Good food, good service. Ok prices, not inexpensive.
We had lots of drinks so our check was quite big because of that.
Got great pics outside because we got there right before sunset, and it was a great view by the lagoon.

At first, this restaurant was looked forward to yearly. The food was good, service was prompt and reservations for 10 or more was never a problem. However, this last trip was not so nice. After a delicious dinner for a party of 15 at the habachi table, our experience turned unhappy after we were given the check. First it is printed in pesos, with a suggested tip included with a total in pesos. Under that total is the dollar amount which does not included a suggested tip. When we gave the server dollars not pesosincluding a tip, he tried to multiply the currancy rate to the dollar amount which led to an ungodly amount of a $300.00 tip! We told him he was crazy but he insisted that we tip him on the currancy exchange rate of 11.30. We called for a manager which he said we could tip what we wanted, duh, and he had no answer on how the server got the tip amount. He got a 15% tip and after that, nothing good to say about Katsu-Ya as we felt ripped off and unappreciated of eating there 3 times in 2 weeks.

My family and I enjoyed this lovely Japanese restaurant last night. The service was great, the staff very nice, food was of good quality and plated beautifully. They also have Hibachi tables and service (free show included) The restaurant has indoor seating-modern and attarctive as well as a great outdoor space that overlooks the water.

CAUTION-BE SURE TO NOTE THE PRICES ON THE MENU. Bottle water is 10.00 USDOLLARS per bottle (and I'm NOT talking about a huge bottle) and worse than that, there are only 2 brands of sake sold. WE chose one that turned out to be 850 peso-NEARLY 76.00 US DOLLARS.(THIS WAS ENOUGH SAKE FOR ONE PERSON-NOT A HUGE WINE BOTTLE SIZE) Due to this our dinner was raised 100.00 BUCKS and the service charged automatically raised another 20.00 BUCKS. I was quite shocked at the bill as you can imagine.

All in all, I WOULD GO BACK but I would opt for tap water and a beer.

Great food, great service, good location and atmospher. JUST WATCH THE PRICES BEFORE YOU ORDER!

Wonderful evening! We were a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was very impressive. The flaming crepes for dessert was exceptional! We will return again next time we are in Cancun.

We had a wonderful evening; had plenty of food and could share the different platters. Negative was that each dish was served in stages and between dish and dish we had to wait; it is nice when you have different flavours served at once.
