“"not awful, not great"”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

We went January 2013. We spent a week at the hotel. This hotel is huge. I don't think it was quite full but there were alot of people. The checkin was very smooth and simple. The rooms were very spacious but I must say the beds were rather hard and walls paper thin. The rooms lacked anything spectacular which was fine because for the price we paid for 7 people was really inexpensive. We felt totally safe while at the resort and allowed out two 12 year olds to run freely. They are pretty picky eaters but were always able to find plenty of food they liked. The bar staff were great, we tipped well the first day and they always remembered us. The beach was a stunning blue sea. The water was pretty rough and had bad rip currents but we stayed shallow and there were plenty of life guards on duty at the ready. Downtown cancun is also a short bus ride away my wife and kids went while i stayed behind. I think if you want to lay on the beach get decent food, good service at the bar and are ok with so-so sleeping arrangenments that you won't be disappointed. I feel for the price we paid for our family it was a good deal. If it was just my wife and I we would go somewhere else.

I made a reservation thru booking.com and instead of charging for 1 adult and 2 children, I was charged 3 adults.. the hotel promised me a refund , which I finally got after 3 months !! and only due an exceptional effort of the reservations departement employee mrs Guendoline Flores. Without her I´m sure I would only be one more guest expecting the refund...
She made my travel worth and my memories to my vacation in Cancun without a bitter taste !!
Thank you so much Guendoline !! there is still hope in good service !!

We recently stayed at the CPR April 2013 and had a wonderful time from the moment we checked in to the moment we left. My family of 4 (Children 15 and 12) had a great holiday thanks to this resort. The rooms are a bit dated but the view makes up for that. Waking up looking at the Ocean was amazing! Plus you do not come to a resort to hide out in your room anyways. The maids kept them very clean and the beds were very comfortable and sheets changed daily. The food and drinks are top notch. Everyone goes over and above making you feel welcome. Especially Felipe in the College bar. The CPR is very fortunate to have Felipe working for them! We ate at Wayne Boots and the Mexican restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was our favorite. Especially the house tequila. My only complaint is the reservation system. It was very hard to get through to them. It would be great if they could change the way reservations are made. The buffet has a lot of chooses and they change daily. The beach is wonderful, clean and cared for very well. We found the resort to have a lot of activities for people of all ages. Our personal opinion is those poor reviews are from people who should just stay home as we cannot wait to return. It truly was a great resort.

We went here last year, March 2012,nice resort overall, just beware of the lady when you get off the elevator, she wants to give you everything, nice lady, but selling time shares...run when you see her. The pictures are also deceiving, well not all of them, but the ones of the room, that definitely did not look like my room, i found that the resort was a little dated and was in desperate need of a reno. The kids club was amazing, i felt very comfortable leaving my kids there and they enjoyed it soo much, they were asking to go there. The resort is worth the price overall. The food was good, not exceptional, but buffet food is what you expect, the restaurants were too bad

This is a very big hotel, lots of rooms, and lots of people, it is very busy. This hotel is filled with families with kids. We were told afterwards any hotel with an adults only pool is a pretty good indication that there will be a lot of kids... So if your traveling as a couple and want peace and quiet, its not the best place.

Otherwise the adults only pool is great with a swim up bar. The main pool was way too crowded, and we never spent any time there as all the chairs were "reserved" long before we got there.

The beach is beautiful, better place for quiet. The water is amazing, very warm, and has big waves. So if you want to jump around in the water its great, but if you want to just relax in the water the ocean might be too much for you.

The food was very good and the sushi bar next to the main pool was very good for lunch, but had big lineups.

The room was very comfortable. We had a king sized bed, was very clean, no issues here. In fact the hotel itself is very clean.

In general it's a good hotel, just not for couples looking for quiet. Not quite worth the price we paid.

I have been to Cancun once before to a 5 star resort and this resort measures up to that star level in many ways. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a glass of champagne. If you are staying in the Crown Club rooms, you are immediately told that you are a VIP and surprisingly are treated like a VIP. Please upgrade to the Crown Club rooms, which were clean, comfortable, spacious with a great view of the water. Lots of photo ops from you balcony. In these rooms, we were welcomed with a fresh flower arrangement, a tray of fresh fruit and a bottle of champagne which we parlayed into mimosas in the morning. You will also get a complimentary lunch cruise where they play adult games and open bar.
The food was better than expected in the buffet. You can design your own omelet for breakfast and watch them make it. You can even design your own crepe! All of the eateries are immaculate. Our waiter Hector took really good care of us all week. Wayne's Boots served a tasty steak, but I was looking forward to a great big porterhouse or T-Bone. The Fisherman's restaurant was decent but again I was looking forward to a fried seafood platter. The Mexican Restaurant was good. I recommend getting a sombrero drink which was fabulous. The French Restaurant is unbending when it comes to the dress code. They will not let you in if you don't adhere to the code.
The beach, oh the beach!! The sand is white as snow and feels like talcum powder. There is no garbage littering the beach. I felt close to God on the beach and in the beautiful clean powerful sea. I can't wait to feel that way again. As on other beaches, you will be approached by vendors selling silver jewelry, bathing suit cover-ups and sunglasses. They are not overbearing. If you tell them no forcefully and they will be on their way. The silver items are overpriced and not the best grade of silver but the jewelry is pretty. Everything is overpriced, so bargain with these guys. You can also get your hair braided on the beach. The sun is Cancun is hotter than h___, so make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen or you will be burnt!
The maintenance men in this resort are constantly cleaning the common areas. Everything is laid out nicely and easily assessable. All of the palm trees and plantings couldn't be greener. It is just so lovely. You truly are in paradise!
Trafalgas bar is a place to unwind and to play cards and a game of pool. It is open from 6-2am.
If you have a special drink that you drink at home, by all means bring it with you. I drink Crown Royal and they did not have it. I brought my own.
We did not frequent the pools near the beach where many games are played. There was not enough chairs and no shade. The kids have their own designated sections and their own pools. We did however, go to the adult swim up bar located in Tower 1 on the first floor. Service is terrific. There is also 2 hot pool and a large pool. We spent many hours in the pool and meant some really nice people. Try a Mango Marquerita.
Check out THE PIRATE SHIP excursion. This was a lot of fun and a great show. Steak and lobster costs more, or just steak with buffet is included in the price. If you love lobster, just pay for the steak as it is not Maine Lobster!

I could go on and on about this resort. There were six of us and we all LOVED IT.
We could go back in a New York heartbeat. WE were really impressed with this reasonably priced resort.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Crown Club Room. It is totally worth it.
