Great atmosphere, outdoor lagoon side cabana with privacy provided by lush vegetation. Servers hoovered until more dinners arrived, odd background music.
The cocktails were good, the shrimp in the display case are huge, when I ordered the skewered shrimp appetizer I assumed those jumbos would find their way to my plate but instead the shrimp on my skewers should have been made into a shrimp salad, skewering these shrimp required great precision.
The grilled fish entrees were good, served on a table top grill which was for ornamental/serving purposes only but made it awkward to access the fish.
There were 3 for dinner, our tab consisted of three cocktails, two apps, two main courses, one bottle of wine ($25 US for wine) and one desert; with tax and tip $200 US.
Overall very nice place but overpriced.

Nice restaurant on the lagoon side. Had the grouper which was delicious. Service was good, not great. Restaurant layout has the waiters looking like an army of ants running all around the place. Apparently, your fish is cooked at one end of the restaurant and all your sides are cooked at the other end. So all you see are waiters running back and forth with trays of food.

We stumbled in here after a bad experience at Peter's (look for my review there) and were very pleasantly surprised. It can be a trendy, tourist spot. But we took advantage of a friend knowing a manager, got great table outside with no reservation on a Friday night with a party of 7 - they were SO accommodating. Drinks were good (a little pricey for MX but it is Cancun), food was very good. Overall a very nice experience.

My husband and I dined here for our Thanksgiving dinner and had a spectacular seafood meal. They base their service off of a steakhouse but serve fresh and flavorful seafood. We were able to view the seafood selection and sizes on a tray in the beginning and our waiter was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I loved their complimentary tasters from the bisque to the bread and butter selection and to finish their shaved ice with a local "horchata" style cream sauce. I had the lobster tail and mixed green side while my husband had the lobster tail and filet combo. All was very good but the filet was just good. Please remember that this is a seafood restaurant so ONLY order seafood.

Stayed at JW and went to Fred's for dinner after reading the great reviews.. If you like 10 servers running around you and checking on you every minute then this is the place for you. We couldn't even have a dinner conversation without being interrupted every few minutes! Our server was also very rude and kept giving us the wine menu 3 times, even after we declined it! The food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. Similar to Red Lobster but paying Ruth's Chris prices. The seafood didn't seem fresh at all- terribly over salted and fishy smelling. We know good food and this just wasn't it. Also, after the very mediocre dinner we declined desserts and our server gave us a very sour face. Afterwards he brought out shaved ice and poured egg nog over it claiming it was on the house! Disgusting! The one positive thing I have to say is the location is nice and the appetizer was good. Please do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.
