At Fred’s, the culinary experience is completed by spectacular sunsets reflected over the Cancun lagoon, a sight that can be enjoyed from the main chamber to the comfortable villas located at the terrace. Fred’s American Seafood & Oyster Bar has a culinary proposal including fish and seafood prepared on the spot and accompanied by one of the most emblematic drinks available at Fred’s: the Mojito, in a range of unexpected varieties and bold flavors. And, to enhance the experience, Fred’s also includes an eclectic variety of wines and liquors. The warmth of its personnel and the courteous service you will receive will be the wheel that guides your ship en-route to an enchanting dining experience.

We had the seafood platter for 2. Lobster, scallop, octopus, king crab. Wow it was awesome. Our waiter Mario was most attentive to our needs.

I've traveled to more than 50 countries on business and this was hands-down, the best seafood restaurant I've been to. I took 27 of my colleagues to Fred's for a nice dinner, and it did not disappoint. It wasn't cheap. With liquor, dessert, tips, and lots of lobster and hors devoures, we spent about $148 per person. A couple going for a good meal can probably get out of here together for about that much. We just ordered the best of everything. The service was exceptional. The seafood impeccable (one colleague did send his steak back 2 times, finally asked it to be butterflied) but this was great and amazing. Probably the best restaurant in Cancun. It did get noisy when it was full. If you are looking for a special evening, I recommend this place. Thanksfully it was on the company tab.

Chose Fred's because it was right across the street from where we were staying at the JW Marriott. From the outside it does not look like much, but when you step inside, it is one heck of an operation. We booked online in the afternoon on Open Table and were escorted to our seats within seconds of opening the door. There were a number of families with small children waiting for a table and they all seemed to be a bit unhappy when we breezed in and got seated. We ordered a bottle of mexican wine, which was fantastic. We always drink local beer and wine when we are on vacation. My wife ordered the local fish of the day and it was excellent. I made the mistake of ordering BBQ shrimp. They tasted good, but to get the bacon fully cooked that the shrimp was wrapped in, the shrimp were overcooked. Stay with anything that is grilled, because that is their specialty. Order a piece of cheesecake for desert and it was way too big for two people to finish, but it was excellent. I would highly reccomnd Fred's, just don't order the BBQ shrimp. Yes, it is expensive, but the food and the service are woth what you pay. If you want to eat at a chain restaurant that is cheap and one that you have in your local strip mall in the US, then this is not your place.

I was surprised in the end what our bill came to, but thought it was worth it. We had some raw oysters to start with along with a few pineapple mojitos. Both were terrific. We then shared the Seafood Grill for 2, which again was amazing. Loved the atmosphere, loved the wine, loved the service. Sat outside, which is always worth it in Cancun!
