“Awesome week at the Royal Caribbean!”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Our first week of a three week stay was at the Royal Caribbean. The weather was fantastic and our unit was on the 7th floor with a great view of the ocean and pool. We shared the villa with my sister and brother-in-law which made the week special and a lot of fun. The guys played golf two days while the ladies chilled out under a palapa! As always, the resort was beautifully maintained and the staff very friendly. It was sad to know that the Royal Mayan will be sold next year. We have had so many good meals and great times at the Palapa over the years! We hate that some of the great wait staff will be losing their jobs! In every way a great week!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room but, given a choice, I would opt for a beach front!

My family had a wonderful time. We were never bored. The suites are comfortable with plenty of room for the family. Very organized staff. Excellent restaurants associated with resort. Many activities for children. Staff very helpful. Beautiful location.

Room Tip: It seems that all rooms have a wonderful view. I prefer lower floors so that I do not need the elev...

Doesn't it seem like every time you are about to leave for vacation you hear some devastating news about the area you are about to travel to. Well of course we heard the news about some incident in Cancun before we left. But once we got to the airport , our nerves vanished and all was well. We used Thomas More for our airport transfer to the hotel. We arrived late, after 10 o'clock p.m. and it went very smoothly. Our room was beautiful we had the one bedroom suite with the two murphy beds in the living room. We were in room 1118. The full size kitchen was clean, and stocked with any utensils you may need. The hotels location is perfect. The beach isn't ideal for swimming and had the red/yellow warning flags up daily. Their clean pools make up for the rough beaches. Daily happy hour at the swim up bars was great(HALF PRICE)! I would advise everyone to take a trip on their bus system I can't even describe it. Its just something you have to do. One day we took the free transfer to the Royal Cancun. The beaches there are more calm but full of seaweed. One night we did a sunset cruise which was a lot of fun. We went to Pancho Willy's and the resorts bar for karaoke two nights. We took the bus downtown one night to see the night action . Some parts of that area are similar to Las Vegas. Our first trip to Cancun was very enjoyable and we are glad we didn't let a negative news story change our plans. Like the previous reviewers the only negative thing I could say about this hotel, is the slow wifi. But you are on vacation after all!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1118, which is on the top floor corner room. Excellent view.

The place is fantastic and well run, no question. The unfortunate thing is that they feel compelled to entertain the guests with silly stuff two or three times a day--which means kids with bull horns cranked up so loud you can hear them in Miami going on and on with games and competitions and bathing beauty shows out in the pool area. If you're planning on reading, relaxing, or taking an afternoon siesta here forget it.

I've stayed in this hotel for one night. The resort service is ok but facilities are not up to date. Nothing special, not surprise. Below is the pro and cons.

Pro:
1. Good location in Cancun hotel area.
2. Receptionist is very helpful.
3. Room is clean.

Con:
1. Some facilities seem to be a little old-fashioned.
2. The concierge was not enthusiasatic when I arrived and left.

The staff at this resort are at your beck and call. If you want some tips only order drinks pool side at 3pm it happy hour. The food at the resort is not that great so go out for dinner. If you have time to paint the clay pottery do it. Looks great when they finish touching it up for you. Be sure to tip the people helping you. They do a lot to make your stay the best it can be.

Loved it!! This was our first time to Mexico and had used our Interval points to stay two weeks here and it didn't disappoint! Everywhere is immaculate from beach to front desk to rooms. Our villa consisted of 2 seperate apartments in one, it was huge and there was only the two of us!! We overlooked the pool and beach which is a rarity unless you had requested it.
We were hoping to revisit next year with the children but were told that as Interval members we may not have the use of this hotel, that would be a big big shame for us!! :-( The only thing I would say though is sunbeds. I will admit I have an issue with these. I have had three REALLY relaxing holidays in the past where I haven't had to get up at 6.00 am to get a sunbed as the hotels have either had the quota of beds assigned to the villa or as in Cyprus last year there was a layout of the beds and you chose where you wanted and those beds were then yours for your holiday period, so guess what?........ Yes correct, actually had a relaxed night sleep and breakfast. I really wish other resorts could take this idea on board! But unfortunately people did ignore management request of 'no hogging' with the threat of remova of belongings over 1 hour being removed. Luckily we went end of season but it was still busy enough round the pool.

Room Tip: If you're staying for a fortnight be sure to request a room for the full two weeks as the accomm...
