“2014 Family Spring Break”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

My wife and I are generally anti-Mexico/anti-all-inclusive. But when my Sr. in High School daughter asked us to go with her friends and other families, we obliged.

Physically the hotel was very nice. Sure it needs some paint here and there and has a few nicks in the hallways but all in all, it was a very nice place. It was also very, very clean. Pools and pool decks were kept very clean as well.

Food at DaVinci's and Deva's (Pina Colada restaurant during the day) was excellent. The buffet at LaPaloma was average. Wait staff everywhere was incredibly friendly and punctual. A few bucks at every meal goes a long way in this place. They know if you tip and they will treat you like royalty.

Poolside food at Mexican restaurant and Sushi Bar was great. Service too was very good. Hot tub bar on beach was ok. Bartenders were slow, and irrogant. In fact, Noe, the bartender said to me: You been here 3 days, have you no money? We were a party of 17, we tipped out every round of drinks and meal unless the service wasn't there. The only place we never tipped was there because they were real slow and unfriendly. No big deal because we could only sit in there about 30 min a day. A few bucks goes a long way here.

A few other things:
-Don't have guests visit you, they will try to imprison them upon arrival. We say several examples of this every day.
-A new Brazilian restaurant opens next week-it is beautiful.
-Management can be rude but everyone else is over the top friendly.

We had a good time and I would go back.

Room Tip: Pay for Ocean View- well worth it.

Spring break with my family. The food was incredible at all the buffets and pool bars. The service was beyond excellent . Our best experience was our night at Da Vinci Italian restaurant. The food and atmosphere was top notch. I felt like we were in Rome with the decor and music.

The best of it all was Jose. He was absolutely incredible. He could work in any five star restaurant in the world, and I have eaten at more than my fair share of them.

Five course meal and never had to wait for anything. Food was awesome but service was probably the best I have ever had in my travels. He should run his own restaurant someday because if you have great food and great service you will never fail. He knows how to deliver the service. Incredible. He needs to be promoted! He is an asset to your organization and talent is very hard to find.

Hold on to him.

Place was clean and staff was excellent. Would recommend to a friend. The weight room needs upgrading and the hallways were noisy in the mornings. The nicest restaurant would not allow children which made no sense to us. The beach and pool were awesome. Overall a great stay.

We just returned 3/15/14 and we have had our family reunion in Cancun for four years.
We were not able to stay at our usual resort, so we were referred to the Omni in Cancun.
It was overloaded with spring breakers, as the hotel/Timeshare sold rooms CHEAP!
What a disaster with drunken girls, nakedness, awakened all hours and could NOT go to Jacuzzi, pool, or bar at night.
The timeshare owners never saw this before.
BAD BAD move Omni.
I would NEVER recommend this resort and my complaints have had NO avail.
I prefer resorts that abide with owners and timeshare exchangers.
Who would buy a timeshare that WAS a nightmare!!!!
The owners, staff, and return vacation people all agreed THIS was a bad move to destroy a nice resort.
A staff member stated a girl defecated on the porch...NICE:(((

Josefina Garcia greeted us as soon as we arrived. Because my wife had a walking impairment she did her utmost to get us a room as close to the pool and all other activities. Our stay at the hotel has been wonderful and the service excellent as also the quality of the food. Both Josefina and the hotel deserve high merits. Hoshi Aga

We stayed at the Omni for 8 days with our three daughters - aged 6, 5, and 11 months. We also met my husband's sisters and their families there. We typically have stayed at either AIs further south or non-AI in Cancun. From the street it is underwhelming, everything could use a fresh coat of paint. The other thing we noticed right away was that there were lots of spring breakers! Doing my research led me to believe this was not going to be the case. I would say that their presence annoyed us but didn't ruin the experience. Particularly in the adult only area they completely overtook things and were loud and obnoxious. We mostly hung out by the kiddie pool primarily for the beautiful view but also to be away from the party scene. The interesting thing was halfway through the trip (we stayed Tue-Tue) they left and new ones didn't show up. This made for a much more enjoyable vacation and changed the atmosphere of the resort dramatically. I'm sure the staff (who are for the majority wonderful) didn't enjoy their presence either!
We thought the food was above average for an AI - loved the breakfast options and the taco hut was great. We enjoyed that the resort wasn't huge so it was easy for us to meet up and move around. It would have been nice if there were more ramps, we had to manuever a bit to get the stroller around. The room was okay but we were just expecting okay.
What would make us return (and we never stay at the same place twice) was the amazing staff. Our daughters have never done a kids club before but after hours in the sun they needed a break. There were a ton of fun activities (arts and crafts, theme parties, etc.) that were perfect for their age. The women that work there (Nancy, Dara and Josie) were beyond sweet and really made the girls time that much more special! Most of the wait staff (Herlinda by the pool and Francisco in Pina Colada and a great young guy in the Taco Stand) went out of their way to get you something if you needed it or couldn't find it.
The only other negative aside from spring breakers was the rude concierge. We realized at the end of our stay that some of our clothes must have gotten wrapped in bath towels and the lost and found process was terrible. You had to know the day your item was missing! Needless to say we left without several items. I don't believe anyone intentionally stole things but they didn't want to work hard to help you find them either.
Overall, I would recommend this place to friends and perhaps stay there again, but only if I knew that they were changing their policy on allowing spring breakers to stay. There are plenty of other resorts in Cancun that cater to this crowd and the Omni shouldn't be one of them.

Room Tip: We were lagoon side which was quiet and had beautiful sunset views.

Our family and I just came back. The place is not as big as it looks in the picture, but the personnel will go out of their way to help you. The food was very good. We specially enjoyed Da Vinci italian restaurant. The Asian restaurant wasn't that great. I love swimming in the ocean, the waves are a little bit rough. We had a great time and enjoyed the food best at all the buffet restaurants.
