“Hyatt 2012 - Regency Club Suite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

My husband and I visited the Hyatt Regency again February 29, 2012 through March 5, 2012. This year we used our Hyatt Gold Passport points to upgrade to a Regency Suite. Prior to our arrival I e-mailed concierge to request a specific room I previously viewed on YouTube. Upon arrival, we were immediately escorted to the Regency Club for a private check in and much to my surprise the room I requested was not only available but ready for us and it was only 1 o’clock! The suite was beautiful and of course came with the best view (there was actually a sign on the balcony stating this). This was our second visit to this property as we have always used the Hyatt Caribe in the past until it was sold. I can’t say enough about the exceptional service! This hotel really does things right…from the bellmen, regency club staff, housekeeping which came several times a day in the Regency Club, and pool/beach staff the service was superb! Hyatt currently has a promotion allowing guests to purchase double the credit…example, for $150 you receive $300 in credit at the hotel. As Regency guests, our stay included a continental breakfast, h’orderves, and cocktails in the evening but we used the credit power to for lunch and drinks at the beach and struggled to get it spent up prior to leaving. Again, just a wonderful property…one in which we will certainly return.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night before we checked into our resort. I was very beautiful with great service from the check in counter to the bellhops.
Our room had and incredible ocean view (actually you could call it ocean front) comfortable beds, lots of fluffy white towels and complementary coffee and water.
The lobby is stunning with modern decor at every corner. All the rooms open to a large atrium with a stunning view of the stars at night.

CONS..No matter what room you have, all doors SLAM. Plus, i does not help to have your neighbours as 20 year old spring breakers. But, management did an excellent job calling security and that helped (even if they had to be called more than once.)

Overall, I would reccomend this resort to honeymooners as the beach is beautiful and there are even beach beds to relax on.

Hyatt Regency surprised us during our week-long stay in Cancun. We stay at the Regency Club level and it is highly recommended - the breakfast alone is worth it! The room on the 11th floor was nice and we received 3 visits a day by housekeeping. The palapa we used daily on the beach was a life -saver (I am fairly light skinned and burn easy). The service by the hotel staff on the beach was superb; the lifeguard (Benito) found my better half's Italian shades she lost when a wave went over her and I am eternally grateful to him for snorkelling the beach to find them; the activities team even put a 3 on 3 soccer match for me against the Brasilians that arrived my last day - in all the hotel showed itself in its best light!!!

Room Tip: Always book a club level room in this hotel.

We booked our first vacation sans children at the Hyatt Regency Cancun because we had enough points for 4 free nights. We stayed in an ocean room king on the 8th floor. The bedding and bathroom were adequate and clean--which was about our only requirement since we were only there to sleep.
The beach and outdoor area, pools, etc. were VERY NICE. We walked along at least a mile down the beach from our hotel and we felt like "our" beach was the nicest part of that strip. The outdoor cabanas and bali beds were very convenient and fun, with waiters available to bring food and drink right to the beach.
The food options at the hotel were very pricey. We sat down for the breakfast buffet the first morning and after we left we realized we paid $30 US each for the meal. We ate at "the grill" for dinner and the food was good, but also a bit pricey. We enjoyed the ice cream at the cafe each night.
Some things we didn't like--there was a lot of noise in the morning at the hotel. The doors to the rooms were very loud and slammed when shut, so every time our neighbors came in and out of their room there was a loud bang.
The hotel is almost as close as you can get to the clubs (about 6 of them). We are not really club people, so we were glad we arrived before the spring break rush. If we had been there during spring break I think it would have been very annoying.
Also, we had a bit of a dispute checking out with our bill, but in the end the manager got things settled.
I would recommend this hotel to people who are there to relax and enjoy the beach. If we had traveled with our children I would not choose this particular hotel as I think there are many others that are better set up for kids.

Room Tip: Ocean view is worth the extra price.

Stayed over Valentine's week for free with Hyatt Gold points. The hotel is nice, fairly modern for it's age and clean. There is a minor order in the rooms at times but it appeared to come from the air conditioning. It was our first time in the hotel zone versus Playa Del Carmen. It was nice to go to restaurants in the area and experience the shopping that is there. The airport is close and the area is safe. I will say if I had to pay for the room, the food and drinks, the all inclusive at other resorts would be a hands down winner. The beach is steps away, clean and soft sand, near perfect.

Room Tip: There a limited number of rooms with King Beds, if you want to increase your chances of getting a ro...

The hotel is conveniently located, walking distance to everything. When we checked in, we had the Regency Club access which made a huge difference. Pretty much drinks and snacks are well taken care of. The double your resort credit promotion was an incredible deal. We drank and ate like a rich and famous. The food was great too and the service was exceptional. There is no pressure selling for timeshare at the lobby. We didn't have to get up at 6 in the morning to secure a chaise. I highly recommend this property if you want to relax. If you are into late night disco scene then this property may not be for you.
