“Mostly Good even the 2nd time.”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

This was the second year in a row we went to this resort. Our main reason is the great deal on golf at the Iberostar Cancun Golf Club. If you stay at the Crown it's only $49 if you have your own clubs and you can walk to the course or take the bus. The food was good at all the restaurants. We used the club lounge to meet for a drink before our dinner reservations. We would always eat at the sit down restaurants for our evening meals. The rooms were clean and well taken care of. All the workers and waitstaff were friendly. We enjoyed our trip and don't mind recomending it to others.
Our only problem was at check in. The conceirge had all our information and it was easy. The problem was when we asked if they had made dinner reservations for us for that evening. I had E-mailed ahead and asked for the Italian restaurant but we would have settled for any sit down restaurant. I had to get a little upset (and loud) to make my point that we expected them to get us a reservation which they eventually did. I was already a little cranky when we got there because our transportation from the airport (blame Apple Vacations not the Crown) was a mess. We have traveled with Apple before and we have always been pleased but not this time. Apple was very disorganized at the airport and took a very long time to find transportation for us to our hotel. Then the driver took the long way around the lagoon to our hotel and took over an hour when we knew it should only take about 15 minutes. It wasn't because of other people being transported with us because the 2 girls were dropped off at a hotel very close to ours. Maybe he was getting paid by the mile and it may seem like a small thing but it can be upsetting.
Our lagoon lunch was canceled because of mechanical issues with the boat. The Crown really stepped up and offered us a choice of 2 replacement outings. We chose the boat ride and submarine adventure to the reef. Although it might have been a little corny it was a more than adequate substitution.
All in all go to the Crown you'll have a very good vacation.

Room Tip: If you are not traveling with children spend the little bit extra and stay in a club room. We think...

Hello oceanwood,

Thank you for being our guests for the second time! We’re very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of the great benefit of having a golf course very short distance from the hotel and at such a great deal as you said.

I apologize if there were some issues with your dinner reservation request, and I’m glad it was sorted out quickly.

Once again thank you for visiting us, we’re looking forward to welcoming you on many more future occasions and please feel free to send an email with your pre-arrival requests ahead of time, so that we can better assist your needs.

Greetings from Cancun,

Stayed here for 2 weeks in April. Overall it was ok, the rooms are nice. The food is fantastic. The only thing that let it down was he fact it really is a family resort. The main pool is very children related with the music and games. You can't really get in there as there are so many kids.

The adult pool is better but not big and does get crowded.

In the evening it was difficult to book other restaurants as they got filled so quickly. Also people don't seem to put their children to bed. I came down wanting a nice cocktail dressed up and there are screaming kids running around till gone 11pm. I know it's a holiday but the parents really don't consider other guests at all.

Since staying here I have stayed at temptation resort and spa and has made me realise that adult resorts are now the only way forward until I have children.

Hello sbahous,

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your impressions.
While we agree with you that Crown Paradise Club is a family-friendly oriented hotel, I do need to mention a couple of features that make us a great choice for those who are traveling without children: Crown Club Rooms located on top four floors of one of two towers, that include some amazing amenities, Adults-only restaurant Sans Souci, Trafalgar’s bar and our Crown Club Lounge for guests staying at the adults-only room section. As you have mentioned there is also adults-only swimming pool where guests can enjoy a swim-up bar having their favorite cocktail.

We are glad that you found the food to be fantastic and that you were overall pleased with your stay.
If you consider giving us another opportunity, please feel free to contact us directly to assist you with your pre-arrival plans.

Warm regards,
Katarina

Everything about this resort is amazing. Truly. The only thing that could make it better would be free wifi. My kids loved it. They are four and fourteen. My mom loved the spa.Well kept grounds. Great variety on food. Lots to do for all ages.

We just got back from 5 days at the resort. We stayed in a one of the larger suites that they say can accommodate 7. It was a very tired room -- and dangerous. The stairs are slippery especially for kids at night. We actually tried to downgrade to a safer room and Alfredo was at the front desk and totally obnoxious. He made every excuse (along with the reservation manager Francisco) to prohibit us from moving. He actually spoke poorly about me in Spanish (which I could understand) and basically told Francisco to make it difficult as well. It set a terrible precedent. Furthermore, the air conditioning smelled like septic (which I believe must have been close to the room). We complained and they bleached the system but it still wasn't great. We just never used the air conditioner and tried to figure out how to leave the ground floor screen open which just felt too dangerous. The second floor window didn't open as they said it did. They called to follow up on the smell but hung up the phone before we could explain that it wasn't much better.
The beach was great (which is a testament to Cancun and not the hotel). The pools were fine. The kids club has potential but the pool water was cold. The food was fine. The tennis courts were under construction and the mini-golf was shut down too. There are many other better options along the strip. Don't waste your money here. We enjoyed our time together as a family but it wasn't because of the hotel. . .

This resort had everything.
My wife and I honeymooned here and we are already planning a return. The service is amazing, with 16 years of experience in the service industry between us, we were wowed by the service. The breakfast waiters were particularly attentive and had great memories considering the amount of people there was.
The facilities were great, the room was amazing from the bed to the views stunning. Being in the honeymoon suite we were greeted with flowers, champagne and a fruit basket waiting for us in the room. All pools were brilliant and just what you needed a cool escape from the mexican heat. We loved the main pool with aerobics, water basketball and netball and games to entertain everyone. The adult pool with its swim up bar was also amazing.
The food was lovely with Mexican and American options which was a nice change being from England. But the best thing about the food was the variety, if we had stayed for a month we couldnt have tried everything. We loved the French resteraunt and the steak house. I also love the cocktails but beware of the Miami Vice although it is beautiful and refreshing it will give you a sore head quickly.
We would like to thank every member of staff at Crowne Paradise Club Cancun for an amazing experience thank you all x

We recently went to Crowne Paradise Cancun for a week long trip with 18 of us. 10 adults and 8 kids ranging from 3 to 14.

Staff were awesome. Everyone there was extremely helpful, cheerful, and all around a pleasure to deal with.
Room was clean and fairly standard. There are issues with the doors. If the balcony door is open, do not try to use the main door as it will swing with the wind and has the potential to really hurt someone. There are signs on the door warning you about it, but they're pretty small.
The entire hotel was well maintained and they seemed to pay attention to the details. There weren't any areas that were in disrepair.
Pools were awesome and clean. The kids play area was great and the staff were phenomenal. They really seemed to love playing with the kids.
Food was so so. But given it is a buffet and you are trying to please thousands of people, I get it. We went to three of the restaurants and the staff were amazing. The food wasn't out of this world, but it was very good.
We are already talking about how to get back there next year.

Hello Mark J,

We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. We are glad that you and your family chose to stay with us, and that we we were able to provide you with an amazing experience.
Thank you for your positive comments on the staff, they really go above and beyond to meet our guests’ needs, and it’s greatly appreciated when these efforts are noticed.

Being an ocean front property, the resort has the advantage that there is a constant breeze, but sometimes it can be quite windy, that’s why we kindly advise our guests to be careful when opening the doors. We apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused you.

It’s great that you’re already planning to come back, if you need any assistance regarding your pre-arrival arrangements, please feel free to contact us directly. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back.
Greetings from Cancun,
Katarina

We just returned March 16, 2014 and had an awesome time. The staff are super friendly and check-in was a breeze. We stayed in building 1 on the second floor, the room was a little dated but hey, you don't go to cancun to stay in your room. The beach was awesome and the waves were lots of fun. Our kids really enjoyed the covered, heated pool. It was a great escape from the sun if you felt overheated. The food was amazing, the main buffet was shut down for dinner services for 4 days of our stay(changing the roof) and we were sent to a buffet at the Italian a la carte. Considering the hotel as full not the best time to do this as it was very crowded at dinner time with a smaller selection of food. All in all a great vacation, I would definitely return with the kids but I would choose a different resort if you don't have kids.

Thank you for telling us about your awesome experience.
It’s great that your family enjoyed the beach, the covered pool, the food and overall had a great vacation.

We sincerely apologize if the maintenance work done on the roof of La Palapa disturbed your stay in any way. These updates were being done as part of our efforts to keep offering our guests the best resort possible.

We would love to have the opportunity to welcome you back, and provide you with another memorable experience. Please let us know about your return.
