Description: La Habichuela Sunset Surpasses your expectations. Welcome: A unforgettable sunset awaits you. They say its a museum turned into a restaurant. Aside from its bold and modern arquitechture, the ambiance is based on the mayan culture with the intent of giving our customers a unique experience surrounded by masks of ancient kings, a 9 meter mayan column from floor to ceiling and a 30 meter hand carved kukulkan wooden snake. Our open garden area next to the lagoon allows you to dine with the stars and the moon. But our biggest pride being our exquisite dishes, from traditional yucatecan recipes to sophisticated caribbean/mexican fusions. We have a vast variety of international wines as well as national. We follow and maintain our founders philosophy of providing prompt and detailed service since 1977. Dont miss our mayan rituals shows during the week that will transport you in time to the ancient mayan civilization.

Had a great dinner, witnessed a Mayan dance to the fertility goddess Ixchel... good service, beautiful view. Nice for dinner. Show time is 8pm.

“Beautiful view, pretty good food, good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

We had eaten at the location in downtown a few years back and so we decided to try out this location. Very modern and clean, the outside terrace has a great view of lagoon and sunset but I didn't want to get eaten by Mosquitos so we sat inside by glass windows. The other location was more old school. They don't have a drink menu just a wine list but the waiter recommended a few martinis so I tried a strawberry one that was pretty good, sweet but good. We got the tamales to start, and it tasted more like tamale than the stuffings (one stuffed with duck, another with shrimp and one with lobster) the shrimp was more shrimp salad. I wouldn't recommend this app. I did the shrimp filet I think it was called, pretty good, came with steamed veggies would have been good to have rice. My significant other got the fish baked and it came with tortillas to make fish tacos ( totally didn't expect that from the way the menu described it) but he really loved them. Dessert was just the Mayan coffee, they do this whole flambé show for this and for some other desserts. Can be pricey depending on what you order but most places that are good in cancun run similarly price wise. Loved the Mayan coffee. They also had a brief show and later had some men singing which was a change of pace. The show was more outside than inside and they let you take pictures with the performers afterward.

“Pretty Good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

We went here on the advice of our hotel and were pleasantly surprised. They had a Mayan dance show which was average but the food was pretty good. I had their special curry sauce with lobster and shrimp. The sauce was a little too thick for my liking but everything else was good. My husband had chicken that he said was delicious. A bit pricey depending on what you order but we would consider eating here again if we return to cancun.

“Great food and a beautiful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

This was my wife and I's second visit to this resturant having first visited it last year. This year we went there the first night we were in town for our 40th wedding anniversary. The food is incredible and the wine list extensive. My wife had coconut shrimp (hohum you say but she said it was better than you get in the US. I had the Puc ti Tuc and traditiional Mayan fish dish that was superb. Couple of thoughts: the wait staff is wonderful but their understanding of English isn't as good as most resturants - but given that most resturants are average don't let that deter you; second, while it is romantic don't sit outside because you can't see the lagoon for the most part because of the plants - likewise for the lower lever. Eat up stairs where the wall is all glass and you have a beautiful sunset to go with an amazing meal.

“Great fresh fish, great atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

We wanted to try the downtown location of this restaurant but were reluctant to bring our toddler to a place so many reviewers described as "romantic." So we went to this location instead and it was perfect. We sat in the outdoor garden, which is beautiful on the lagoon as the sun sets, but also has plenty of space for little kids to wander around. We were one of several families with kids who roamed around outside between courses, befriending each other and exploring the grounds. The food is very good to great. My husband had a grilled whole grouper that was excellent. For us, it was the perfect last night dinner to end our trip. More upscale than the rest of the week but still warm and friendly for a family with a small child. If we get back to Cancun, I would like us to try the downtown location without our little one!
