“Great place to stay in Cancun”

This resort is very well maintained and comfortable without the huge crowds we have encountered at other resorts. The pool area and beach have plenty of lounge chairs and shade if you want it. The rooms are spacious and clean. We weren't interested in the time share sales pitch but the staff and activity booking staff were helpful. Other than being asked where we were going every time we left the resort the whole family had a great time.

Room Tip: All rooms are oceanview but the ones overlooking the pool area have less wind than the beachfront un...

I picked the Royal Caribbean based on TripAdvisor reviews. These were pretty accurate. It's a big hotel right on the beach in the Hotel Zone and was well priced. The guests are predominantly American and many of the rooms are time share from what I can gather. I simply needed a good clean room, centrally located - as I had 2 days of fly-fishing booked at Isla Blanca and was out before sunrise and back in the late afternoon - so this place was ideal for my needs. The surf beach was very nice and right in front of the hotel. I ate at the hotel restaurant which was OK if somewhat ordinary. I tried the Captain's Cove restaurant across the road on my last night and this was much better - very nice blackened grouper and sangria - just what you need after a long day in the sun fly-fishing! My one gripe I had to move rooms on Saturday morning - this was stated on my booking and the staff did make this as painless as possible - but be warned this does happen a fair bit from what I can gather. Anyway recommended if you need a comfortable, clean base from which to enjoy activities out and about in Cancun.

Just checking in today with two friends so far I am impressed. Beautiful grounds, lobby, pool area. Reasonably priced restaurant Tradewinds. Lunch for three with sandwiches, fries and sodas was 44.00 US. Later this evening brick oven pizza with three toppings, two desserts, coffee, two sodas, mixed drink was 48.00. Really not too bad for resort prices. Beach is gorgeous and so clean. But....why no paper towels!!?? We have a two bedroom two bath condo with kitchen. Paid 1200.00 for the week and Royal Resorts really can't afford to supply paper towels or kitchen hand soap? Pretty bad guys. Pretty bad. Sometimes it's the little things that count.

The property is wonderful, well maintained and relaxing. Great beach.
The rooms are better than most and clean. Just nothing fantastic but very nice.

Just avoid Tradewinds Restaurant. Everything was a hassle, especially for breakfast. Unless you get the buffet, service is slow and painful. Breakfast was our only meal herd during the stay.

Every employee I have encountered is friendly and helpful. The resort is clean and orderly. There are more things to do than other places we vacation and everything is easy to get to. We love it here.

Room Tip: All the rooms here are the same except some directly face the beach and others have a beach and pool...

We have been coming to the Royal Resorts for 20 years and our overall experience was wonderful as always. While the rooms are dated, our entire unit was kept immaculately clean by the house keeping staff. The grounds are very well maintained as well. The hosted events around the pool are entertaining if you would like to have fun. However, the service at both Royal Islander restaurants was very slow (I mention this as you are able to use all amenities at both the Royal Caribbean and Royal Islander which is next door). I noted that we could communicate perfectly in English with our waiter on all subjects until we asked that an umbrella be moved slightly to block the sun from our table and then he suddenly could not understand what we were asking for (I noticed this at the pool as well from a bartender when a guest asked for the music to be changed their seemed to be a sudden communication barrier). As I stated originally, our experience overall was wonderful. Just keep in mind that the staff may have been trained to never say "no" to a guest, instead the tactic seems to be to develop a sudden lack of communication.

1st experience in Mexico. Beautiful weather, great Beach, clean, spacious but dated villa.

No cash accepted @ resort, req. $840 USD to open charge acct & beware of fine print on requiring kitchen be left "cleaned" upon departure w/ $75 USD penalty. Resort store is convenient @ a premium, e.g. 1 qt milk+1 box cereal+1 Ritz crackers+1 small jar salsa+1 doz eggs = $35 USD

"All inclusive" subject to many surcharges. Food quality is on par w/ chain US resturants, such as American Steak House, Ruby Tuesday .....

Strict beach towel policies, but resort activities are unorganized & not well communicated.

Concierge is part of the marketing org NOT affilliated w/ hotel management. BE SURE to clarify EVERYTHING you are told, NOTHING is exactly what it seems. RECORD the name of resort individual who tells you anything, & get written reciept!

Room Tip: Stay away from 1st floor pool side rooms
