“Always beautiful Cancun, Mexico”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

I have stayed at several of the "Royal Resorts." They all seem to have the same layout. We rented a timeshare. It had two bedrooms, two baths, kitchen, living room and balcony. It could have easily slept 8. The service is remarkable, the staff are so polite and accommodating. We had ocean view, which was always beautiful. The rooms are extremely clean. A couple things might be good to know if you stay here. The beds are extremely firm, I found them somewhat uncomfortable. Also, to use any fitness facility in any of the resorts you have to pay a daily or weekly fee. Lastly, you must put EVERYTHING on your card or account. They will not accept any cash, which for an non inclusive was a little annoying. Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend any resort!!

Room Tip: You can get twice as much room for your money if you rent a timeshare instead of getting just a &quo...

We exchanged into the resort through Interval International and were delighted with our accommodation . We had a two bedroom suite right on the beach front with one of the largest balconies we have ever had. It was amazing to sit out for an early breakfast and enjoy the sunshine every day.
We sometimes ate out in the evenings but other times happily dined on the balcony. We had a fabulous meal at Captains Cove and yes we did see crocodiles in the lagoon whilst dining !! We also had the best ever fajitas -poolside one lunchtime ordered through the pool bar. Happy hour was great too for drinks.
I cannot fault the resort at all and would love to visit again. This was our first trip to Cancun and we didn't need to worry at all about safety.
The buses are frequent and very cheap at 8.5 pesos -Walmart and the market places too were very easy to get to on the bus.

We own 1 week at the Royal Islander and love our stay. The staff is extremely friendly. The staff keeps the resort very clean at all times. I am gluten intolerant and the staff at all places we dined were very accommodating to all my needs so I was worry free. Our transport from the airport was on time and waiting for us. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Room Tip: Beach front is the best and relaxing to watch the waves roll in and the sunset!!!

Very nice. Friendly staff and well kept, beautiful grounds. We stay at the Royal Resorts often. The Royal Islander is connected to two other resorts, the Royal Caribbean and Royal Mayan. The Royal Mayan is our favorite of the three; with the Palapa Bar, Restaurant and we prefer their rooms as well; more authentic mexican feel. However, all are linked and have easy access to enjoy multiple restaurants, pools, bars and other amenities.

We own two weeks at this property, which can also be rented, direct from the owners or from the Royal Resorts. Transport from the airport is best arranged through Thomas Moore Travel, who is associated with the Royal Resorts, and have a representative in each resort lobby. The Royals offer the amenities and services found at the finest resorts in Cancun, and the staff is absolutely tops. You are greeted on arrival by the concierge staff, and you meet your personal concierge, whose job is to help you learn about the resort and activities; Cancun and things you can do; places you can visit. He/she will give you orientation and welcome party invitations, and usually a welcome gift as well. There is a car rental office in the lobby, and travel/tour purchase at Thomas Moore, with tours all over the Yucatan peninsula. There is also a mini-mart, clothing store, and laundry. Each Royal Resort has at least one restaurant, and you can dine where you choose. You have the same privileges at all Royal Resorts by using your key card. Most of the people are from owner families, but the same service is extended to renters. There is a free shuttle that operates between all properties and the Captain’s Cove Restaurant and Hacienda Sisal on Kukulcan Blvd, which the Royal Resorts owns. We also appreciate the low cost city bus service from the Hotel Zone to downtown, giving access to more groceries, shopping, restaurants, and tourist destinations. In our view, the Royal Resorts have always functioned on the Golden Rule. There is no more wonderful place to stay than one of the 6 Royal Resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Room Tip: Beach front or back of ocean view, but there isn't a bad villa in the resort.

My husband and I have a week timeshare here and love it. The people are super, the place is spotlessly clean, and the food is great. In particular i love the happy hour bell when the drinks served are of the big girl variety. If you come here be prepared for fun!

Room Tip: Every room is great and has a view of the ocean.

Our first impression of the Hotel was not good. I went there with my fiancé and we were disappointed to find out we were in a room with 2 separate twin beds. I tried to change rooms/upgrade but nothing was available.

Our shower went from hot to cold the entire time and they sent a maintenance person to fix it but the problem persisted.

Overall, the hotel is OK. It’s outdated with older furniture and amenities. The rooms aren’t very exciting. The food is reasonably priced and the service is very good. Everyone was super friendly.

I would not stay here again.
