Stayed from 7/28-8/4. I would hesitate on going back to the hotel. There is no air conditioning in the lobby/bar, halls or elevators. The restaurants had very little air conditioning. Our hotel room was oddly shaped and so the air conditioning wasn’t as strong by the beds as it should have been. It would get very warm while sleeping. The beds were quite comfortable though even the cot. Getting into the tub in the bath room was extremely dangerous. The tub was unusually high. There was a wooden step bench by the tub to assist you in. It could be very dangerous wet or dry. I wouldn’t recommend older people to use the bench or the tub. The food was ok. Cheese for nachos was like water, milk served with a skin on top. The guacomole was wonderful. The food was salty and caused our ankles to swell every evening. The specialty restaurants that you had to make reservations for weren’t worth it. The asian restaurant was definitely not worth it. It was advertised as show cooking which we thought was like a chef cooking on a hibachi. It wasn’t. It was a Chinese buffet. The main buffet was better. The drinks were sweet and very weak. The nightly shows were okay but repetitive.

Some good things. The staff is very friendly, hard working and accommodating. Entertainment staff did a great job all day long. Our room was dated but clean. The pool was quite large and had three different areas for games, bar or quiet. The temperature of the pool was quite warm, I would even call it hot in the late afternoon. They should have a colder filtration system working. The beach area was very large and clean. Why would a hotel in Mexico not have adequate air conditioning!

My Partner and myself stayed at the Riu Caribe in July 2010. First impressions was that it looked a little dated, the lobby was a big open space, yet looked tired. However still not too bad.

We were checked in very quickly, and the guy at the check in desk was friendly. However I did ask for a room on a high floor, and got a room on level 4!!

Overall the hotel was clean, staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and the room with a sea view was good. The only thing I can say was a little annoying, was the noise that came from outside the room, it felt as the the door was open, it had gaps at the bottom so everytime someone walked past our room we could hear them. Adding to that the nightly enterntainment in the lobby could be heard loudly in our room, but luckyly the entertainment stopped around 10.30 ish.

We tried the asian resturant, it had limited menu and we thought we woulf have been a table service (so did the other guests who were sat near us) but it was a buffet, however the food was really good.

The pool area and beach were the highlight of the hotel. They were excellent.

Overall good hotel, in need of little revamp.

Stayed here from 7th july for 2 weeks enjoyed our stay but the hotel room we stayed in on the 8th floor had fantastic view, nice size and clean but the wood furniture stunk of stale smoke, the wardrobe smelled of smoke so we went out and bought 2 air freshners for it.All in all though the hotel very nice.I also had trouble finding a sunbed round the pool with shade where you could either be in the sun or shade,it was shade all day or be out in the hot sun all day so we stayed on the beach. We did a couple of day excursions and a couple of night ones the pirate ship is excellent entertainment for all ages and the food good.We found the excursions a bit pricey but you can go into the cancun centre and book cheaper its a bus ride away.Had a lovely holiday tho and would def recommend the hotel.
