This hotel was brilliant. Our room was clean every single day with fresh towels and fridges restocked. The maid even tidied our room and made our beds! Our shower was huge! You could fit 4 of us inside! Only one pool; but you don't need that as you have the beach.. (hotels personal beach is small) Howeverrrrrr you can walk along every other hotels beach included on the strip barcelo was on from your beach as there were no barriers. We walked for miles in the sunshine! Staff was incredible... making it really fun. Table service for cocktails in all restaurants. They make them lovely and strong. I will say to the ladies to watch there drinks because i got spiked on my second day out there at night by the pool bar (probably by a hotel guest) and it was really scary. The food was nice. Some days it was really yummy, and some days not so great. But the a la cart places were exceptionally nice. Breakfast was always delicious. We went for spring break. For people wanting to go for that time of year i wouldn't suggest this hotel as it is much further away then the main action. Your better of staying at oasis which is the main spring break hotel. But for a relaxing holiday it is just brilliant. They also had hammocks outside nearly every room which is a nice (and comfy) touch! The entertainment is not great. But then again i'm 22 and was there to party so i wasn't gonna enjoy watching fire dancers etc.The one bad thing is that if your hungry in the middle of the night your only choice is hotdogs and salad and dry pizza. Please believe i never touched that! They have a spa which is free to use (obviously not the personal treatments) but its split into mens and womans which is annoying seeing as i was alone with 4 of my guy friends. Tried to sneak in but got caught 10 minutes in lol. Make sure you go to chitchenitza... INCREDIBLE. I went on my own as nobody wanted the 12 hour day. But it was 100% worth it. Got some incredible cheap silver jewelry. Pure silver necklace for like 20 quid. And its beautiful. Make sure u take a stack of dollars for tipping as over there they actually ask you for it as its expected. DO NOT GET CABS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Its only a dollar or 20 pesos for the bus. And its got a stop right outside the hotel and the buses are air conditioned as well. Wherever you are in mexico, when out and about look after your belongings as my friends money got stolen out of their bag on the bus. I would definitely return to this hotel!!!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are better as there is only a few lifts and waiting is annoying

We just got back yesterday.i thought the hotel was nice very clean and elegant.we had a standard room it was big and airy with good views only let down was the balcony.the food was ok it got a bit boring after a week although they did change the the themes.you had to book for the restaurants on the day but if you tried after 12 we got told they were full but when you walk past them later on there was lots of room available!!.location was good 10mins from strip by bus.i recomend the hotel barcrawls it works out better than paying on club doors and u get more offers n vip access.i found the reception staff helpful most of the time.the bar staff in the lobby however left u waiting for ages unless you tipped them it closes at 12 but there is a 24hr bar above.shows and entertainment were fab and so was the kids club.maid service was good at first then they started arriving later at 5pm wich was too late for most people.pirate ship is a must nxt to the beach it costs around £85 for 2 but its worth it.

We just got back from a trip to Cancun. This hotel looks nice on the outside, but the rooms were beat up. They also said they were giving us an upgraded room. Had view of a side of a bldg and room smelled moldy. The staff is very friendly, but the food was horrible. Spanish restaurant doesn't serve Mexican food. The Seafood restaurant was ok, but not much food. The buffets were horrible. Very disappointed and won't be back to a Barcelo chain hotel!

We are here for a wedding for our nephew and the hotel wedding coordinator keeps "changing" things and basically messing up the wedding plans for them. The bride had been taking the "changes" very well up until this evening which is the eve of the wedding when they suddenly decided to cancel her hotel room and refused to reinstsate it. The "manager" said it would be available at 7am but refused to put it in writing. Poor thing has spent hours and hours dealing with their mess ups and this is just such bad service for them. Half of her guests weren't the front desk this evening trying to talk to them to get her her room back but They would not. Such bad service.

Room Tip: This is a review of their wedding services.

Hotel was ok for the price, rooms were lovely and clean. Very disappointed with the balcony, you couldn't get a chair on it, it was that small.

The food was very repetitive, especially if you like 'beef in sauce'. The Spanish restaurant wasn't exactly Spanish either, they didn't even do paella!

The pool is lovely and there are plenty of loungers, the beach was nice, but because the hotel is at the end of the bay the sea is very calm, not like in the centre where there were huge waves!

The beach bar was a good meeting place and the staff on there were very friendly especially Lorenzo! The lobby bar could've had more outside seating though!

I was a little bit disappointed considering this hotel has had good reviews. If I went back I would spend a bit more and stay at the Marriott.

I have no complaints about this hotel. The staff are all very friendly, mostly the bar staff - even our cleaner was so friendly! The a la carte resteraunts were all great, especially the buffet. Make sure you ask to sit outside as it looks over the ocean! This hotel is right on the beach, where you can get free towels and use the jetskis. The beach bar has a really nice atmosphere, and also serves food during the day (burgers, hot wings etc). I would definitely recomend the trip to chitchenitza - take lots of photos! There is a pirate ship which stays at the this hotel - i would recommend a night on that, goes way out in the ocean, you get a steak or lobster lunch and free drinks all night. Also, me & my boyfriend went deep sea fishing which was a fantastic experience. We got a boat to ourselves and the guys on board were really nice (expected tips like most other mexicans).
Also at this hotel you can use the spa, which is lovely, but there is a separate one for men and women so dont expect a romantic spa experience. Our room was very big and clean, the mini fridge was stocked generously daily but our view wasnt the best. We paid for an ocean view but instead got a view of a wall! You really get your moneys worth at this hotel - would definitely go again.
