husband and I have been to Cancun many times in the past. This was the first time we have stayed at the JW Marriott. At first we were not impressed. Actually we did not like it and called another hotel in Puerto Morelos to check on availability for us to change locatons. However, we decided to stay and really enojyed ourselves. One thing we did do is change the location of our room. We were on the side of the hotel facing the eye sore hotel next door - The Hard Rock. The music they were playing was so loud it actually bounced off the JW. Also, while having coffee at 7 am on Saturday morning, the music that the Hard Rock played in the parking lot which directly carried to the JW was RUDE! Once we asked to switch to the side facing the sister Marriott we were very pleased. The conceirge, the pool staff, the staff at Sedona Grill and house keeping were really wonderful. I have to say the front desk was not bad just not really friendly (except for the women who checked us out). The breakfast at the JW Marriot was the best we have ever experienced, it was wonderful as was the food by the pool. The location is great, you can walk to a lot of really good restaurants and only 10 minutes from the airport. At the begining of the trip we thought never again however by the time we checked out we were dreaming of our next stay. I have to say , in my opinion, the JW is the best hotel in the hotel zone. One last observation, the gym/spa was wonderful. I counted 22 pieces of cardio equipment and another room for spin class!

Just retruned from 5 days @ JW. Save your time (researching) and money - go to another hotel: their sister hotel - Marriott Casa Magna - next door; it is less expensive but way worth the value.
Huge Tip: Do not pay for Club 91 it is a waste. The JW tries to compete with the Ritz (Club Lounge) but believe me there is NO comparison. The staff has no knowlege of their own property, how could you ask advice for the surrounding area? The food and drink are extremely limited.

I consider myself to be a pretty seasoned travler. This hotel does not

Our Club 91 offers the best accommodations in the hotel and also fresh food presentations from 7AM to 10:30AM for breakfast and from 12 to 10PM for lunch and dinner. We also present daily different flavors from our different restaurants at the JW Marriott Cancun and the CasaMagna Marriott. Our intention is to offer a wide variety of options every day. The Club 91 Manager has received both your comments on the food and the personnel. We are really sorry your Club 91 experience was not up to your expectations.

This was our third visit to the JW Marriott. Once again, we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Relaxing beyond our expectations!

The Sedona Grill was great for breakfast with so many choices, you couldn't have asked for any more. We ate dinner there twice and each time enjoyed the meal, the service, and the ambiance. One night, we were the only people in the restaurant, but we expected that at this time of the year with the hotel only being 20 percent full.

We ate breakfast and dinner at Gustino's three times after the Sedona Grill closed for the low season and for renovations. The dinner service is beyond what you could hope for (separate review posted for the restaurant). The presentations are beautiful, the complimentary appetizer and dessert are spectacular. Thank you Alex and Julio and your assistants for your gracious hospitality. It was a wonderful experience all three nights.

We still enjoy the pool area especially because it is not crowded at this time of year. We were here in March and have decided not to visit Cancun at that time of year again due to the overwhelming crowds (did not like the mental pressure of having to reserve chairs at 6 am in the morning just to get some shade; even though it's cold here in NY at that time, it just isn't worth the crowds; we can have crowds each day as we head to work in NYC). At this time of year, you can come down to the pool any time of the day and get a premium spot! The pool service is excellent! Thank you Javier and Ivan for your friendly welcome when we returned this visit. Congratulations to Joel on your promotion! You are an excellent waiter and we really enjoyed talking with you during the day. Please be generous with your gratituities as these folks work very hard to please you during the day.

The room is just as we expected; not as large as some rooms in Cancun, but very adequate; I prefer carpeting instead of marble tiles. These rooms are fully carpeted. The view was fantastic as always. Ask for a room overlooking the main pool. The view overlooking the adult pool is fine, but the main pool view is better.

The Hard Rock is next door (formerly Cancun Palace). While we did hear the music in the afternoon, it was not disturbing at all as another viewer posted. It was intermittent with long periouds of quiet during the day. We actually enjoyed it while we were having lunch at the Beach Walk restaurant.

There is nothing to dislike about this hotel. Service is impeccable, food is excellent, room is comfortable, and views are wonderful. If you are looking for a great, relaxing vacation, this is it. If you are looking for a "non" all inclusive hotel, this is one of just a few that are left in Cancun. Enjoy!
