There are several kinds of rental opportunities in Riviera Maya. For example there are big all-inclusive glamorous hotels. There are cheap and small backpacker's hostels. There are crazy houses with music, guitars, parties and marijuana. There are luxury and expensive properties in Playcar with agouties and parrots around you.

But Art Deco is something special. For a reasonable price you would find a calm, relaxing, neat, clean and comfortable house with VERY interesting neighbors from all around the world. With big kitchen and two barbecue areas. With big shopping malls and music clubs near you. There is no fitness here, but you can find a gym in 5 minutes of walk from Art Deco suites. Last but not the least, you would get really fast internet connection if you need to work or read news.

(Well well, internet connection is not ultra fast for US or EU people, but really fastest in Cancun, hahah.)

My opinion is like that: forget about luxury hotels and give 5 stars to this place :)

We are grateful for the effort and time you took to write such a nice review! As you noted, there are plenty of places to stay in Cancun that are a non stop parties, but what we offer is a peaceful oasis in the heart of downtown Cancun (close to the party if that's what you are looking for - but not in the midst of it). The fact that you felt comfortable in leaving your expensive Mac Book Pro, iPad, and camera unattended in the common areas for days on end for 2 months tells me that you had no security concerns. We are so happy to host more and more interesting Russian travelers like yourself and your girlfriend and are thankful that the Internet service was satisfactory (the Internet service/speed in Mexico is not on a par with Singapore or Tokyo, which is why we contract 2 separate ISP's with 10 MBPS speed each in order to have a redundant Internet connection for the many guests we have who work online or are Internet professionals. We look forward to hosting you again the next time you are in our tropical paradise, and SPASIBA for the kind review!

The Art Deco suites is priced toward longer stays, week is only bit cheaper than whole month. The place is located in Cancun El centro. Finding the place was difficult due there is no sign outside, road did not have signs and website does not have picture outside. The owner Seth is strict but nice. There agreement for staying was longest I have ever seen. Note that even your staying shorter periods, there are costs which are relevant for longer stays like you need to pay for cleaning, electricity etc. and security deposit is 465USD. When leaving, you need to wash the linens yourself or pay fee for it.

The rooms are decorated nicely and effectively, the walls seem bit thin sometimes and I heard neighbor snoring and drunken noises couple nights. Did not bother me anyway. The inner yard is cosy but it does not get much sunshine due the surrounding buildings. The wi-fi works fine, speed was about 10/1. The common areas inside was barely used and only time I saw anyone was in the kitchen or front yard. The kitchen was bit "rough" but I did not use it myself. There is VOIP phone for short US/CAD calls, washing machines and other kitchen utilities. The kitchen does not have microwave oven but rooms instead have so you need to move around with your food and cutlery/plates. There are few good restaurants near by.

Overall I would recommend the place for longer stay. It's not the cheapest around but location and room quality is nice. Be sure to read agreement well. What I would have loved to have is small guide about the functions, rules and such of the place. At the end of stay, Seth arranged me taxi to airport.

Room Tip: I stayed at court yard corner, maybe higher levels are quieter.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review! As you noted, we are geared more to longer stays and encourage our guests to book in monthly increments for maximum value. Your honest comment about the common kitchen was a wake up call; in response, we have totally refaced all of the counter tops and cabinets as well as replaced the sink faucet as well as the sink itself with a new stainless steel model. I hope next time you visit you will enjoy cooking in out newly remodeled kitchen! The fact is that street signs are not on every corner here in Cancun, which is why we have a detailed "walking map" on our website to guide our guests from the ADO bus terminal, which is a short 3 minute walk from Art Deco Suites. Our guests come from many different countries and cultures which is why we require all of our guests to enter into a Rental Agreement that covers among other things, the House Rules - necessary to maintain order and harmony amongst guests. We look forward to your next visit and hope you can stay longer!

On a last minute trip to Mexico i decided to find something away from the tourist full hotel zone, Art Deco suites could not have been more perfect, a safe haven in downtown Cancun, comfortable, secure, cool and clean accommodation, an interesting mix of long term guests and short breakers willing to share experience and enjoy the odd Tequila on the terrace, i would highly recommend Art Deco suites to those seeking adventure :)
Wifi was mostly available as advertised and the Ramada pool next door a welcome place to cool off!!

What a nice place. Lived for 2 months. Very well located hotel. 3 minutes from the bus station, very convenient for independent travel. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes. Pharmacy, shops, etc. Very comfortable, clean, round order. High-speed Internet! Great pressure of hot and cold water!! This is very important.!))) Traveled to other cities in Mexico and the other hotels ... it is impossible to take a shower. I have often thought of art deco and wanted to return there soon! Seth a great man! When I got sick, it take me to the pharmacy for the necessary medication . Any problems or concerns addressed immediately. Glad to get back to your hotel.!

I stayed at Art Deco Suites for 2 1/2 months and was happy with my experience. Seth, the owner is a cool guy that is true to his word. He also keeps the place clean and has teh rooms decorated quite nicely.

The downsides of Art Deco (particularly in Zen Suite) is the noise. The back suites are pretty quite actually, but Zen is up front and the neighborhood is pretty lively with things not really winding down until the wee hours.

The noise didn't bother me, but my wife didn't have an easy time sleeping. So, if you stay at Art Deco, which I recommend, be sure to stay in one of the back suites if you're a light sleeper. Otherwise, it's a good choice close to the action in central Cancun.

Room Tip: Zen is the biggest, but also the noisiest. The regular suites are nice and very quite. Just depends...

We enjoyed hosting you over the past couple of months and and appreciate the time you took in writing an honest review. As you mention, our prime downtown location, which is easy walking distance to all the restaurants, shopping, etc.. also means that there is some ambient sound, which is why we provide no charge silicone earplugs just in case one of our guests is sensitive to unaccustomed sounds in the evening. The Zen Suite, which is the largest, with a private entrance at the front of the property, is more exposed to the downtown liveliness than the Standard Suites which are to the rear of the property. I am glad you experienced both the Zen and the Standard Suites, as your comparison made for a meaningful review which I hope will be useful to our future guests. I look forward to your next visit with us here in the vibrant heart of the Historic District, Cancun!
