We had such a great experience with our tour. Alma gave us the tour of Tulum, which was breathtakingly beautiful. On the way there she explained the Mayan beliefs and the history of the area, tying it into the information we know from The Book of Mormon. Very cool! Then Arnie took us for the rest of the day to Coba and Cenote. We chose this tour over Chichen Itza for 3 reasons- first, getting to climb the ruins was incredible! It was amazing to stand at the top and look over the top of the jungle and see other ruins. Second, we loved the idea of the bike ride through the jungle to visit the ruins. It was an easy ride and quite fun. Third, we were excited to visit the Mayan family. We were a small group of four, so the family didn't perform for us but it was humbling to walk through their home and see how they live. The icing on the cake was the Cenote swimming, which was perfect at the end of a hot day of hiking and biking. It would have all been beautiful on its own, but Arnie and Alma add a depth to the information that made it priceless. I could hear the things other tours were talking about and I was so grateful to be getting this tour from the LDS perspective. Alma was well known and loved by all the other tour guides- she had people hugging her and saying hello at every turn. It was fun!

Miguel with Alma's LDS Tours did a super job as our tour guide (and driver) of our all-day tour of Tulum and Chichen-Itza. We started in downtown Cancun, and our family group of 8 was picked up about 7:45 a.m. Miguel gave us good background information (in flawless English) during the drive south to Tulum, and our early start allowed us to arrive well ahead of the mega-buses carrying hundreds of cruise ship visitors. Once there, Miguel explained the significance and history of the site, and we had a good visit. Then we headed west and stopped for lunch on the way. Arriving at Chichen-Itza, Miguel fast-tracked our access to the site, and gave a very detailed guide briefing that was polished but not parroted word-for-word. Besides the impressive pyramid/structure itself, one of the best parts of our visit to Chichen-Itza was walking through the "ball court" stadium where the ancient Mayan warriors literally played for their lives--the winners had the "honor" of giving up their lives in sacrifice. Afterwards, we stopped to swim at an impressive underground river, into which our older sons did some "cliff diving" from 10 meters up or so. We finally arrived back in Cancun about 8:30 p.m.--exhausted but completely impressed with the great tour, and very happy with the experience. Top marks for both Miguel and Alma's LDS Tours. Oh, and you don't have to be a Mormon to enjoy this tremendous tour!

Alma and Miguel are fantastic. There really care about giving you a great experience. We had 7 in our group and because we went on 12/21/12 we joined with a few other people and went on a bus instead of a private tour. Both Alma and Miguel were on our tour and shared wonderful testimonies and knowledge of the Mayan people, their culture, and the ruins. They really know the area well and understand the ruins and their meaning and significance.

We went on the Tulum, Coba tour which included a Cenote and a trip to a Mayan village. Tulum was fantastic but we really enjoyed biking through Coba and climbing to the top of the ruins there. The Cenote was also a lot of fun. During our 16 day visit, we went to a couple of different Cenote's and each is unique. The Cenote they took us to just outside of Coba was a huge open cave where you jumped off of platforms of various heights. It was a lot of fun.

The highlight of the trip for us was the visit to the Mayan Village. Our family watched the children play music, we saw the animals they have either farmed or captured for future food, we walked through their home and watched the mother of the house making tortilla's and feeding some of the raw dough to a monkey that is actually part of the family. We bought some fantastic souvenirs from these kind and humble people. The prices are better than anywhere in the entire Riviera Maya. Negotiation is not necessary. They are very fair people.

I know there are other companies you can tour with but if you want an LDS perspective then you want to go with Alma's LDS Tours. If you want what I think is the best tour experience and the most inclusive, then choose the Tulum / Coba tour. It was fantastic.

We did MANY different attractions during our 16 day stay. Of all the things we did, (Xplor, Xcaret, Chaan Tuk, 360 Surf School, Rancho Baaxal, The Jungle Place, Akumal, Fish Spa, Church, and obviously lots of fun places to eat and plenty of beach and pool time), this was the highlight of the trip.

PS - did I mention that Alma played fun games with us along the drive. They are a happy couple and a lot of fun!

Arnie was our tour guide, he did a great job! We scheduled two tours with them and they really came through for us. We had Chichen Itza scheduled for thurs. and a catamaran snorkel trip to Isla Mujeres on fri. Well, on tues. Alma's tours called our hotel and told us it was suppose to rain quite hard on thurs. which would ruin our Chichen Itza tour! Well they were able to swap our two tours and we didn't get rained on, on either tour! Our thanks to them for caring about the rain and us! Arnie was our tour guide on the Ek Balam and Chichen Itza tour. He was very knowledgable about the countryside that we drove through, and he made sure we got many bathroom stops if needed. He also gave us a lot of great info. About Ek Balam and Chichen Itza. Arnie is LDS and had lots of info. That fascinated us!! I had also requested a wheel chair for Chichen Itza, which they provided along with a native Mayan guide named Luis, who is also LDS! He gave us extra info. About the Mayans and the ruins, he even showed us how to get an awesome picture of a servants head with ChichenItza in the background. We were very well taken care of and would highly recommend Alma's LDS tours!!

We had such a good time on the tour. Our tour guide and driver were very informative and we learned a lot. If we are ever able to go again we would definitely book through Alma's Tours again. The LDS history is brought to life, that is what we enjoyed the most. You can just sit down and picture what it looked like thousands of years ago and the people walking around.
