This hotel just has Riu name on it and is not really a 5 star hotel. First day we check in, I was surprise the lobby didn’t have air condition at all. We stayed there for 8 days 7night. 5 nights in our room the AC broken 3 times and never cool enough. After we complain to hotel, they put us on other room but we paid for ocean view and they didn’t have the same room for us. We booked the vacation with all inclusive packages. And found out restaurant food and beverage is very average. We had to pay extra $30 for lobster or steak. We booked our vacation through Apple Vacation but their excursion is way over price. We end up booked ours outside of hotel and had a good deal. Swimming pool is average not big as I expect as a 5 star hotel. Pool bar service and beverage are nice and didn’t wait too long. This hotel's beach is beautiful; we need to be there early to have the cover booth and chair. Spa and fitness room is very very small. The end I will only vote 3 star for this hotel.

We were supposed to leave on a Monday , but due to a big snowstorm our flights were cancelled. Being a big group, Thursday was the earliest departure date given to us. The hotel worked with us and moved our reservations by 4 days. It ended being even better as we got to stay 2 days after New Year's Eve ( it was quieter and more peaceful then)
The hotel property is very nice - beautiful landscaping, good size swimming pool with a nice beach next to it . Our rooms were connected rooms on the first floor - big rooms with a nice balcony facing the swimming pool and beach.
The highlight of our stay was New Year's Eve - a memorable one. Champagne was overflowing - it was amazing everywhere we turned a member of the staff was there with champagne glasses. Good entertainment, lots of fun stuff for kids, must say this was one new years night we will not forget :)
All Inclusive - this was our first experience will an all inclusive resort and must say it set the standards way high. Of the three restaurants, I think we loved the Steak House the best. Mexican was also good but the chinese was a disappointment. I would recommend going to Albatross instead of doing the chinese restaurant.
Overall we had a wonderful time. Thank you :)

Our beach was very small and although the resort was clean and nice, there really is not enough to do on the resort without being forced to leave and go into the city of Cancun. Now if your ok with that then you will like Cancun.

Went to Riu Caribe for my niece's wedding with a party of approx 20 people! So in theory there is a lot that could have gone wrong with that many people but amazingly nothing did.
Loved the reception area, thought it was stunning, all marble, glass and greenery!
Got checked in really quickly and shown straight to room - no waiting around at all. Our room was in the annexe part overlooking the building site and the theatre but we weren't too concerned as tend not to spend any time in the room during the day and at night... well it was dark obviously so the view doesn't make any difference! The upside of this room was that it was twice the size of the rooms of the rest of our party in the main building!
Had most of our meals in the buffet and had no complaints at all from anyone. Lots of hot fresh food and lots of choice over the full 2 weeks. Not sure why some people moan about the food, maybe the Brits are more laid back about that sort of thing or probably just don't expect 7 star food for 4 star prices! Also had a couple of meals in the Asian restaurant and the Steakhouse and loved them all. Didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve these restaurants, we just booked them when we went down for our breakfast.
The wedding was in the 2nd week of our stay and passed without a hitch. The wedding planner and photographer went to a lot of trouble to make sure the bride and groom were really happy with all the arrangements - only slight niggle was that the wedding guests had to sit on chairs that had no shade during the ceremony so as soon as it was over we all jumped up and ran for shade (and a drink!)
At night time you had the option of going to the theatre bar to watch the entertainment which we did a few times and thought some of the shows (Michael Jackson especially) were great, others were a bit hit and miss but hey, it’s not Vegas! Or you had the option of sitting in the bar by the lobby if you wanted a quieter evening… or so we thought! That was when the singing started! An elderly lady turned up most evenings and started bellowing out the world’s worst tunes – really loudly!! We were sat just outside the lobby a couple of evenings enjoying the warm night air and when she started we just leaned over and closed the windows. Unfortunately one of the waitresses saw us and ran over to open them and then proceeded to tell us off ! So nowhere to sit and have a quiet drink in the evenings then!
Overall though I absolutely loved this hotel. Since this holiday in November 2010 we have already been to the Riu Cancun in early 2011 and have already booked the Riu Tequila in November 2011 just to try a different part of Mexico to Cancun. Can’t wait!!

Room Tip: If you're that fussed about a sea view then just ask... they usually oblige!
