“Very Nice. Rooms could do with upgrading”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

We stayed over New Year and had a very relaxing stay. The hotel is situated at the tip of the Cancun hotel area, a prime location to take in the views of the sea. The beach is perfect, white and pristine and so clean. The sea is gorgeous.

The hotel is well equipped, with a small gym, 2 good sized pools, a grill restaurant, bar, beauty rooms and an onsite shop.

The buffet breakfast is quite expensive at $30 per head, but it has a great variety and is worth doing at least once during the trip. The food is lovely, but it is expensive to do everyday.

The poolside and seaside food and drinks service is good. The cocktails are superb!

We took advantage of the credit deal where you buy $250 dollars worth of credit and receive $500 to spend in the hotel. This was a good deal and was worthwhile, so if you can afford it then this is something you can consider.

The only downside is the rooms could benefit from a upgrading. The decoration could do with refreshing and our shower was incredibly noisy and the toilet handle kept falling out of the cistern!

All in all, this is a good hotel with good standards of service, but it could benefit from upgrading particularly given the amount of money that we paid to stay there. I was slightly disappointed in the room decoration. Good location, good service.

Room Tip: Ask for a bedroom that has a sea view - it is worth the extra costs. Also, if you want a quieter...

We just stayed there for 7 nights and had a great time. The beach had nice soft sand and plenty of waves for the kids to jump in all day. The food at the hotel was pretty good. They will match whatever credit you put on your room. So 250$ became 500$. The prices for food are high in the restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were kept very clean and water provided each day. The biggest complaint I have is how much noise filters into your room. It is not well insulated and you can hear every noise around you. I never got used to it and the last night there was a large party on the beach with music blaring until 2:30 in the am. Also one of the air conditioning units in our rooms did not work the whole time. The location is nice because there are plenty of taco stands and other restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better.

We just completed another 14 day in beautiful Cancun, Mexico at the Hyatt Regency. This hotel has a top notch crew that will make sure your stay is complete. The Hyatt has a promotion in which they will match the amount you put on your room credit in cash up to $250. You give them $250 and receive $500 credit which can be used for food, beverage, telephone and laundry. Feel free to upgrade your stay to the Club Regency and you will have a separate location for daily continental breakfast and evening small bites and complimentary happy hour from 5pm-7pm. The beach is wonderful and you are surrounded by crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Bali beds are available on a first come basis and the double level pool has plenty of lounge chairs. The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to may your stay
enjoyable. A spa is also available for those days that you would like some pampering. You will receive a 20% discount coupon after each service that you can use on the next service and be sure to ask what the daily special is. This is the second year we have stayed here and are eager to come back.

Room Tip: We have had the same room each year we have traveled. We select oceanview, king, Regency Club room...

This hotel doesn't worth the price at all!!! It is very very disappointing and way below the Hyatt Regency standards, I always go to Hyatt Regency when I travel (Washington DC, Boston...) and really here in Cancun I haven't found quality and services I am used to! The room we had had view on another really ugly building across the street and was really noisy due huge AC next to the building and proximity of clubs as the hotel is located in the "party center"... Even with your window closed you still hear loud music and noisy AC instead of ocean. Not to mention you barely see the water..!
No free internet access, even in the lobby, rude staff at the reception (we had to fight to get the king bed we had pay for...!!!), equipment that was not working in the room, poor breakfast buffet...
I really do not recommend this hotel, this is way too expensive for what you get.

They require first night's deposit at booking, and this is refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of your stay. I cancelled in January for a stay in March. Not only did they not automatically refund the deposit, I contacted them, and they made me fill out a form with my credit card number that they would supposedly give to their bank.

I received a reply from Alejandro Sanchez who said he had processed my refund. I never received the credit to my Visa. I called my credit card company who confirmed no credit had been made. I have since attempted to email Mr. Sanchez every day since then. All my emails go unanswered.

I'm also trying to get this worked out with Hyatt Gold Passport's concierge service department.

IMO this place should be shut down for such illegal activity. If anyone knows where I can report something like this, please let me know. I don't think bbb would be able to help, since this hotel is in Mexico.

This is the first time we have gone to Cancun and used other Tripadvisor reviews as a guide. The entire experience was wonderful! The team working at the hotel truly enjoy what they are doing, they are well trained and obviously well recognized by the management. After some initial hicups with our room because of a room airconding noise we were moved to a wonderful room with that SPECTACULAR view of the ocean! The 2 for 1 voucher offer is a great way to stretch your pesos and enjoy delightful food and drink. You must try the ceviche with grouper, cucumber and red onion!

Room Tip: The ocean ocean view is the way to go!

Excellent beach at the very end of the strip. This makes it quiet, and less crowded. The pool is nice, and adequate, but nothing special as compared to most resorts along the strip in Cancun.
If you want just quiet and relaxing, this hotel will work. If you want fun and action...I would look elsewhere.
